  • hehehe ball to chin...

  • @md5423 "Come on now!"

  • @KazumiHyuuga Please review videos in our YT channel library; Killer First Step!!!" and "Hip-toHip Attack!!!" for ways to attack the defender. We also have numerous Dribble Attacks in this library that should help you as we.

  • thanks i win against 7yers old friend 1point :D

  • @ignas24lidzius This is good!!!!

  • @ignas24lidzius A win is a win!!!!!

  • That's interesting; the shot fakes that get me to bite are the ones where they extend their legs ever so slightly. I never, ever watch the eyes. I watch the waist. Once it gets past a certain level, I commit to jumping to stop the shot; that's why people who stand up just a bit on their pump fake are so tricky to me.

  • @jml235 Truly, everyone is a little different. When you extend your legs and the ball on your fake it usually takes too much time to recover, thus losing the advantage. Certainly is our opinion and there are many more. Thanks for your comment and we hope you will continue to watch our videos.

  • @ShotScience My apologies, I didn't mean to say that your way was wrong or that my way was better. I always extend my legs on my pump fakes because I assume other people are watching my waist (since that's what I do). As you point out, however, that makes my recovery slower. I'm definitely going to try your method out today, because if they do bite, I'll be in a much better position to attack.

Thanks for the vids; they're great. The crossover one pointed out like 4 things I do wrong.

  • @jml235 Your apologies were not necessary at all. We took no fault with your comment. Just a different view. Thanks for your very nice comment and we hope the cross-over gets a lot better.

  • Another good tip is; while you're performing the fake, simulate as if you were dipping and going up, like, as you do the shot fake(ball going up) just bend your knees slightly, or lower your butt

  • @UnF0cuS This is effective, just not too much dipping because it takes too much time to recover for your attack.

  • When you shoot is it correct to pull ball to your head like 1:39 left or right?

  • @TheLebron6: The demonstration on the left is the one that we feel is best. It is short and quick and you do not have to recovery from the position you see in the shot on the right.

  • i hate when my friend does this to me and i get owned every time

  • @sarkan2: A simple solution is do not take his fake in the first place. He knows you will go for it. What will he do if you stay on the floor and do not respond?

  • @ShotScience thanks a lot for responding

  • @ShotScience thanks a lot for responding i hope i wont fall for it again

  • @sarkan2: You're very welcome. We all get smarter the more we play.

  • you and your crew are very talented

  • @planetjm thank you so much!!! We really appreciate you watching and commenting, too!!

  • WOW PERFECT

  • @nowitzki1000: We are glad you like this. It is very effective.

  • @theallstarxx4: Thanks to your for checking out our channel and our videos. We hope you find all there others useful.

  • 7 Poeple dont know how to play basketball :D

  • @joshua21695: Joshua, you are the man! We should feel sorry for them, no? Thanks for your comment.

  • i just faked my defender and still blocked. what am i suppose to do.

  • @lawofuekiaddict: Work on improving your fake. Often, we find our students execute really poor fakes and expect to get their shots off. Review the video details and then really practice, practice and then practice some more.

  • good tips! thanks

  • @theM4A1man: You got it. Glad we could help out.

  • Suscribed! Really good tutorials, interesting too. ;)

    Hope to see more!

  • @mrblackcat12: Thanks for the sub and stay tuned. There will be many more coming up. Thanks also for your nice commets. We really appreciate it very much.

  • Hey guys just wondering, they way I shoot is like improper, aka like a girl, but i,m good at it tho, can I still do the BALL-TO-CHIN MOTION? Because that way they'll think I am shooting, normally, but ill just circle around them and... bank it :D

    What do you think??

  • @DildoPlanet1: You need to make that decision as we are not sure what your shot fake looks like. You do want the shot fake to look like your shot to get them to accept it.

  • @ShotScience I tricked my friend so I think It's a good start! Thank ShotScience...

  • @DildoPlanet1: This is good!!! and you are welcome.

  • this really helped me

  • @kx89176: We are really glad to hear this. Thanks.

  • great video with great information

  • @algenisrubio: Thanks, we appreciate you comment so much and we are pleased that we could help you. Please stay tuned and "Spread the Word."

  • subscribed!

  • @ChristmasMayhem: Great! Thanks!

  • My problem is that when I try to hold the ball so I can fake, the basketball I am holding most likely got robbed by the defender especially when the defender is big...

(I am 14 years old and 5 feet)

  • @LeonorJosheb: Your problem is one that you need to work a lot on. There are no secret answers that we can offer. It all comes down to doing a lot of work.

  • Hey coach, a lot of times when I drive to the hoop I get blocked. Of course I could try to draw the foul but getting packed every time isn't fun and sometimes it's all ball. How do I avoid getting blocked when going up?

    Thanks

  • @PostUp45 that's tough! Try checking out our "Finishes at the Rim" video and it will give you some ideas on what to do. If you draw the defense, you should also have a teammate that is open. Keep an eye out to dish if your lane gets shut down.

  • You have improved my basketball skills 101%!! I always take notes on your videos and study them before games. I can't thank you enough!!

  • @TheELiTeKIA: We are so pleased that we have been able to help you out. Keep workin on your game.

  • wait but if you fake the shot & grab it with your to hands & den dribble isnt it a ball? because yuh touch it & den dribbled?

  • Why do people put there foot back after a pump fake?

  • @GioRox1234: We have no answer for this question. Players do a lot of things that get by and then become habit!

  • I have one question about the fake..... Why do some people put there foot back when they drive after the fake. Is it like a jab step of something??

  • @GioRox1234 it's more of a bad habit than anything. You want to keep your feet ready to go either way and the fake should be really short and quick with the ball and eyes/head.

  • how do u get the logo up there where it says"got game"?

  • 6 people cant shot fake.

  • I'm 12 years old and should I from shoot from my chest or from above my head?

  • @AustonWilliamsTV: You choice! We feel that the decision should be made on your size and physical strength. We have many of our 12 yr old students, both boys and girls, shoot with the higher set point. This is recommended so that you can get your shot away easier with out it being blocked.

  • @AustonWilliamsTV ur supposed to bring it up high enough so that your elbow is parrallel to ur forehead but its kinda hard prob cuse at 12 u may or may not have enough strength

  • @derrikroseman1: Well Austin, your advice is good, however, at 12 he should have the strength to do this.

  • @derrikroseman1 Yea I'm 13 now and my mid-range is pretty good. Now, the 3-point line to work on...

  • Hey coach, i have a question if you have the ball can you pump fake then dribble. Or is that a double dribble or traveling.

  • @Ryan300000000000: As long as you don't move both feet on your fake it is not a DD or traveling.

  • @ShotScience Thanks coach

  • @Ryan300000000000: You are welcome.

  • @Ryan300000000000 also as long as u didnt dribble already

  • @scottisabeast24: Right on!

  • I don't know how else to get past them. Lately I've been using my speed and it really has't been as effective as the fakes and crossovers.

    Thank you!

  • @NoSuchThingAsLast: Glad we could help out. Keep workin on the moves.

  • On my Basketball team I'm the starting shooting guard, but I am smaller than most other shooting guards, which makes it that much more important to make space off of my dribble. I have tried this move repeatedly and it seems to work every time! Usually around half time thou, the other team starts to catch on to what i'm doing. So here is my question How can i make space off of my dribble?

i'm really good at crossovers and ball control. It's just when they catch onto the ball fakes and crossovers

  • @NoSuchThingAsLast: One thing that you can learn to do is the Step back. We will have something on this pretty soon.

  • coach, the right way to do a shot fake is to get low with your elbow in(perfect shooting form) but a) i at the moment don't shoot like that and b)it is harder to do it faster should i stick with it?

  • @MrMcrRed: Stick with it. Like all new pursuits, it will get easier.

  • coach, how can i refuse shot fakes? i'm at defensive situation

  • @gryphus001: Too often we are obsessed about blocking shots. Let that go, and stay on the floor and contest with a hand in the face on the shot. Remember, the offensive player wants you to take that fake and if you do, you play into their plan to get the shot off. If you take the fake you are easier to go by and you set yourself up to possibly foul the offensive player. Don't take those fakes and leave your feet, this is a way to collect unwanted fouls. Stay down!

  • i used the fake in practice a couple days ago i schooled him. lol love it thanks

  • @prestonm19: Glad to hear of your success on the Fake Shot and go. Please stay tuned and "Spread the Word."

  • Coach, just wondering... how do you know when is the proper time to fake a shot? I mean, where should your defender be for you to use the shot fake?

  • @MARKSMAN2318: It makes sense to show the shot fake when they are close to you so that when you show the fake they elevate just a bit, then it's time to go by them.

  • They pump fake, you get lower (on D)

  • @123ThatOneGuy123: Well, not everyone re-acts like that. If you get lower the response needs to be "Shoot it over the Top." If you crowd, then lets go by them to the rack.

  • @ShotScience

Wow I just know now what real fake is :))

What if they fake block or jump. And we drive by but yet still can't get him off. How do we fix that ?

  • @UnPhaUnKnowed: If you have made a good fake and he responds, attack the basket aggressively using the long One-n-one attack with the hip-to-hip technique. You will beat him to the hoop. Check the videos for these techniques and let us know how it works.

  • Really helps. You guys probably covered every aspect of basketball with all those videos you've had. Thanksss loads!

  • how old is chase?

  • @ShotScience I dont get it... when im dribbling and do a pump fake and dribble again its a travel... how do i not travel?

  • @FlashDwade18: Well you must make the pump fake off the catch and not off the dribble, otherwise it will be a travel.

  • @FlashDwade18 ooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh. now i get it! thanks coach!

  • hey this is a great vid this also helps when your in the paint ive used once or twice and this is a great way to draw a foul and also if you get your shot really good while taking contact so a vid like this is perfect for anywhere on the floor

  • @datguyreggie1: reggie, you are the MAN! You said it well!

  • the looking at the rim part really makes the difference for me. but why do u aim your toes to the left side?

  • @bruynail: You are not aiming your toes, merely rotating your shoulders and body to give you better stability or control before and during the shot. The toes are turned only a little bit. All of your aiming is done with your arm stroke. Good luck and keep us up to date on your progress.

  • This really works, especially if the one who defends you is an "active" guy. hahaha

  • @23kalboako: Great! Those "active guys" cook their own goose don't they. Very cool.

  • Cool! it really works well

  • @Blakekgable: Hey Blake, thats so cool for you. Stay tuned for more videos and our new "STREET TEAM" due up pretty soon.

  • HI ShortScience,

I notice in ur video it mentioned that shooting stance should have 1 leg foward and 1 leg slightly backward.

In my other europe training video suggest by other coaches, they mentioned the perfect shooting stance should be both foot parallel to the rim (to avoid twisting of the body while in the air).

  • I did notice many professional player does have the angled stance u mentioned in ur video. Could you please explain the benefit of shooting with the body at a angle?

    thanks alot.

  • @scoobychau basically the slight stagger allows you to have your shooting side line up with your target. If you shoot completely squared to the basket, you're going to have to force your shooting arm in, towards the center of your body. This is both uncomfortable and won't give you the smoothest, connected release. Check out our video called "Where to put your Feet." Hope this helps!

  • @scoobychau: We feel that by having your feet squared up to the basket you will tend to shoot the ball off your shoulder and your balance/stability will be affected poorly. If you were to have your arm located in the middle of your chest then we would agree to squaring. However it located on one side or the other of your body.

In my 50 years of coaching I have never seen a shooter twist his body while shooting the ball with staggered feet. However, you need to do what you feel works.

  • thanks i subed...

  • @dragomslayer101: Hey Slayer, thanks for the sub and stay tuned for more videos.

  • thanks alot man big help :)

  • red: Glad we could help. Stay tuned for our new "STREET TEAM." Hopefully this month.

  • sonny: Thanks for your nice comments. We will continue to offer our best for you and other developing players. Stay tuned for more.

  • Hey Chase I got a question. Ever time I do a shot fake the defender still keeps on blocking me an I can't get to the basket. What should I do?

  • Sonic: We often do not attack the defender hard because we think we "CAN'T" GET BY THEM." If they bump us, we stop on the contact when we need to continue to the hoop. If they are close to you this is the time to attack because they have little time to react to your drive. If they play off shoot the ball over the top. Make them do what you want them to do and not the other way around!!! Good luck and remember; "Attack the Rack."

  • Chase, how can I achieve a perfect shot form like Ray Allen's? My shot form looks like I am leaning too much towards the basket, and I am pushing the ball towards the rim completely with one arm.

  • WRCx: You might start with using our "Form Shooting Drill" where to really focus on the fundamental parts of the shot and repeat over and over and over til you get it going. It sound like you are not using your legs. You need the leg power to get the arc you need for the shot.

  • is there any other types of shot fakes?

  • attack: This is the best one because it represents the shot motion very well. Trey it you will like it.

  • chase, how tall are you?

  • nesi: Chase is 6'2" and blessed with really long arms and big hands.

  • Can I ask? Which is more advantageous to do when we do lay up... Are we going to hit the board or Ring2ring.... and can u teach us what is the proper way of lay up??

  • Not really sure what you mean, but we're going to have a video on lay ups here soon, so keep an eye out!

  • i think the board to ring is better.

  • Eric: We feel the same way. The layup over the ring is a tough shot because it takes so much finesse. Using the board aids accuracy.

  • at the end he sounds like fred. im gonna go to this website!

  • Yeah, but Fred can't shoot like Chase ;)

  • how do you gain ball speed . like being able to move faster and that

  • az: We believe that you are asking about being able to dribble faster. This is accomplished by "POUNDING" your dribble so that the ball comes back to your hand quicker. It's also important not to dribble the ball too high which makes it slow. A good dribble height is waist high with going lower when changing direction and higher and longer when we are on s speed dribble. Hope this helps.

  • can you teach me how to do a side step? tnx for help!

  • jey:

Don't really know what you by side step. Give us more info and we will try to help out.

  • um. when i do the sidestep, I always miss my lay up.

  • jey: Please explain more about your sidestep as it is still not clear what move you are speaking about.

  • when i am doing a sidestep, i am always out of my balance. i always miss my shot. for example, when i step my right foot and then stepping again with my left foot in opposite direction, i always out of my balance and miss my shot .

  • jey: Work on your footwork and especially your balance. Keep workin on it and it will come. Let us know how you are doing.

  • tnx for helP!.

  • Our pleasure. Stay tuned for more!

  • do we look at the front of the rim or the back of the rim, i look at the back of the rim

  • chiken: Check out our video on "The target" and your answer will be very evident. We don't like either on the ones you mentioned. We refer to them as "False Targets" because if we are successful in hitting them the ball usually will not go in.

    Check it out.

  • can anyone explain to me what is double drible? They say that its a foul when you hold the basketball with your two hands and then you drible again. When you do your fake shot you fake it and u drible again why isnt that foul?

  • Well, a double dribble isn't a foul, but a traveling violation. If you dribble the ball, pick it up, and then begin dribbling again, you turn the ball over to the other team. On the shot fake where you fake and then go to the hoop, you should still have your dribble before you do the fake. Does that make sense?

  • @MrSuperundeR dont forget that you can't dribble the ball with 2 hands at the same time either

  • In general, this is true. The only exception is in the post when you put down a "power dribble" (aka crab dribble). This is a one-off dribble that is thrown to the ground with both hands while doing a drop step. We'll have a video on this down the road.

  • Yeah, but Fred can't shoot like Chase ;)

  • hmm this is really interesting! thanks for te help, by the way! really helped a lot.

  • No problem! Thanks for watching and let us know how it works for you in your games!

  • Nice videos, keep 'em coming!! Do you think you can create a video of how to hold basketball when shooting?? I'm really confused on that and I would appreciate it.

  • Kid: If you go back to our earlier videos on our channel you will find all of the information and also watch some of the "Interactive Videos". We think that these will do the trick for you. Good luck and stay tuned.

  • Thanks for the help! Looking forward for some shooting drills too!

  • Kid: They are upcoming. Stay tuned and please "Spread the Word".

  • Kid: Stay tuned! They will be coming.

  • Thanks that helped a lot I love how u reply to everyone

  • stud: Thanks for your support. We do enjoy what we do. Stay tuned and "Spread the Word".

  • Hey, I need help on my offence. I often play basketball with my friend, and when I stop dribbling, he keeps his hand in my face, when I keep my hands up, I get swatted, shot fake doesn't effect him, and the Diamond doesn't work when I go into him. It's hard to get past him unless if I lay it up. Is there anyway to make him back of so I have space to score?

  • Poke: Don't pick up your dribble. Take him to the rack until he gets off you. Your difficulty in getting by him amy be because you don't go hip-to-hip when you attack him. Players often help the defense by looping around the defender when attacking the rack and this helps the defender. Check out the "Hammer" video.

  • Thanks!

  • great videos guys. I was wondering if you could show a video about advanced finishing moves around the basket?

  • graham: We are working on this. Some much to do and so little time. Stay tuned and spread the word.<
