  • Nice video man, you don't need to use bait while setting trails and try setting your guide sticks perpendicular to the trail rather than paralell

  • Yess it is a good idea to put those sticks there to make them follow the trail into your snare but i think you have them a little small so make ur hole a little bigger..... i trap many things myself

  • hey i have some advice for you you should make your snare loop smaller about 3 and a half inches and only about an inch above the ground proofs in the pudding or rabbit stew lol good luck

  • 2:30 u should catch 1...heavy trail

  • They love birch, cut a birch tree down and put it across the road.Trim the tree out a bit,and use the limb to set your snare.you can set a few in the tree if ya like. or use spruce branches to make a gate and leave a little clearing in it for your snare.

  • use a fist sized rock (sprinkle pepper on it) and place it on a well used rabbit trail.LOL

  • I'm looking into groping rabbits to eat and I have used a trap but never snared I'm gunna try out snaring rut imprint of rabbit holes can anyone tell me if thats a good idea?

  • well, your snairs shuld be set to the size of you fist roughly and about the height of three fingers of the ground. and to get them to go to the snair just simply leave no way to get by the snair without going threw it.

  • Nice video but for some tips from me that have always worked for me is to make a fence beside the snare on both sides and one tiny stick underneath for a chin lifter and have your snares about 4 inches off the ground or about the width of your hand and you will have luck on catching rabbit and another thing is you don't really need the bait if you set it on their trail they will follow it just have it fenced off just a few tips to help you out

  • okay first let me start off by sayin i like thaat there are people getting into trappping now-a-days and i would also like to say that you snares are too low to the ground also in case you have'nt aalready found that out..well thanks for reading and good luck.

  • What are you bating it with?

  • Looks like youve got yourself a healthy rabbit population. The snares look great man, the third one you showed us might be a tad too big. The rabbit would still get caught up in it but theres a possiblity a leg might slip threw too and it might cause some suffering. But honestly it's not that big of an issue, just maybe set them snares a tad smaller. I also wouldn't use the corn right infront of the snare. Great work though, check out my rabbit hunting video's, I think you'll enjoy them.

  • No fucking way man this year was my first year snairing i made the same snair put bout 25 out and havent get any bud but the way to go is spring snairs its good i still havent got any yet but they have only been up for 5 6 days reply bub

  • @Bobbykilla16 Your obviously not setting it right then if their been up for 5-6 days and you still don't have anthing.

You should be getting a rabbit in your snare from as little as half an hour to 2 days, i think you should

re-examine your snare making to see what your doing wrong.

  • nice

  • Whateva65 u cant hince trapping for fur hince killing get a box trap

  • check out northernpike56's vids

    they will help u out

  • Try putting some small sticks on the sides of the snares as opposed to in front and behind. It will act more like a wall with only one opening for them to got through rather than a tunnel which they will probably just go around. Hope this helps.

  • instead of a teepee 2 small sticks stuck in the ground to the left and right sides will make hip hop right threw your snare. also your loops are an inch too big

  • How can I stop my snare from harming/killing the rabbit?

  • @Whateva65 That's a dumb question, snares are made to kill rabbits. What are you looking to do? Capture a rabbit? If so, what you need is a live door trap. You can pick them up a pest control stores.. Make sure you check out your regions rules and regulations before hand however.

  • yu dont want to bait by your snare, the rabbit will feel the snare around its neck and back out, yu dont want bait cuz the rabbit will be sitting still and yu want it to run right thru the loop.

  • @ Ianiesenhut hey your such a pathetic little dick stop picking on him cuz he is just trying to try somn new like he said it's a new hobbie for me so fuck off

  • you could put two ft long stacks on both sides of the trail.then atech the snare to one of the stacks.then put the snare in the middle of the stacks.i do this and it works

  • i can give you a tip the rabbits can smell the human on the snares so if you makethem put them in a fire of wood, dry wood below and weat wood up so he don't smell you.

  • Stupid inbreed hick fuck...Fur harvester!!! HAHAHAHA...Try sociopathic future serial killer taking pleasure in the suffering of others...Someone should set a snare outside your house you waste of flesh.

  • @ianeisenhut why did you look this video up? maybe he has to kill animals to survive. Don't ever judge someone by just a video. He might do this for a hobby and for food so back of you up state sissy

  • @ianeisenhut

You do your thing I'll do mine

  • @ianeisenhut you obviously are a bit of a freak to look up snaring on you tube and then start insulting someone that you don't even know.

You sound like a cowardice weirdo and just reading your comment makes me want to cause you pain.

  • try to use the lift off thing, thats more reliable as the rabbit cant run arround and chew on the cord.

  • well i am trying snaring right now but i have a question is it better to have a lot of brush where dear r at or not

  • that is a very good trap line i have 4 my self you might want to make you snares smaller and try puting stick/rocks/brush on both sides of the snares you can all so mix up sum attractent you need half cup water,2 splashes of vinela and and one and a half of leaves/pine needles maple , oak , hicory works best

then put all of that in a pot and boil it on hy for 15-20 minuts or untill it is smelling strong and the color is a nice darkish shade and if you will be snaring at least 3 rabbits a week

  • Take a look at my videos. There is a release aid you should add, its a simple bend in your wire. Take a look at Rabbit Snaring 2010.

  • your snares are ok but i been a traper for many years now and im a profrssional hunter as well, but all you need to do is make you snares look as natural as possible, make them look like they never been there befor. and another thing, never step on the rabbits trail, just a couple hints i can give you, cant tell you everything i know

  • and lil to big

  • ur snares r a lil to high

  • it works i got my first rabbit .. jus givin u a heads up man G.L.

  • lol i did the same thing man i put sticks in the path so they would have to go through the snare. i dont think its a bad idea or that the rabbit would think n e thing of it .. its my first year snaring too . good luck man

  • i started snaring two days ago i use a homemade mullti copper wire and stainless steel im only 14 but i putted out two snares alredy got 1 rabbit p.s dont put two snares on 1 track so close to each other but fair play to yourself gud tracks and snares

    good luck in the future

  • ok, looks good for your first attempt but when I snare I make the hole in the trap a bit bigger and off the ground, about 2cms (1 inch)

    Do you use slip knots???

Also dont use corn, use something like some vegetable cuttings from dinner (potatoe skins, bits of carrot, brocoli) they tend to work better.

    Hope this helped,

    Good luck with future traps

  • ur snares look pretty good try to put them in really thick brush

  • what state are you catching them things in.. Im in maine and I have some pretty good luck,... also how easy was it to find the rabbit trail?

  • Only we Canadians can find rabbit trails

    -_- lol

  • you forgot about us Alaskans, we find em to ;)

  • set your snare a hands width off the ground, just big enough your fist fits thru it...a stick either side of the snare....dont bait especialy under your snare, rabbit will lower its head striking out the snare...if your gonna bait just cut young birch branches and place them either side of the snare a couple feet away..another technique is to cut 4 evergreens making a box leaving gates into it with a bunch of birch saplings cut and placed in the middle and a fue outside to get their attention.

  • by the way its easier snaring in thicker brush the sticks your useing for your teepee(which is a bad idea..just a gate is the way to go) are decidious which rabbits eat .they will just chew around your snare...try to use evergreen for your gate sticks or a tree on one side, dead wood or evergreen for the other side..if you dont have denser brush areas try the yard method i just posted with the fresh birch branches in the middle.rabbits will eat smaller fir so use a big gate stick if freshcut

  • well good try but what happens when u get a rabbit and it trys to run away wont it just bring the tp with it

  • interesting...about the bait. I have never seen it done..but whatever works I guess.

  • better then i could ever do :P

  • not bad for your first time chief, keep up the good work

  • whats that orange thing under all your snares ? (ex. at 0:33 )I hope its not carrot or any food cause you dont want that you want the rabbit to jump throug your snare not stop by ... this morning I set a dozen snares in waist deep snow ill take a short video when ill get one

  • well.... ur better than me so ya i guess thats good

  • agreed ... prepare the field don't just wait on chance .... want rabbit? ... snare and sit with 22 ... you'll have one

  • the first and last snares, the first one was perfect, couldn't do it better myself, but the other ones need the wall so the rabbit is funneled into the snare, they'll run around it if they have the choice. the last one had a slight funneling, but you nneed to make the wall too, and insteead of make a canopy above the rabbit, place sticks on both sides of the snare so the rabbit can't just push the snare outta the way.

  • a couple of suggestions

firstly, never wake into the rabbit path, this'll give off on alarm to them that something isn't right and they may start using a new path.

secondly, you not allowed to bait for rabbits, seriously, you could get a bad fine if you do it.

the third and last suggestion, when making a snare, make a sort of short wall about two to feet feet long on each side and put little sticks beside the snare to funnel the rabbit to the snare. you had the right idea with.. continued.

  • they can smell any oder on the rope so non oder sparay on the rpoe would work but still a good job

  • nice job but put one near a den that what i do when snaring

  • dont be too close or thell run but on the othere hand nice

  • Hey man youre snares look good but, when i snare i have had more luck to not use a tipee but to use a wall thats beside the snare:

    llOll ^ the " o " is the snare

  • they fine to me mate iv acctally juat made 15 snares today and im setting them tommorow never thought of the corn though mabey that mill work and ya u have to kinda put the snare in a narrow place so that the rabbit has to go through ur snare and try not to disturbe the acctual traill but any way looks good to me good luck

  • yeah your doing good just for snaring i would find there den and put it in front of that and if there is more than one den the put it by them to cause u will get a lot more rabbits that way.

  • try not to disturb the area you intend on setting the snares place them 3-4 inches off the ground not 1-2 as most people say and make the snares aout 6-7 inches wide and allow time for your scent to dissaper but still check daily.

  • when I was a kid, we caught a big "mama luke" skunk...what a mess! I would just use more snares. You will get one.

  • hi there i live in england and theres millions of rabbits i love snaring make my own but only cost a pound, i shoot em as well your snars look ok 2me but they where all emty good look mate keep trying .......roger rabbit....

  • Try #1 longspring footholds in trail work great for rabbits! I used Iceburg leaflettuce to bait with. Trust me I caught more rabbits with this method!!

  • yes the tee pee will work as long as you didnt tret on the rabbit path . it will work !

  • I don't use snares but i showed my uncle this video and he says they look fine.

  • make the diffrent kind of snare it works better.

  • I've got lots of possums and therefore don't bait my snares. It takes a lot of work to make a possum edible. De-musked completely, boiled in several changes of clean water to kill the gamey smell, and then baked. Rather catch a rabbit. Kill, clean, and cook. Simple.

  • I have been snaring for about 3 years all together i have had about 72 rabbits over the years but only in the right seasons. erm ye youve got a good trail and the snares look fine. Just make the teepee trail a but wider and dont bait it it dont really work tbh. So ye make to teepee in to more of an arch or two walls. good snarin tho

    good luck.

  • i know where u are lol

  • the 2 snare was to small

  • sorry thats not wat i ment, i ment to say

    how big is the loop?

  • i'm trying to learn too i think thats how you do it

  • is it legal to set up a snare

    with out any licence

  • yes

  • i have gotten around 6 so far and quit cause i wanna keep some around

  • @furharvester11 you should out brush around your snares and cut good solid stick and stick it in the ground and brush in all around it and the path so the rabbits cant run around it and dont use corn or anything to attract them becasue it will slow them down and they wontget caught up

  • it would be better if you show a video catching one.... but still cool snares...

  • So did you ever get one?

  • dont bait it because they will see the snare and avoid it

  • the teepee idea isnt going to work but like bjour0 said, try making a funnel type thing, thats how i do it and it works great

  • your not that bad the tee pee idea isnt gona work tho i tryed it. try putting some small birch trees by it they love to eat them

  • dude ur not bad ull probably catch it but you should not make tipees lke that.. think about making a funnel on the side of the track that it going smaller to the snare;) ive ben doing this for 7 years now

  • you shouldn't set more than one snare on a line, if it is built right you shouldn't need another, and if it doesn't work good the rabbit will be wary and may slip off the trail

    good luck

  • In bad weather your snare locations will be easier to find if you tie a bright colored ribbon to the branches above. Your traps should work good. Are you useing brass or steel wire? When you catch one, give us an update. Good Luck!

  • how does the snare work. so the rabbt goes through and the snare tightens or wat.reply

  • the rabbit walks in the snare the loop goes around neck and he feels it so he takes off and it tightens around him so he cant get it off mine are made so it only holds them there and dont hurt them

  • @furharvester11 why would u want to hold em a snar eis susposed to choke em out?

    peace

  • yo thatz a good idea with the teepee that u have made, im gonna try that and like what other ppl have already said, but u shouldnt use bait cuz then they stop and might see the snare

  • ya i dont use bait no more and have stopped snaring cause i wanna save some for next year lol

  • put out like 20+ traps and you should get atleast 2 or more a day without bait!

  • it looks like you did a pretty good job but you might not want to walk right on your trail

  • awesome today is also my fist time snaring rabbits i like what youve done and the feed back you got will also help me thanks

  • You're doing good for the first time. What you should do is create some cover over your snares to keep crows and ravens from seeing your rabbit, when you snare one. Also, put some small branches along the sides of your snares to prevent the rabbit from going around .....good luck.

  • and also... ya dont use like big bait..but like alittle sprinkel i don't think it hurts i use just a little a little sprinkle and i dont think that it defleces them...good luck!

  • umm i think that was a wickedly good vidoe for your first time...better than those vidoe game ones..but um right after snow fall and if you do do the teepee's jaust kindof make shore they are spaced out...like wider...good luck...and like i said...great firsat video

  • When You catch a rabbit on a trail put one more snare because more then just one rabbit uses the trail there could at least be four more rabbits because I caught four rabbits on just one trail and keep on tring :)

  • yeah u dont use bait... if it stops it may see the wire plus it may attract coyotes

  • cool, i dont know why but i like traps, i think they are cool, please post a video if you get one on any advice, and please add more videos!!

  • hey, i would not use any bait..the rabbit is following the trail, if it does stop to nibble the corn it may see the snare wire...also instead of a tp or a funnel just stick up branches around the snare, block the trail on both sides with branches so the only place the rabbit can go is into the snare.also you only need 1 snare on each trail if it is set properly...keep at it, it takes practice..

  • make. so put up a couple in one area and then move on some 200 metres and set up some more.

the snares should be about 6 fingers wide in diameter, and abotu 2 fingers off of the ground, let me know when you get one i am interested to hear about it...good job keep on :)....o and use 20 guage brass wire

  • hey i got my fisrt one yesterday it was awesome thanks for all the info

  • i would not put any corn or lettuce or any other veges on the trail, for bait during the winter you want to use birch branches or popalar branches. and instead of that tipee tunnel try taking spruce bows or any other kind of branches and make like a cone shape that funnels them through to the snare, i would also on put only 2-3 snares maximum on one trail, fore rabbits tend to use only the trail that they themselves
