The sliding dobie should have gotten first. Take it from an owner of 2 dobies, they do NOT take to water well at all. But I've had cats that love hottubs. Some big cats hunt in water, too. Dobie was the definite winner.

Swimming is not dangerous for rodents. ALL rodents can swim. They need that skill to survive in the wild. You just need to be nearby to pick it out of the water. I wouldn't reccommend letting a hamster swim for more than a minute though.

Actually, there are a lot of cats that love water. It just has to be at their own intention. If you throw a cat in water without their consent, expect revenge.

You actually have to give your cat a bath once in a while cuz they sometimes don't clean themselves well or get into something. Some owners who knows this start bathing their cat when they're young. The cat will eventually get use to it and some will actually look forward to bath time or willingly go in the shower when you bathe.

nintendokid, just a little something: if you have more than one cat, you probably won't mind getting another- because although some cats for some reason or another LIKE water, there is a breed that is the opposite- where most life water, and only a few dont. sorry, forget the breed's name though. :(
