This movie kicks Avatar stright in the blue balls! IMO (fan boys take a chill pill) District 9 is a great movie! Oh and as for the humans not being portrayed right, to quote Alan Moore "if there had been a superman ever, the world would unrecognizable today" the same can be said about aliens and of this kind of scenario.

I agree, I really liked this movie. I didn't know what to expect and it blew me away. It had a great premise and great characters that you liked. I particularly liked Christopher and Oliver (the father and son alien) the best. I also fucking loved those weapons. I love sci-fi/action movies that blow shit up (and I'm a girl!). WOO!

It's not well thought out. As brutal as the humans and military are in the movie, they aren't human enough to do something about the ship. They just leave it there. Why? So 20 years later, Christopher and Chris jr. can take a ride back to their home. Character motivation is important. Bad plot device.

A. they didnt explain where they came from

B. Didnt explain why they are here

C. Didnt explain why they were starving

D. Didnt explain why the ONLY thing on their ship was weapons(seems fishy)

I think it was implied that the aliens were just drones, or workers. Any questions they were asked they probably weren't even told the answers to upon leaving. Plus, these little ETs didn't seem too smart. Like if the majority of them came from the Deep South of their planet.

And the ship was going back to the alien homeworld. Christopher said so.

Also, I'm betting that the aliens weren't expecting to find a planet with life.

A. it was an allegory for Apartheid government, and too much focus on where the come from would detract attention from that.

B. There was no master plan, and we arent sure why they are here, there was an accident of some kind, just like how real life refugees are usually in their predicaments for many complicated reasons and not just one simple one.
