@MrCrisssykes: Boogie is in the R&R Hall Of Fame. He is bad as well! I won't take that away from him. In all honesty, he also did not get the credit he deserved however, Skeet's work in my opinion was not recognized at all...
Skeet > Bootsy. That Guitar Riff Catfish trademarked in Funkentelchy is soo catchy.. Michael Hampton doesnt belong on this song.. he makes it too metal sounding... they needed Catfish or Garry on the solo for this cut.. to funky
@explorations It's an Alembic. I think he got it just B4 the tour. Notice the Larry Graham/Stanley Clarke style solo. This was B4 bassists were really doing solos like this except Clarke, and he was the first. I'm talking pre-Marcus Miller. This is a big production show. Skeet became co-director wit' Bernie. he was all of 19 I believe. That's Junie Morrison on the Minimoog.
I invited a young lady to see George-First Avenue MPLS in 08- and surprisingly she never seen him in concert. I had to warn her that she was i for a treat and prepare to ears for 4 HOURS of NON-STOP FUNK! George stayed in the 60' s and 70's all nite! It was FUNKYLISCIOUS!
Mooloo3000: George is still alive and he frequents the TC. Since being emancipated , he controls all his masters and live performances. Check out his website for upcoming shows. Peace
I"m adding my 2 cents In Another great unknown is Nate Phillips of pleasure! youtoube pleasure universal and click on some of the pleasures songs too!
Skeet is by far one of the greatest unsung Bassists around! He should have been inducted with P/F in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! This is an injustice since he and the Baltimore crew took PFunk to a whole new level!!
The funk saved us all when Hendrix moved on to the next level...this is without a doubt...THE FUNKIEST offering by Parliament, the only cut that comes close is The JB's, 'Doin' It To Death'...this funk is so round, so firm...so FULLY PACKED...'where'd you get YOUR funk from?'
I saw that tour in 1978, in Tidewater VA....these guys were funkin harder than anybody in the history of the world. In fact just watching this video is curing my ills...god DAMN.
EVERYbody was FUNKIN'!!!! A baby-faced Skeet Curtis...umph, umph, UMPH! And you know what? I think I'm gonna try to bring the CAPE back into black fashion!

Ashame these young kids got this crap to listen to now. They didn't have this real music n its all programmed beats and sound effects.

Rough. Raw. Pure. Direct. That´s what´s all about. What a pity that we hardly can hear such tunes. And Skeet: nice rumble!

@oRuTRa45 Yeah when it comes to getting a more treble sound out of Alembics Skeet, John Entwhistle, Stanley Clark and Mark King seem to do it well.
cjjaxxon 1 year ago
@cjjaxxon Stanley Clarke is my favorite. Can't forget about Louis Johnson either.
oRuTRa45 1 year ago
@oRuTRa45 Ohh yeah! Can't for get him either though he was pictured on an album with an Alembic but I never saw a picture of him playing it.
