  • what kind of speed louder do you use

  • think you got them good

  • Great job Hickok45!!! Your awesome work is greatly appreciated! Going out today to purchase a XDM 9mm Competition. What is your advice on the best home defense round? Thanks again, Bro

  • That red barrel has tetanus written all over it! Yikes! That thing has seen some action.

  • do you think the xd 5.25 is a good home defense weapon

  • @XGHOSTDOGXx for handgun absolutely, but in my opinion and many will agree (including FPSRussia and possibly Hickok45) a Shotgun, remington or mossberg, with Birdshot is probably the best home defense weapon

  • I really hope nobody thinks that trespassing on his property is a good idea.

  • how many times ive seen video games...red barrel means its full of explosive fuel and the enemy prefers it as cover lol

  • thanks for the vid man very helpful to me...

  • That barrel didn't protect you >: D

  • Hey Hickok... great, great video. I just bought a Glock 23 and am thinking about getting into GSSF. Having never seen a real competition, it was nice to get some insight into the scene. You mentioned in one of your videos that the .40 cal received a 'major caliber' bonus. Is this true for GSSF or do they separate the calibers (or do you just compete with a little bit of a disadvantage). Also, is there a holster that you recommend for the 23 that would work well in GSSF?

  • why that thing is open,,for cooling ???

  • @yuancg

    Its for balance.

  • @yuancg Its to reduce weight, to make the long slide the same weight as a normal slide - which means you can use the same springs and such.

  • @snafuedem and it's just the casing that's aluminum, not steel

  • STEEL AMMO? Is this bad for your gun?

  • @snafuedem i've never noticed anything bad about it =\

  • nice piece

  • hey hickok what was the name of the thing u used to reload the magazine

  • @123nickthebeast speed loader i think

  • Comment removed

  • @123nickthebeast

I believe it is an Uplula speed loader.

  • what caliber does this gun come in besides 45 acp (if it does).

  • @fishblade2 9mm and .40s&w. The new XDm can hold 20 rounds of 9mm ammo, thats a lot of firepower.

  • i hate ranges there is always some one there with a bigger gun

  • @richard133morris Not my range. Most people are sporting a damn .22. It's nice to see some other stuff now and then. :D

  • Love the XDM!

  • I'm interested in the xdm 5.25 or the gen4 G34. I would love to see a comparison video to help me choose.

  • @papermoonmarc

I have a gen3 G35(with 9mm conversion barrel)would like to see xdm 5.25 comparison also. 9mm conversion barrels are also available for xdm.

  • Hey. I recently bought the XDM 5.25 in the 9mm about a month ago. I have to say that its the much better choice than the G34. The XDM comes with 3 mags, a holster, and a double mag carrier. The front fiber optic sight and adjustable rear sights are a large improvement over the standard glock sights. Also, the magazines have a capacity of 19 rounds compared to the glocks 17. Plus I think until the end of November you send in proof of ourchase a get 3 xtra magazines and a double mag carrier free!

  • @kittyman187 Well, capacity isn't everything. Are the ergonomics actually better?

  • I though this pistol was a loaner.. how many rounds have you put through it? lol

  • @aznlonewuff In my opinion yeah. But it's all personal preference

  • Love it, must have been a relatively hot day i am assuming? :)

  • Well I saw one Sunday the 14th and true to my word bought it. $699 in my neck of the woods here in Eastern WA. I shot it yesterday to dial the sights in which didn't take much. I need to shoot it more to develop a firm opinion on it's shootablity though. I actually like the S&W M&P better but really like the adjustable sights whick S&W doesn't offer at this time. We'll see how things shake out as I shoot it more.

  • I've been interested in this gun ever since I saw the first add in a magazine. I will buy the first one I see. Good vid!

  • Anybody notice the ant at 2:05 on the right side of the boxes.

I half expected hickok to unload. . .

  • Is it just me or did the first rounds fired on steel sound like the Imperial March?

  • i bought 1

  • Mr. Hickok, I'm having a real hard time deciding between this and the Glock 17. I shot both of them the other day and they were both incredible guns. Why is it so hard to choose between the two? Which one do you think I should go with?

  • @MrChris321991 springfeild hands down ive got 3 2 regular xd's and an xdm!

  • cool vid

  • Dude that tee shirt is awesome !

  • If everyone had the same personality as you, the world would damn surely be a better place :)

  • tried the discount code on ammoforsale and it said the code was invalid.

  • great video check mine out GoldenGunVideos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

aks ars mac10s and much more!!!!!

  • hickok45, it would be awesome if u shot the most powerful handgun in the world

  • I see you are now wearing a SpringField hat, no more Glock for MR. Hickok?? :-P

  • @Dangerousrobb Well, springfield have been giving him various weapons recently

  • "At this point I'm starting to think 'oh no.. I didn't shoot as fast as I was able to shoot'"

Why the heck do we do that?

Great video Hickock! Very helpful intro =)

  • a lot to learn from maestro...good vid sir

  • I see you got a new hat, did you get rid of your glock hat? :)

  • Love the gun ,but I rather go with the xdm 45.........

  • haha..i knew it, after listening to the radio show..

  • Really glad to see this video, Greg! If there was ever a COF on your property, target discrimination would be the hardest part! I'm not sure you would have any non-threats--your property is full of zombies, wild pigs and chickens, and even runaway zombie nanobot lawnmowers! No HNT penalties!

  • "...window. Winder, sorry, we're in Tennessee."

  • Thanks for the ammoforsale web site link, jus ordered so 9mm ammo

  • Damm i want to move wherever you live and have my own range.I live in shitty Ca with too many anti American laws. You rule thanks

  • @Stephaniebx3 I feel your pain, Ca is brutal on shooters! Happy Shooting!

  • Those cases sure are pretty.

  • always like your videos they keep me informed. been trying to decided between this and the new glock 4 gen..

  • Your BADAZZ!!

  • Well, your shooting a comp pistol... Why no STI Edge or STI Race Gun ???

  • Damn Hickok! You're a dead ringer with that puppy. I really like the CCI blazer ammo as well.

  • Excellent demonstration. I wish I had one of those mag loaders. I have the HKS type with the lever and I'm not too overly fond of it to be honest.

  • kewl!

  • If I didn't have a job I would watch Hickok45 videos all day. Keep them coming. Big fan here.

  • @ZeRoMaGz, Stick around; you might learn even more little tidbits about firearms. :-)

  • @hickok45 I was just wondering if Mr. Hickock is starting to enjoy the Springfield as much as he enjoys the Glock? Thanks for the great vidoes and information sir. Please keep up the fine work.:)

  • @hickok45 isnt the cartridge what is ejected after the bullet leaves the barrel i think hes wrong anyways nice job keep them videos coming

  • @ZeRoMaGz stop trolling you miserable fuck!

  • @ZeRoMaGz There are multiple names for bullets, rounds, shells, cartridges etc.....just as there are many names for people like you :) Keep on keepin on hickok45. Best reviews on youtube. Go VOLS!!!

  • loved the Andy Griffith show reference

  • ★★★★★

Now that's what I call entertainment! A hickok45 video with a huge stack of ammo!

  • this is a really great vid, love all the insight, I've been wanting to get to one of these competitions for a few years but didnt really know what i was to exspect, i'd like to see more of this kind of stuff in the future

  • if ammoforsale is hoping you showing their ammo and saying their name will advertise their stuff, let me just say, it is. i will be buying from them soon!

  • I am going to check out ammo for sale, cause I sent 2000 rounds out of my guns, mostly my Kel-tec 9mm yesterday!

  • you got any vids of you competing in matches?

  • Hickok great great explanations and practical tips on the matches, has anybody ever told you that you would be a great teacher. hahahahha :):)

  • Excellent very informative.

  • Heyy, good to see you get up and go a little bit! As always, great vid.

  • good job on the video guys, educational and fun to watch.

  • I don't know about the XDM, but my XD9 eats those aluminum casings and NEVER gives me any problems.I L.O.V.E. my Springfield!!!!

  • Hickok....you just went from hiding for your life to a review...:)

  • Great Video Hickok. We all appreciate these videos. Thank you

  • Nice video.

  • you should compete in top shot

  • Hickok, you sould be on "Sons of Guns."

  • @BassFishingFrenzy NO. That show is an absolute joke and a disgrace to the firearms community.

  • @huntwithairguns Now that I think about it, your right they act like us gun guys are F***king stupid!! my bad

  • Glock 34 trigger pull is 4.5 lbs. What's the trigger pull on the new XDm 5.25?

  • Thumbs up if you watch Hickok while handloading/reloading.

  • Hmmmmmmmmm, should I get an XD 5.25 or a Glock 34????

  • @rogermcgee1 glock magazines are versitile.i love that but they say not to use hot loads in them.that sux. xd is nice but only 3 mags? i need more.but capacity is great.i say the glock.

  • The things I would do for a pile of ammo like that...

  • Hey hickok, im actually looking in to doing this. Im a pretty good shot, I started shooting when I was 10 and im 13 now. Do you have any tips for being more accurate? Thanks

  • Are there age brackets, caliber, or type of handgun "catagories"

  • Too bad this gun, unlike the XD Tactical cannot compete in IPSC Production division, just like the G34 the barrel is longer than the allowed maximum of 127mm or 5".

  • I really like how looks the XDm 5.25, looks like a glock 18 put with a colt1911

  • Hickok, what is the reality factor you talk about in IDPA vs IPSC?

  • @Papieck37, You have to study it, but IDPA makes more of cover and tactical reloads, etc.

  • Suddenly hickok45 looks like a young man running around :D

  • Let's start a new Org... REDNECK IPSC !!!

  • @jmrgolf, I'm all for that; instead of nice cardboard and standard pepper popper targets, we use nothing but old hub caps, melons, bed pans, and shot-up road signs for targets! :-) Also, in order to enter the match, you have to be wearing work boots, overalls, and a John Deere cap. All Range Officers must go by the name of Foxworthy. Sounds like fun to me!

  • @hickok45 What about Glock caps!

  • @hickok45 Dont forget having a dip of snuff and chew in at all times

  • Hickok, I'm gonna support you because I love what you do. Going to order 500 rounds of Tula .45acp tonight with your coupon code!

  • @kbent88, Thanks. We don't try to clutter up our videos with trying to sell you a lot of stuff, but when you support a company that helps us out, it does end up helping US, too, indirectly. Ammo is the "breath of life" for what we do. :-)

  • @kbent88 Why in Gods name would you spend a dollar on Tula ammo? I'm sorry, not trying to be a snob but that stuff isn't worth dirt.

  • @AdoreYouInAshXI I have had very good results using it as target ammo for up to 25 yards. These days I have to watch all my pennies, The one thing I don't like is trying to clean it up after a shoot, it is not as easy to police the brass.

  • @ZombieTacticalStore Yeah, it's pretty dirty. I don't like it because it jams up inside my mags every time I try to shoot it. Not just one mag either, I have problems with nearly every mag I load it in. But if it works for you then go for it.. I love the price tag of it.

  • @kbent88 Tula is steel cased. Not aluminum or brass. I would highly recommend against it. Very hard on the extractor of the pistol

  • @DSMtsi23 So I've heard. its also poly coated so im not too worried about it. Ill keep an eye on the extractor though. thanks.

  • @scape05, Yeah, I think it's something about the adrenaline still flowing or something; there's almost a natural tendency to see how fast you can "unload, show clear, and holster." :-)

  • hickok45 is a boss... enough said

  • nice video

  • I know who to call if and when the zombie apocalypse occurs.

  • Is there a minimum caliber you can use for matches? For instance, would a .22 knock down the targets? This was a very interesting video. Thanks.

  • IDPA=I dont play around?

  • I get mine tomorrow!! Now if I could only shoot like you

  • If you're interested in competition shooting google "Power Factor Show"

  • Now Rob Leatham know your techniques and might use it in his next competition... lol

  • well now i know who i want with me if i ever end up in a fire fight

  • Thank you for the competition info. Very helpful!

  • When you reload are you required to keep the muzzle forward?

  • Great video Hickok. Very informative. Might have to try a competition one of these days looks like fun.

  • have you ever had to shoot anyone?

  • @Matttodd21, Just the "undead."

  • Hey Hickok would you be interested in doing a video using the XD45, I'll send my 4 Magazines with it? An XD in 45 ACP vs the other XD's

  • @Chris090883 , I reviewed the XDm .45.

  • @Chris090883 Check out his channel. Type XD in the search bar, there you will find what you seek.

  • @Chris090883 What would be the point of comparing them?

  • @TheDubDoubt The better question should be why not. We compare Glocks, Rugers, and even 1911's again each other why not Springfields

  • @Chris090883 Lol bro what are you talking about? A 1911 is a style of gun, while the only two are brands. I don't know what the point is of comparing different calibers of one brand of guns. What would you learn except the difference in caliber of bullets which is already well documented?

  • always learning from you sir! thanks

  • love the action shooting ... i guess he got my email.

  • "well hickok, isn't it possible the bullet can go through the papoer target, ricochet of the soil or a rock, off the steel target, and richet and hit you with enough velocity to do damage?"- what the hell is this, final destination? - hickok45, ehemm- Greg- is a trained firearms proffesional- great job greg- from a long time subscriber

  • Loved it. Another incredible video. Thank you so much for what you do.

  • You should re name this video Introduction to IPSC

  • @MrGreenJelly , Maybe so, I really meant for the little IPSC primer to just be a part of the video, but I ended up putting more time into it than I thought I might. At least a subtitle. I'll think about it.

  • i think you shoot this gun better then your glocks :-0

  • i REALLY enjoyed this, and learned a lot..isnt the internet great?! thanks Hickok

  • Another great video. Thank you.

  • @evanthemack yes. i realized that while in the shower 5min ago....im an idiot.

  • Great video...

  • 19rds of .45??? WOWZERSS!!

  • @roydied15 9mm

  • good video as always, are you liking the XD a lot more these days?

  • @dogstar1967, I like this XDm just fine. As I mention from time to time, the bigger a handgun / pistol is, the easier it is for me to really like it. When we're talking about a carry gun, the bar gets raised pretty high. All sorts of things that don't matter with a big range gun DO matter when it's something I'm going to be carrying or depending on for defense. Size-efficiency and operational simplicity are huge factors on smaller guns, but these things are not a big deal with a range gun.

  • Great video! Thanks for sharing your knowledge with all of us. I've always wanted to shoot in a few matches around here. This gives me some confidence by knowing what to expect.

  • you should of shot through the barrel. LOL

  • @hickok45 Would you please try those 124gr Blazers in your PM9? I cannot run them through my CM9 without it stove piping 2-3 times per 50 rounds. This has been vey disappointing to me that a firearm of this quality has issues

  • @Bear5491, I'll try to remember to try them in my PM9, either on or off video. Send me a message in a few days about it, and I'll tell you how it went.

  • I think you could still win them

  • I got to see one of these today at Sherwood Guns here in Ky. Wish I had the extra coin this is a really nice piece.

  • Another very informative and nicely done vid. Good job guys

  • Barney bullet hahaaaha.

  • my glock shoots brass in my face, this springfield looks much better in that respect

  • @tk4227.....me too, cant wear a ball cap backwards or else i get hot brass caught in the adjuster part of the hat.

  • Thanks for this video. This really takes some of the mystery out of competition shooting. I have shot one IDPA and on GSSF match. They were both a lot of fun and the people running them were very helpful. I didn't know anyone who had shot in one of these matches so I was a little intimidated since they were an unknown. Your video gives everyone some idea of what to expect.

  • Dang, I almost didn't watch this video because I have no interest in the new XD. But then, Hickok shares some awesome stories and tips about competition, and I almost missed it! I guess I need to watch every video, every time.

  • Hickok shoots fast, shaves time like a razor

He once loaded brass, now he's knee deep in Blazer.

If you shot at your 3/4 speed in our club, you'd take top gun every night! Great video.

  • Great to see an experienced shooter explain what to expect at a match so clearly. Lots of fun just watching the decisions and emphasis on safety. I am not surprised to find out there was a safety range officer involvement. There was too much emphasis on safety in the past videos to not have that mindset. A teacher mind is teaching in or out of a classroom to pass on the good traits. It is what gives us hope for the future generations to do it well and right.

  • 11:40

  • Just order 1000 of 9mm $202 delivered, Cheaper than Walmart, Thank you sir.

  • @OilTheGun Did you get the Blazers??

  • @jigsaw183 No. Magtech 115GR. 199-15+shipping

  • @hickok45 When I was young my father's friend taught me how to shoot. I shot a .38 special and it scared the begizzus out of me. I was shaking and developed a "flinch". well I am older and more experienced and not a bad shot. I feel I can't quite shake the flinch response. How do I break this nasty habit?

  • @jigsaw183

Get a .22 (preferably a DA revolver if thats what you plan to shoot or a Semi Auto) and get out and practice the fundamentals, sight picture, trigger press. Eventually you'll teach your body to focus on the sights and your trigger press and the gun firing will become a complete suprise. After enough practice that flinch that will be gone and you'll be a good shot because of all the practice.
