This one isn't a fan film, I was just less subtle at the time in regards to acknowledging the films that were influencing me, in this case the films being Nowhere to Hide, Patlabor 3 and Cowboy Bebop.
But I'd generally lump student films in with fan films, so your point is still valid :)
ok, you know what, maybe I didn't express myself correctly.
This is good.
:D
I liked it better than Sterilising Sol-3. However, due to the film-noir hardboiled protagonist that you are straight away introduce I automatically became a little judgemental. Also, the reason why i didn't comment on Sterilising Sol-3 was because although I thought it wasnt as well shot as Dichotomy, it was more original, therefore:
It was good

However, you have made two really good amateur short films here.
The fact that you shot them both very differently, it shows that you have a cinematographic and stylistic range, and that is REALLY good and rare in amateur filmmakers these days, in my opinion. Therefore...KEEP MAKING FILMS MAN!
thanks for the comments and clarification, both definitely appreciated. Both of those films were shot by the same guy but Dichotomy was directed by myself and Sol-3 by fellow student Sean Lahiff. But that was back in 2004.
Have long since left behind the amatuer filmmaking and joined the pro ranks, but love to share old films with people. Dichotomy was my second film. Check out The Courier and let me know what you think, i'd be keen for you're opinion, as that was my next after Dichotomy :)
Looking Glass is what i'd officially class as amateur filmmaking. It was my first film and I was 18. Then there's a bunch of student films while I was studying screen at Flinders, now I guess I'm an indie filmmaker who manages to freelance on big films.
If you love making films, don't give up, its tough but rewarding :)
You did an excellent job with the split-screening I'll say. I recognize that reference from the Cowboy Bebop commercials. Strange though that I've been doing virtually the same in my film classes before I saw this. Maybe we'll meet later on in life as film directors.
mmm, i hate fan films as a rule unless theyre done REALLY well, but this is ok, good shots;
i like that in a youtuber
