@Reality51381 i know y'all want to think it's some conspiracy...but by the numbers, they just don't hold up.. so networks can't keep them around... Girlfriends on BET/CW/UPN was never pulling in substantial numbers... just suitable numbers... and BET decided to trim the fat. Even black viewers sadly, don't tune in as often to black shows...and instead watch all of the other stuff on primetime like GA/DHW. BET could have given them a proper sendoff though... that's for sure...

I remember after the first season I we were like this is gonna be canceled, but it lasted but I really think with all my heart that when Toni left the show went down hill. They needed her because Mya was sickening and couldn't act and Joan was bossy and needy. The only other good character was Lynn.

running the streets ending up in jail some of these shows didnt have a proper finale so if you going to end the show at least do a finale like bringing back a character that left. family matters got cancelled without any notice because the last episode was suppose to be the wedding of steve and laura and they didnt show it because the episode of steve coming back from space didnt get enough ratings so they cancelled the finale.CW bring back the shows we love

ok am i the only one but has any one else notice a lot of black sitcoms have gotten cancelled or is on the verge of being cancelled after a certain amount of seasons. i.e. the cosby show, all of us, out all night(90's show) everybody hates chris,one on one,the game, half and half,girlfriends. there are too many shows getting cancelled and the majority of them is reaching us young people as a good role model for us, something for us to achieve in our lives instead of running the streets

If I recall correctly Girlfriends ended season 7 with Joan's marriage or proposal/wedding. The was considered the series finale. All of the loose ends were tied. But, due to popular demand and protest the CW brought it back for one last season. The handwriting was on the wall. We saw it coming. Still. I guess they could have received a proper sendoff. I believe NBC did this to A Different World as well.

I dont know the particulars, but I went to a website of hers (Jill Marie Jones) where the same question was asked and the answer had to do with a contract. The four ladies made a pact with one another that they would only renew the deal for a certain amount of money and behind Jill's back, the other 3 ladies (Persia White, Golden Brooks, and Tracy ellis Ross) signed the new deal for less money and didnt include Jill in their decision. Jill felt betrayed and thus did not return to the show.

I miss UPN.That channel had a lot of good black shows,then they had to mess that up by creating the CW.First they cancelled All of Us now Girlfriends and I'm even hearing that they might cancel The Game which in my opinion is a good show and yet they still have shows like Gilmore Girls on there?
