  • Sorry bro, I have to disagree with your numbers. I'm a certified ASE and MECP mechanic, been turning wrenches professionally for 8 years, and in a garage for 12. I've also owned two of these outstanding 4K lbs vehicles. They came with 250 hp and tq from the factory which means close to 210 for both at the wheels. Also, rebuilding the engine and porting it and bore would only get you 300 max. Unless you have a specially built motor, not possible man. At all. Show the slips to prove me wrong tho

  • Where are you getting the numbers in your description? 4.0 liter 32 valve 8 cylinder is right but the rest seems way off. I'm getting one of these tomorrow though so I can't hate too much. +1 for grandpa cars!!

  • first off, you cold air intake and exhaust added 65 hp and 70lb/ft of torque? HIGHLY doubtful. Second, you know its top speed is 161mph how? the gauges only go up to 140

  • Its not really modified I see a cold air intake and like 2 1/2" exhaust. And the car is rated 270hp stock cold air intake might give you like 5 and those are more than likely just tips I doubt you rebuilt your exhaust judging by the sound. I have one they are sick cars but its a luxury car not american muscle lol

  • Ok man I have a 1998 aurora and like these ppl say you are wrong on many counts. the 4 liter aurora engine puts out about 250 hp. not the 315 u claim. i see u have exhaust which might give u 5 hp and the cold air maybe 1 to 2 hp. the autobahn package simply means u have no govanor at 110 like the other v8 auroras. and looking at the placement of ur air intake it is functioning more like a warm air intake then a cold air. its not low where col air comes into the engine. jus an FYI.

I have 150 plus hours of track time experience at Road Atlanta, most of you would be hard pressed to have the driving skills I have. Putting 10k or whatever in an engine and flooring a car to drag race takes way less skill then driving on a track or on the street. Thats why 16 to 24 year olds are 10 times more likely to bite the dust, in which most of you folks are. Get some skills then the car, till then, LOLOLLOL

  • Actually, you're wrong on many accounts. First, let's see your dyno numbers because unless you swapped a 300hp 4.6 in there or one of the auctioned shelby engines, there's NO FREAKING WAY you have 315hp. Especially with straight pipes. Unfortunately straight pipes or not, the exhaust manifold are very small and restrict your flow. Not to mention they go to one pipe and it's tiny! If you haven't insulated your CAI from the engine compartment, your sucking hot air robbing power from the car.

  • This is Khronin, I traded the Aurora and another car in for a Vibe GT. Im going to get the supercharger put on, and a racing clutch and since its a 2800 lb car with about 250 hp, I should be slightly slower then the lotus elige which hits 60 in 5 sec and tops at 170, vibe gt has same powertrain and transmission of the lotus.

  • try using mobile 1 oil from new. we tore dow my buddy's 5.0 ford motor last spring to modify it,when we checked the specs on the main bearings,they were still factory spec,all thanks to mobil 1.oh yeah ,my work car is a ciera 3100,another engine people bash,but are really great engines.when i get my specs for my cams,i will post them for you.

  • my 4.0 has only 46,556 on it. not to mention my custom ground cams? my 96 olds work car has 214,000 on it and still runs as strong as it did when it was new,gets 30mpg hwy,cranks 189-199 psi on all cylinders. what were you saying?

    stock was 250hp 260ft-lbs

    with real headers,intake,and 3inch full exhaust,pcm,and a dyno tune it would have maby 275-280crank hp and equal torque and that is max possible you figure that every 100k miles and the car looses 10% of it's stock max hp

    so saying it's a 95 and it's 09 i would put it at no more than about 260crank hp now and about 265ft-lbs max

    no more

    that equates to about 195-215whp as it stis and about as fast as stock

My cams are not special,my uncle says the are 4.6 units w/ 4.6 vavletrain,and befor i bought the car off of him,my aunt who passed away had ran it low on oil,that is why he had it worked on.i called turbo connection were i had it dyno in 2006,he updated his software,and no longer has numbers,but he says he thinks it was 249hp@the wheels,and 260 trq@the wheels,and that sounds about right. so you are right smartass!these are not the exact numbers,going this spring for new ones.

  • These cars are great and were very powerful during their time, but there is no way you can get more than 275HP out of these engines. The market just hasn't made enough upgrades for them. Now if you got a full sized Northstar with 300HP stock, then you can really do some work on it.

    This car isn't a race car, it is a performance luxury sedan. It is quick and it can get 140mph, but that no way means it is meant to race!

    And it is "UH-ROAR-UH", not A-RAR-ER. And it is an import crusher.

  • I raced this car in a cannonball run back in 2001, and i came in 6th out of about 150 cars.Including going thru one state in a driving rainstorm at 120mph. I had no trouble keeping up with cars that cost 10 times as much, including picking up a ferrari driver whos car broke down.The bang for the buck factor on a well kept aurora=priceless. to all you busters out there, keep looking at the back end,I have over 200 hours of track time at road atlanta, so I can "DRIVE",Son I'm a million miles away.

  • it not an arurer its an aurora and you have the ricer size inverted cone, mines twice as big and i had the same one on mine and still dont have 315 hp. this engine with a 80mm TB bore over stock 75mm with the caddy brain mod and 60 psi injectors used on the aurora 2 gens over 55 psi on these plus cat free, resonator only + 3" straight pipes then you'll be 300 hp 300 lb-ft exactly. i know this. oh and get a bigger cone your starving your engine

  • well see heres the thing. i own a 97 old aurora 2. im getting 367 horses out of a slightly modified 4.o motor. i have reprogramed the air to fuel mixture and turned up the timing. put different cams in it. i have true dual magnaflow high flow 3 inch exhaust. cold air intake. 1/8 mile is 8.9 seconds. i also have put a stall converter in it. it stalls out to 2500rpm wich is a 1000 rpm higher than the factory stall. these cars will eat most 4 cylinder cars

And Im gonna put a speedo that can show over 140, to see what she can do.I have high flow cats also, I could order any engine i want from GM but Im trying to keep it as close to original, cross drilled rotors r next, maybe a supercharger,lol

  • You're not pushing 315, champ. It would take a lot more than that, we're talking complete swap, for the L47 cannot build that kind of power without some serious modification. And that looks like a really stock L47 to me. Sounds like one, too.

    And before you think I am cutting you down, I myself have a '97 Autobahn Aurora. They are nice cars, and fairly quick, but wont make 300+hp without touching a crane at some point in time. It sounds like mine - fairly stock. She looks nice, though.

  • There is no possible way to get that much power out of this engine with the garbage mods you have installed. An el cheapo cold air intake (which gets nothing but hot air in the aurora engine bay) from autozone and a replacement exhaust does not add 50-70hp.

    Aside from those 2 things, there are no significant mods for this engine.. many have tried and failed. Now put down mommy's camera and go back to playin with the cat.

  • Plus I take care of my cars, and after all the mods were done I had it tuned at a caddy dealership and they said Im putting a little over 300 hp,I say 315 maybe, my numbers r realistic. a .5 sec drop in 0-60 with my mods is about right 32 valve knucklehead. Caddy said only problem is the transmission can handle 155mph all day long, with no governor they estimate I could probably hit 161.I estimate i would have to put 5k in the si, to make it even. 33k to run with a car I have about 3 k in,LOLOL

I can tell u r a jap lover, well the civic has been in the shop twice since new, 4 months old, aurora has been in the shop once in last 3 years. All my mods are done by Gm technicians. Its a 32valve v8, 13 year old car and after 110 a brand new civic si with intake and exhaust is about 6 car lenghts by the time im hitting about 140. ecu gov removed

  • There is no way that HOT air intake and exhaust took your car from 250hp and 260 ft/lbs to 315hp and 330 ft/lbs. Be realistic man! Even if you swapped in a 4.6 caddy motor you wouldn't have that. And the speed limiter kicks in at 135-140mph.
