@dexter158 so far I know p2p is available :3 just check out atlus side xD they even have a special edition ... Well punishment looks to retro ... For me ... Errrrrrrrrr especially the intro ~~"
I like the soundtrack style for P3 and P4, but yeah I agree with you, it's really awesome to know Atlus put a option to listen to the original soundtrack [and the old opening is still available too, you just have to wait a the start screen or watch in the gallery], they actually care about their fans. :D
2 years later? More like a few months. Innocent Sin took place during the summer of '99 (the real 'Grand Cross' celestial event took place on August 17-18, go ahead look it up) and this is brought up early in EP. It's been a month or two, at most. Not that it means all that much, considering the circumstances of how EP's story is even taking place. But discussing it further is spoilerish so I'll stop now.
If they make a psp remake of this game, which I'm pretty sure they will considering Persona 2 Innocent Sin is coming out for the PSP, Maya better not be a silent protagonist! It just doesn't work after she was the most outgoing person in Innocent Sin.
How is Persona 2, 3 and 4 relatated to each other? I don´t really get it -.-" I haven´t played persona 2 or 3 but I´ve played 4 (Isn´t that more of a side story?).
@ToMuchRandom Their plots have nothing to do with each other. Each of them is a stand-alone experience. Persona 2: Innocent Sin and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment are the only Persona games that have any plot connection between each other. There are a few cameos from the other Persona games, but they aren't related by plot.
This game? No. It was Persona 2: Innocent Sin that gave you the option. During the course of the game, your party members will ask certain questions, or you will be given choices that will influence whom your MC will be close to. One of those will be a male character in your party.
I like the character art style here better than p3 and p4. It's anime style, yet different. P3 and P4 looks too similar and generic to most anime styles now. But I'm just nit picking.
@decapattack Oh, but they will. They just announced a remake for IS on the PSP in Japan, and I'm quite sure AtlusUSA will release it in the states. :)
if they make persona 5 they should not bring philemon back into it i like it in p4 how they obtain there persona abililty they arent just granted it you know makes the story cooler
...you were granted that ability. Well, three people (including you) were and it branches off after that because your ability to enter tvs is what gives your party members the chance to face themselves.
So in retrospect...everyone gaining their persona, including you, was through the work of another. No difference. Philemon was still in P3-4 anyways.
I won't spoil too much, though. Finish P3 then P4, then come back. =P
As for references...a character from a past game prior to P3 was mentioned in a news report. Easy to miss since you need to check daily. Tatsuya and Maya anyone? I love the nods to P2.
He doesn't play any real role in P4, so you can safely eliminate him from your list of suspects lol. He's simply watching the protagonists and his friends. You can tell he's around by the butterflies in the save points.
Aren't Tatsuya and Maya the online gaming names for the main character and his school teacher in P3? Does that have any significance or real connection to this game?
Not as compelling or deep as the Innocent Sin, but still way ahead of most RPG's for the Playstation Imo. (well, not including Square titles, since its debateable if there can even be a comparision)
Oh, and by more recent titles I assume you mean Nocturne, Persona 3, and Persona 4. It's always nice to have an echo in here. In general, square games as a whole>SMT games as a whole. Though I think Persona 4 is better than any square game made by far.
yeah, but you also have to count the number of shovelware square has produced compared to the number of shovelware SMT has produced.
By shovelware i mean games made clumsily with noticeable flaws that people dont bother to change, and are just for the people stupid enough to buy them.
I think I would like to compare Persona 3 to the FF7 series. Because, they have some kind of similarity, as for Persona 4 it's better than any square games.
Yeah, I think Square's games crush the current generation of SMT games entirely, save for Nocturne. I'm not a fan of the current Persona games really at all. Earlier games, which kept up with the traditional inventory/loadout, party management, weapons management and intense demon fusion choices were completely ahead of Square IMO. The design as a whole should have completely crushed them.
is tatsuya still in this game too? havnt played innocent sin long enough but i know eternal punishment takes place after innocent sin. the red persona is tatsuya's tho, i think
If I remember correctly someone kills maya, philemon revives her and that action led to eternal punishment coming to pass. I could be wrong on that one though
Yeah, but how maya died was due to nyarlathotep either posessing someone or had someone kill maya. Other than that, philemon definitely turned back time so it didnt happen....which caused the events of eternal punishment to happen lol
no nyarlathotep was there with philemon and all the characters and while they were discussing something he teleported behind maya and stabbed her with a spear. because nobodies healing spell would work they decided to make the deal to turn back time.
Did that spear happen to be the spear of longinus or was it just a regular spear. Speaking of which, while we're talking about nyarlathotep, who do you think would win if they fought, him or nyx from persona 3? Also imagine those 2 fused and battled philemon. What do you think philemon's chances of victory would be?
im pretty sure it was the spear of loginus i dont remember that well. but personally i think nyx would win in a fight. and then philemons chances are low, because just cuz he gives the characters their personas doesnt mean hes strong.
Love this game, I've yet to beat it though, I wonder what happened to philemon from persona 1, he's not in 3 or 4 and I don't recall seeing him in this game. I wish they would remake this game as well as part one but with updated graphics.
well alot fo atlus games have some content that americas arent too fond of sadly wich makes alot of their games in the past have such small releases here persona 3and 4 are the only ones that made alot of sales wihout arrousing problems of content
In the beginning you fight the school's principle, and one of the teacher's at the school hangs himself in the belltower. It's just that the game did have a lot of things (teacher deaths, nazis, Jun being a homosexual)considered suggestive at the time.
That and it could've been bad for Atlus because the game was released in Japan close to the time the Columbine High School Massacre occured.
so what's the diff between P3 and the previous games? do the earlier versions also have the dark hour and evokers and stuff, or is that new to the series?
As far as I know yes, the evokers are a new concept, as is the Dark Hour. In fact the enemies appear in all hours of the day. I think they were demons instead of shadows and you could talk to them and even strike up contracts with them. Then there was also the rumor system that isn't in P3.
I just bought this from Amazon for $170 AU. I have a US PS2 which I bought while visiting the States last year just to play Persona 3. (Which didn't plan on an Aussie release at the time.) I was so happy to find P2 and P1 in English too. Still tossing up whether to spend so much on P1 taking into account it was totally screwed with for the English version. Do I need to play the first part of P2 (the Jap only one) to understand P2:Eternal Punishment?
Not necessarily. You'll only miss out on a few references and what exactly has changed between that game and this one. P2:EP pretty much starts as a blank slate and then fills you in a bit about what happened in the previous game as it goes.
As for P1, despite how badly it was "screwed" it turned out to be a pretty good game overall. Godly music, tough battles and lovable characters.
@Katt006 You can download an emulator and download the games and play for free using your PC. I don't know about PS2 but i've been playing a bunch of PS1 and game boy advance games this way with emulators. Check it out! Don't waste money on these old games as the new ones already leave a hole in our pockets.
haha I was digging in my PS1 game collection and I did not realize I even had this game! Its in excellent condition to lol. I think im gonna go play it xD
have this game but i personally like the first better because this has a completely different storyline than the first..I'm not even sure if it was originally supposed to be a persona game because this definitely isn't the sequel to the first
persona 1 is great but you will have to warm up to it. The story starts to pick up around 1/2 of the game and the game is heavily butchered. The story remains intact tho and is creepy and cruel. Just think back of the early 90s while playing it and you will get to enjoy it more but yeah its an ugly looking game.
I was about 1~4 in the early 90s so that won't do I'm afraid XD.
I don't mind what it looks like but I've seen videos and I played P2 for a while and the interface in P2 seemed less clunky, but P2 is still taking me a while to get used to.
Well i was 5-10 and i remember the fall of communism, the invasion of panama, the first gulf war, street fighter, vanilla ice, nirvana, and metallica sucking. Yeah those were grand years. Too bad you missed out
That's right, some enemies can't be contacted. If they say something immediately when you contact them, then just give it up. So far, for me, it's only been the zombies and bosses that won't talk to me.
Its a very difficult game, but at the same time it gets you hooked. Some demons get mad no matter what you say. I started the game about 3 years ago and Im still some place near the end.. Im stuck...
@dexter158 so far I know p2p is available :3 just check out atlus side xD they even have a special edition ... Well punishment looks to retro ... For me ... Errrrrrrrrr especially the intro ~~"

Ah, thanks for making that clear. P1 is so tempting, but it's also not very cheap taking the conversion rate into mind. Decisions decisions...

@Katt006 You can download an emulator and download the games and play for free using your PC. I don't know about PS2 but i've been playing a bunch of PS1 and game boy advance games this way with emulators. Check it out! Don't waste money on these old games as the new ones already leave a hole in our pockets.

have this game but i personally like the first better because this has a completely different storyline than the first..I'm not even sure if it was originally supposed to be a persona game because this definitely isn't the sequel to the first
Satores19 3 years ago
It's the sequel to Persona 2 Innocent Sin, which we didn't get for some reason.
The US version of the first Persona kinda... sucked.

They butchered the characters so they looked more "american" in that one didn't they?
Zeryus 3 years ago
unfortunately yes

Hmph...then that one doesn't interest me...I took a look at the wikipedia page and they're horrible...
Zeryus 3 years ago
persona 1 is great but you will have to warm up to it. The story starts to pick up around 1/2 of the game and the game is heavily butchered. The story remains intact tho and is creepy and cruel. Just think back of the early 90s while playing it and you will get to enjoy it more but yeah its an ugly looking game.
ceramiclion 3 years ago
I was about 1~4 in the early 90s so that won't do I'm afraid XD.
I don't mind what it looks like but I've seen videos and I played P2 for a while and the interface in P2 seemed less clunky, but P2 is still taking me a while to get used to.

Well i was 5-10 and i remember the fall of communism, the invasion of panama, the first gulf war, street fighter, vanilla ice, nirvana, and metallica sucking. Yeah those were grand years. Too bad you missed out
ceramiclion 3 years ago
Tch, I missed Vanilla Ice...

That's right, some enemies can't be contacted. If they say something immediately when you contact them, then just give it up. So far, for me, it's only been the zombies and bosses that won't talk to me.

try playing persona 3

I have just started to play this game.
It's cool but a little bit complex in terms of devil conversations. How can I speak to the zombie girls from the Seven Sisters High School?
they always get angry if i contact them.

Its a very difficult game, but at the same time it gets you hooked. Some demons get mad no matter what you say. I started the game about 3 years ago and Im still some place near the end.. Im stuck...
