hey can someone post a vid response with a good link to follow for this particular instruction? I would really appreciate this. I intend to do this to two guitars with bound fretboards... realizing that is very ambitious, I will need all the help I can get

@yoelgede Shure you can, learn from his mistakes, don´t do what he is doing, and about his friend´s fret work I gess they "studied" on the same place.
removing a fret with a screwdriver and a pair of pliers ?
ffs, this guy is a grade A cowboy.
if you are removing a fret, the correct procedure is to heat the fret first, (using a flat iron works fine)and then gently pry it loose with a fret removing tool, which is like a specially sharpened pair of pincers.
if you haven't got the right tools you shouldn't be messing with fret removal and replacement.
Yore totally right, but the heating is needed when there are glue helping to hold the fret, otherwise just pull it out, with the proper tool, ofcourse.
the heating also helps to soften the end grain wood fibers which hold the tang of the fret when there is no glue, the softening helps to minimize the chance of
Chop it up buddy thats it, like a salad.Use whatever tools you can find to rip it out.
BTW-It should be on the instrument before you this kind of work.
No wonder the frets were'nt level. This video is a horry film.

I can't help posting another comment on this garbage.
WTF is the point of farting around with a dislodged fretboard ????
all fretwork is (or should be) carried out with the fretboard in situ on the instrument.
these Expertvillage videos really are a joke.
Maybe they are intended as a joke ...
