I think 2014 is a reasonable date for retirement. 14 years of the same OS being supported? Impressive. It beats Apples longest, Mac OS System 7 from 1990-1998.

Windows 2000 was discontinued last June. A bit early, 2000 and XP share a very similar codebase.

A random fact: Windows 3.1 was still sold as recently as last year but with no support. For OEMs to put on cash registers or something.

So relaxing. I was one of those people which never got to listen to this, due to the driver thingy. Maybe the chance was higher, if you had a preinstalled system or a laptop, which had manufacturer-altered drivers, that it play right out-of-the-box.

This song made me feel confident, even for such a big, commercial product like Windows. Stupid Microsoft, I am usually satisfied with (K)ubuntu, but as I like to play some games, Windows 7 is the way to go. It remedied a lot of Vista's failures.
