he should be playing turn 1 Duress, turn 2 Oona's prowler... or turn 1 Dark Ritual, + 2nd Dark Ritual, then B for Entomb, (entomb Herald of LeShrac), then 1B for Exume. with no mana burn. Herald of Le Shrac hits the field turn 1 and you don't see another land for the rest of the game :p
ah. its the card that make you gain 1 life each time a black card is played.. every deck has something like that... if u dont get it at the start then its a waste. like in this duel he got it when he didn't really need it. cant remember the name.
the 1 life card, each colour has its own card for green it is Wurm's Tooth, Red Dragon's Claw, White Angel's Feather, Black Demon's Horn, and for blue its Kraken's Eye.
and to be honest they are not useless even in the late game

Getting rid of Blanchwood Armor so early is a good choice but it will be useful later on.
Swamp has a cards that get rid of your hand and cards that capitalize on the fact that you have no cards in your hand.Like the Enchantment "The Rack"

Fear means only monsters of the same color (aka black) or of legendary creature type can block or be blocked by it.

Fear means that the creature that has been played can't be block except by another black creature or an artifact creature !
