Freaking dumb ass Prolong people that never took an mechenical engineering class ever. Of course that engine is still running. Heat is the killer of an engine and that sand shit can pour in there all day as long as you keep it cool. Sodium silicate works in a similar manner. It only becomes active after that engine is hot as hell. Pouring soupy consistency cement over the engine is doing nothing but cooling the engine down so it can continue to run. I hope you get sued Prolong.

With no oil, very little cement will be washed down into the crank case... Some of those cash for clunkers engines run on for 5 or 10 minutes with no oil, AND some quantity of sodium silicate solution in the crankcase...

yeah ok, this is a perfe3ct example of how advertising hides the truth. if you got no oil, that sand will go no where except straight to the bottom of the oil pan. therefore the only thing that is happening is this "prolong" is temporarily preventing the engine from seizing since there is no oil. you put oil AND sand, this be a whole different out come, nice melted block or blown pistong or loss of compression, this test does nothing

the test is more about being spectacular than anything else, the cement is not in the cylinders or the bottom end of the engine, in fact with out coolant the cement may actually have dropped the temperature.

I'd also like to point out the fact they are using an old Chrysler small block. rock solid cast Iron everything. Enough journal clearance to allow lots of stray oil to remain after being drained and to also allow lots of room for heat expansion. drain the oil out of an aluminum block aluminum rodded modern engine. or the raggedy Quad four GM engine. leave this "Prolong" in the sump and then add sand and dirt and place it under a load. if it still runs I'll even drink the stuff for good measure
The biggest crock of shit I have seen in a long time, an egine ideling doesn't put much strain on the bearings, put it full throttl under load and it wouldn't last 30 seconds, and it says more for the engine design than it does for oil to keep running without oil.
totally agreed...putting dirt on the valves wont do shit, ethier, the vavles around under much strain compared to the crankshaft, also they move much slower compared to the crank. an engine can run for a while with no valve lubrication. no id like to see them pull the rod caps, put sand into the bearing itself and put the caps back on and see how long it runs. also, if they keep the oil in it, then put the sand into the crank, so the oil would carry the sand to bearings.

yeah ok, this is a perfe3ct example of how advertising hides the truth. if you got no oil, that sand will go no where except straight to the bottom of the oil pan. therefore the only thing that is happening is this "prolong" is temporarily preventing the engine from seizing since there is no oil. you put oil AND sand, this be a whole different out come, nice melted block or blown pistong or loss of compression, this test does nothing

this is a fucking stupid test i agree when i was at school for heavy duty mechanic we took a 305 chev engine dumped the oil out of at and ran it at full throttle for 8 minutes befor it blew and with only the valve covers off nothing will happen it be a different story if it got into the combustion chamber

thats such bullshit, and it was only running at 1500 fuckin rpm. we had an engine redline at 7 grand with no oil or coolant in it and it lasted 10 minutes... like cement would really have an effect on the cams in that short period of time. what a fuckin gimmic

the test is more about being spectacular than anything else, the cement is not in the cylinders or the bottom end of the engine, in fact with out coolant the cement may actually have dropped the temperature.

As a mechanic I have to say that is absolute rubbish the engine may run a couple of sec with no oil and water the sand in reality should have killed it , if not the cement blocked up the air intake that should have stalled the engine

I'd also like to point out the fact they are using an old Chrysler small block. rock solid cast Iron everything. Enough journal clearance to allow lots of stray oil to remain after being drained and to also allow lots of room for heat expansion. drain the oil out of an aluminum block aluminum rodded modern engine. or the raggedy Quad four GM engine. leave this "Prolong" in the sump and then add sand and dirt and place it under a load. if it still runs I'll even drink the stuff for good measure

The biggest crock of shit I have seen in a long time, an egine ideling doesn't put much strain on the bearings, put it full throttl under load and it wouldn't last 30 seconds, and it says more for the engine design than it does for oil to keep running without oil.

totally agreed...putting dirt on the valves wont do shit, ethier, the vavles around under much strain compared to the crankshaft, also they move much slower compared to the crank. an engine can run for a while with no valve lubrication. no id like to see them pull the rod caps, put sand into the bearing itself and put the caps back on and see how long it runs. also, if they keep the oil in it, then put the sand into the crank, so the oil would carry the sand to bearings.
