Fantastic masterpiece. Our modern so-called "heroes" look like crap compared with young Clint Eastwood. Very nice classic. Gian Maria Volonté was no less impressive. Too bad they do not make films like this one anymore. If I have no mistake "A Fistfull of Dollars" was the first Spaghetti Western and became real classic

Primal Sky Caballero Del Mar ****
Imagine Charles Lloyd in a psychedelic surfband with a post-spaghetti Ennio Morreconi, and you might get a hint of what Primal Sky is about - a hint because this is much more haunting and adventurous than that. It's not surf per say, but there are lots of very nice guitar lines suggesting surf, and the artistry here is just too good to pass up.
I've just seen that MorriconeRocks is from U.S.A., so I'll translate my post in English for him and everybody who don't speak Italian :-P
"I've got the original mono 45 rpm vinyl, and the music is slightly different: male voices say "WHICK E WHICK" instead of "WHICK E WHACK", and the electric guitar solo is totally different.
Does anyone knows why there are these two versions of the song?"
Ricordo il mio professore di seconda superiore che la fischiava nei corridoi e dopo poche ore tutti nella scuola la fischiettavano... è magica questa canzone :D
Eastwood's character is so clearly supernatural in the Dollars Trilogy, especially For a Few Dollars More, but even though A Fistful of Dollars is based on an old story(s), it is the best of the "Evil pitted against Evil with Good in the Middle" theme. The music has that eerie, supra-natural feel to it and Eastwood's speed with that Colt 1851 Navy, especially at the end, is not-of-this-world; he is The Hand of Fate. Fantastic movie, fabulous music.
Yes, I saw FAFDM last night and Eastwood's revolver wqas not the same one that he used in TGTBATU, it did have the silver rattle snake on its grips though. Great catch on that one djrbfm.
Anyone know where I can find that child-like music theme that they play in one of the movies, before they duel? One of those musical boxes, with the tiny spinning balerina on it?
In the preliminary version of "Titoli", the chorus says "with the wind" which is exactly same as the back chorus used for Peter Tevis version of "Pastures of Plenty".
Leone's biographer asked one of the singers, and even he couldn't remember. He said "we can fight" (Which is what I always hear) was one possibility. Others were "we defy" or "with the wind."
THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH MORRICONEROCKS. YOU ARE DOING A MAGNIFICENT WORK. I just keep on listening everything you posted about the Maestro Morricone. Thank you.
Brings me back when I turn on to TCM or TNT and watch Clint Eastwood or any other Western when I was a kid. Those were the days and they don't make them like they use to.
I hear it saying "win da fight!"

The Japanese title, "Koya no Yojimbo" means "Yojimbo (bodyguard) of Wilderness". Since the story is based "Yojimbo", it's an appropriate title.

How about Pale rider? While High plains drifter has a supernatural feel to it, in Pale Rider The Preacher is clearly a ghost.
