Hi Sean - yes, he was an odd guy, definitely! Some of these ace chess players are a little loopy, to say the least. Especially in later life he went a bit strange - and he always had a dificult personality - but when you read his biography he was actually a sensitive soul who had feelings like everyone else. His bad points have been latched on to by many people, but it's important to remember his positive side too - he had a good sense of humour and he was always open and honest too.
@SeanGGodley - Very well said Sean. With the U.S. government destroying Bobby Fischer's life and trying to *imprison him for 10 years* for playing chess, I feel that was just inexcusable. When we put ourselves into Bobby's shoes and the persecution he suffered later in his life, I think the things he said and his general behavior are more than understandable. Indeed, I think a lesser man who didn't have the great character that Bobby had would have probably gone insane and committed suicide.
@SMCB285 - People are products of their environment, as was Bobby Fischer. He and his mother were followed everywhere they went by the F.B.I. for many years. Can you imagine what effect that might have on you, especially if you were a young child? Can you imagine the things you might say and do about a government, (and the country it represents), if they tried to imprison you for 10 years for the heinous crime of playing chess and to live in exile for the rest of your life? Very understandable
It seemed like Fischer just fell into delivering that checkmate on accident at the end. I can easily see why Petrosian didn't consider it because who'd think about being mated in moste cases, in the middle of the board with only a rook, bishop, king and pawn?
i play the caro kann, im always afraid of that possition with a big hole on d6 but its still never been a problem for me, i thought it might with a strong player but if it works against fisher then i guess its just an academic weakness
Please please Sean. Increase the volume! It's extremely difficult to hear what you say. I've been watching your videos for a long time and I alway have to turn my speakers to the max to even have chance to hear what you say. Compared to most other youtube videos the volume in your videos is very low.
So please please adjust the volume when you record your voice.
@Nick08352 - A human being vs a computer though would only show computer moves, (for the computer anyway), and learning to play like that can really stagnate one's game. :(
@JohnQuincyAdams1 hi do you prefere nikon or cannon ? can i see your photography portfolio as well as your pastels . thankyou !!! respect for your work , you are a great artist thankyou, ! just a thought put some on your channel too > ? !!
@SeanGGodley are you real busy or just teasing us. I was wondering ,are you a teacher if chess? I need more videos. will you do some of your personal games as well? Btw what is your fide rating?
Hi Sean I was looking forward to a new chessvideo especially one about Bobby Fischer, and here it is, thanks alot these videos you make are excellent and fun to watch.
@MoPar7055 - It may be that the satisfaction you refer to is in learning to play better. :) No one has ever achieved what Bobby Fischer did and probably no one ever will. Many of his games are absolute masterpieces and much can be learned when we analyze them. Thankfully, we have a very gifted person here in Sean on his Killegar Chess channel to help all of us do this. It would be appropriate for all of us to support Sean's great work and spread the word about Killegar Chess. :)
@guitarfella581 - Search YouTube using Keywords -> Bobby Fischer Beats the Russians. No chess player before or since has been able to achieve what Bobby Fischer did.
nice!

What were Fischer's comments afterwards regarding Petrosians blunder.
MrJuanlennon 2 months ago
oh man, I wanted to Petrosian to win, or at least make a draw, but I guess this isn't Petrosian's 60 favorite games.

@SeanGGodley A Tigran Petrosian blunder. As rare as they come.
Why don't you concentrate on a series which deals with such blunders after this? Food for thought.
