Notice how is head is turning while the gun is still stationed where it is.

Basically, the head can move without the gun being pointed where the head is. Basically that is, theres more into it but I'll leave other to explain it better.

it is a head-tracking device using 3 IR lights mounted onto a headset or a baseball cap.

It monitors the movement of your head in real life, to simulate that in the game. Hence why his head is moving in the video.

You can also customize it so your not looking away from the screen at any time, yet you in-game head will be looking say 180 degrees. Its awesome.

3850x2 is a bit outdated, there are better cards in its pricerange. And this game looks rly simple, no advanced shadows or reflections. If it wouldnt work well its cuz the game is badly optimized, not cuz of your card.

Can you raise your head when laying down so you can see over the grass or other small objects with trackir? Always annoys me when I have to get from prone to knee just because the grass is 2cm too tall :P

i run arma with very high textures, very high anisotropic filtering, high AA, high shadows, and rest normal. with 1.11 patch i play around 2-3000 view distance and all with no lag/stutters at all. system: AMD X2 3800+ (2ghz), 8800GTS 320MB, 2GB RAM. Remember arma uses VSYNC ON by default. so set your TRIPLE BUFFERING to ON in Nvidia/ATI control panel!

How useful is the TrackIR? It's just it seems that if I still have to keep my eyes on the screen, it wouldn't make much difference. Now- if I had this tracking ability AND those systems that project the screen onto a set of goggles, that would be most awesome.

Very useful. Obviously the tracking is not directly proportional, since you'd have to turn around to turn around and well, that's not very useful. Think of mouse sensitivity (DPI). Same thing. I can look 10 degrees right and left and that equates to 180 right and left in the game.

Depends on the game. In ArmA it lets you freelook, and lean left, right, forward and back. The only thing it doesn't do in ArmA that some other using TrackIR support is raise/lower your viewpoint along the y-axis of movement (think standing on toes vs. head lowered, both when standing upright). Codemasters in a publisher simply using the name. Bohemia Interactive is the brains behind the OFP franchise, and the developers of Armed Assault :) Check it out. It's as good as it gets on current and next years hardware.

Flashpoint 2 and Armed Assault are actually 2 complete different games.

Armed Assault and Operation Flashpoint was developed by Bohemia Interactive. Codemasters are the developers for OFP2.

Codemasters published OFP, and have the rights to keep the name etc for it. Codemasters do not have anything to do with Armed Assault, the publishers for Armed Assault include Morphicon and 505 Games.
