It's all about the movement of the water. Borders like anything that moves due to there herding instinct. My Border sits in the bathtub waiting for me to turn on the water. Crazy girl.

Thats hilarious! My border collie hates the water, it's a chore just getting him in the tub for a bath. He'll get in cause he's trained well and all but he doesn't chase water around like that :p He will however ran back and forth across the yard. Not so much anymore though, he's getting a lil old and has arthritis :(

I'm sure the owners of this BC love thier dog, but this is not good exercise for a Border. This is actually somewhat neurotic and this dog needs more intelligent stimulation. It's good to see thay have a large yard, but this dog would benefit from multiple exercises such as frisbee, ball chasing and of coursr loooong walks.

eh they just take so much time and energy. my mother bought one a few years ago and i trained him and he was a perfect dog but as he's gotten older his herding instincts have gotten stronger or something and that's becoming a problem. and he's gotten very nervous so everytime the dogs are playing or whatever, he'll go in there and start a fight while trying to stop them. he needs complete peace or he becomes neurotic.

I live in the south in America so there are a lot of farms out here and so a lot of border collie breeders. I used to live in Turkey and my mom always wanted a border collie and they said we had to get it from America so we got one after we moved here.

I saw that you live in Portugal..I don't know how Portugal is but I know that a lot of houses in Europe are smaller and don't have a big yard..a border collie needs A LOT of exercise. He needs a lot of space, they are supposed to be farm dogs after all. So if you don't have a lot of space for him to run around, and a lot of time to spend with him, I would not recommend this breed. A bored border collie will become destructive.

i have a BC; she does this too. What i'll do is spray a jet of water at a tree 20 feet away; she is distracted by the noise of the water hitting the tree, and she keeps trying to grab it. Once she's distracted, i'll spray her in the rump and she'll madly come tearing back at me, chomping the stream of water as she runs. If i don't quickly aim at the tree again to distract her, i get a wet dog jumping all over me! (Gotta watch they don't bite the nozzle, though!)
