Pillman might have taken the name "yellow dog" from a popular insult in the old NWA days. I remember Terry Funk and Dusty Rhodes using the term quite a bit, referring to mongrel lineage.

he was reinstated about a month after this. Mostly because they were looking to start up the Light Heavyweight division and since the Yellow Dog angle was tied in with Barry Windham, they had to drop it so Pillman could be in the Light Heavyweight title tournament since he was planned to be a long-term champion. Once it was over and done with, the Yellow Dog was never spoke of again. ;D
