It must be stressed again, that this video is not about what tookie has been accused of doing. To the very end, before he stopped breathing he could have admitted that he killed those people, if he did it. He admitted to other crimes that he committed, why not that one? He had nothing to gain by lying about not doing it. Read the apology at the end. Actually, he was involved with the deaths of several inmates while incarcerated. I worked on the save tookie campaign, I didnt need to go by what Snoop Dog or Jesse Jackson said. Again this is about the "lives" he saved outside of the "prison". The books he wrote and the messages that he brought. The truce that he was very instrumental in starting between the gangs helped alot of people. I do not think that it was correct to give Charles Mnson the death penalty or a life sentence in prison for not killing anyone. If Charles Manson was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, had started writing books that encouraged people (especially young people) not to commit crimes, I would make a video about him as well. Anyway, I'm not sure that anywhere in the video was "balance" mentioned.
But I would think that his pleas for clemency based on his "Good Works" showed that, if nothing else, he and his lawyers felt that they were a mitigating circumstance.

This video was created AFTER he died. This video is not about him asking for clemency. He did not ask for clemency because of the gang violence that he stopped, nor the books that he wrote. He asked for clemency to get more time to prove that he was innocent of the crime that got him the death penalty. Whether, he was innocent or guilty, is no longer relevent. Because he is dead. This video offers his message to those who are still in the streets. That is all.

Being co-founder of the CRIPS, I suspect that he was involved in killing somebody. He has always said that he was a monster, until he found redemption(checkout the movie). He wanted to be freed from greater confinement(prison). He simply wanted to exist long enough to correct the incorrect behaviors that he helped to promote when he was that monster.

The movie is based on his book. Maybe you could read that. I dont know. Clemancy means to not be executed. It does not mean to be freed. I believe that he had numerous charges against him, but, it was the "7-11" robbery that got him the death penalty. I could be incorrect. I worked with the "Save Tookie" campaign. I have never heard him or anyone else mention that he wanted to be freed.

It appeared that the informant that was a "witness" to the crime, was the one who actually committed the crime and many other robberies, that the DA exonerated him from. Again, Tookie thought he deserved to be where he was, because of other crimes, but did not want to die, so that he could continue his work of promoting an end to gang violence.
