you always take existing exercises and rename them into something stupid. also, you don't jump up but stand up, making it not an effective cardiovascular workout. idiot.
@wubs23 I know I'm late with the reply but if the eight count is done properly u might ruin your knees jumping up. Like he said in the video it works both your upper and lower half of your body.
I was a deep sea diver in the Army and we had to do hundreds and I mean HUNDREDS... Once you get used to doing them, it is mind over matter. HOOYAH! They were definitely not banned when I was in dive school nor when I got to my unit. ;)
DON'T DO THESE! Banned by the Navy and the Marines. The leg spreader is hell on your knees. Previously used as an endurance exercise - try doing 20-25, or more, straight, you'll know what I mean. Back in the old days, I did these regularly. Then My knees started to hurt. I thought it was the running. My knees are better now, thanks to flat-footed squats. But I still have knee damage. If I hear of you doing any number of these, I will...just take my advice. Don't damage your body.
Unless it was something recent like in the last 2 years you're full of crap. The 8 counts are still used in the military and yes running affects your knees so much more then the 8counts.
One another note this guy is only doing 6 count body builds and needs to get his facts correct. The true 8 count has jumping jacks included in it.
I have an active duty Navy friend who reports that on his base, the eight-counts have been banned. He said that if anyone is seen doing the eight-counts, they are told to stop. So, truthfully, I'm going by his information. Also, there is an online book, written by a doctor for the SEALs that has warned against the eight-counts. I don't recall the name of the book off hand.
LOL. i did this in elementary school >.> how is this banned in the army if its nto banned in elementary school? except its not called eight counts ...its called Frog Jumps....Doesnt hurt anything at All...Dont listen to this guy....
Hello, my name is... *thinks for a second* ... Adam Adbula! And today I'm going to be jumping around like a retarded monkey on crack. These exercises are good for absolutely NOTHING!
You need to do the true 8 counts. This guy is only doing 6 counts and in very bad form. The true 8 count is a combination of cardio and strength trainer. It includes jumping jacks and when done correct at a reasonable pass it is a great workout on the body. It they are doing nothing for you either 1 your in the best shape you can get*cough BS* or you're not doing them right.
Law of individual differences, SAID, specificity, and possibly overload, are all violated, especially since the muscles are not placed under enough tension or time to undergo an adaptive response. It may be a good aerobic workout, but otherwise, its crap.
isnt there a jumping jack in there ? i'm only counting 6 count builders. unless you count going down but we in the military do a jumping jack at the end and then back to the start.
why would the military use this for ne kind of conditioning? sprints r way better

@wubs23 No, this is called eight count...it's a exercise program practiced in the Navy...I did it in bootcamp
MzTeeL 1 year ago
@MzTeeL okay. my question remains: is there any reason not to jump up in the end, as with burpees, since this makes the exercise harder?
