I love making and collecting ACEO's and in a bid to make them more popular I have just created a Facebook page 'ACEO Art Cards', for artists to exhibit their work and collectors to share recommendations etc. Please take a look and join in, and lets make these wonderful little pieces of art more popular!
@LordAntonis over on eBay, where they were created 5 years ago, there are several groups containing thousands of artists who sell their art cards there. If you do a search for ACEO on eBay, you will get thousands of auctions to come up and in one of those artists' stores you will find the names of some of the groups.
Whoohoo! Thanks for this, Deb. I'm gonna use it anytime someone asks me what it is, and on my blog and web site. I feel lazy to explain every time someone asks, hehe.
It really IS a lot easier to show someone a video rather than writing it all out again and again! I'm so glad to be able to make videos! It makes teaching and stuff soooo much easier!
Thanks for sharing this. I had an idea about this but I like the way you explained it.I started some a two years ago but never really got into it again, now after I have seen your video, ...hmmm who knows:)
I just looked over your channel page...nice vids! If you think you might want to teach any online classes, come see what we are doing in Ning. There are about 300 artists in the group I created and 17 of them are going to be delivering online classes this year.
There is a link to the group on my channel page. Check it out and let me know if you are interested in being an instructor! :D
Well, feel free to elaborate, kiddo! I don't know if you are referring to the history of the cards from back in Europe or if you are referring to the history of the ACEOs on eBay.
I haven't gotten the 3rd segment of my ACEO videos completed yet. No worries....you are there! No wait a sec, you are in the 2nd ACEO video. I'm pretty sure I got one of your oils in there!
WOW! YOu're REALLY talented! That little girl that you first show is beautiful and I LOVE THE COLORS & TEXTURE on the card around 1:36-1:40 or so. That peacock looking bird is really cute, too!
J, how I wish I could take credit for that incredible oil painting of that little girl and the other peacock ACEO. However, those are paintings in my collection.
My original artwork actually appears as the stills in between the live shots of this video. :D They have a more Gothic look to them.
Hi Deb, thanks for contacting me and sharing your excellent video. I look forward to hearing more from you in future.
I am one half of wyllieohagan. Have you seen our channel?
Your video is clear and informative. You have a varied and interesting collection of artworks. Can I ask do you buy your work from ebay or elsewhere and what kind of price range do you generally buy work at?
Denise, the most that I have paid for any one piece in my art collection is $100. Naturally, I try to get them for less, which is possible on eBay because of the auction style format. Of course, I have also missed out on some that I wanted very badly.
But I'm currently doing more selling than buying. Finances being what they are....:D
I like these smaller sized pieces of art work. In fact, if I were to get into some art work, the ACEOs would appeal to me more than working on larger pieces. Thanks for the video, it was very interesting. Have a great weekend Deb!!
What a wonderful video, We sure could use this advertisement Deb. Thanks for doing this, my ebay is sooooooooooooo slow, and I just started back again!
Hi sugar lamb! I saw some of your posts and artwork on eBay last night when I was in the groups posting my new mermaid ACEO to show off. :D
I got an email from a gal that wants to put this video over on Facebook, so I told her to go for it. The more people that see these little beauties in the outside world, the better!
eBay has been slow all summer, which is not unusual. I think that's why they gave us a 25 cent listing fee special......
As an ACEO artist I want to take a moment to THANK YOU for the great YouTube video! Great job! You have sparked new interests! Wishing you the best on your sales! Love, your fellow Ebay Aceo artist....art2xpress
Thank so much, Gayle! I had many ACEO video collaborations on my Channel last year which featured lots of eBay artists, but I had to move them elsewhere because of potential copyright hassles. They were only slide shows, but I had some very cool ones...my favorites were from the Mermaids and Sea Gods group on eBay. They had some real stunners!
I actually am going to try doing this. I had been planning for a while to do it but first I have to finish the projects I'm working on first then move on to them. I hope I can show you a few or just one when I finish some. Very informative video.
Julia....this makes me feel very good that you are excited about doing some ACEOs. YAY! I'll tell you what...when you are making some and after they are finished, make a video of it and post it here as a video response. That way more people might see it? I look forward to seeing your work, for sure!!!!!
Thank you. Since this is my first time trying to make some I might be a little uncertain about aceo requirements. I've done some research and so far it seems there aren't many rules, just the size. Well, when I get some done I'll try to make a video.
Precisely. The size is THE qualifier on the ACEOs. They have been made from wood, glass, plastic, fabric, polymer clay, and practically any materials you can think of. Enjoy!
No need to feel awful! ACEOs haven't really caught on yet outside of eBay. I know some artists are selling them at art shows and some are being shown in art galleries, but it's not all the rage YET. There is an ACEO magazine now.
Thanks, Rick! Did you catch The Who special on MTV or was it VH1 this past weekend? I violated the Viacom boycott for that one....whoa! It was superb!
Gina, I know you have some art videos on your Channel but I can't see the pink on pink links there to go have a look at them. I don't see the video box on the page, either, but I also wear bifocals....so I may have missed it.
The ACEO in the video of the lady and the bright colors is a brilliant painting. I wish I had done that one! It cost me a small fortune to own one of her ACEOs....
Happy second year! Those cards look very cool, all that detail and different color must take a lot of time and skill. Have you ever made any of your own?
J...I thought about that after I had posted the video---I should have shown the back of one. Some people put their contact info, sign & date them, name of the ACEO. Some add more artwork on the back. It varies from artist to artist.
Michael, few people outside of eBay have heard of ACEOs yet. It's a new 'movement' that has grown pretty rapidly in the past 4 years. Artists are now showing their ACEOs in galleries and at art shows and selling them. It's cool!
