Great tutorial, I actually googled for "tophattwaffles animated texture" in order to find this when I neede it :p!

Just one thing i thought about - you're calling Decals for "detail textures", and the decal tool for "detail brush". This may really, really, confuse people, since a detail texture is something completely different :P

I'm not sure if you know about trigger_look, but when you look at something. Something else happens. So can I make a texture animate itself when you look at it then go back to normal?

Do you mean, say you put HI it looks like IH? Like it's mirrored?

Try making usng the texture application tool, then choose "face" instead of "world" or vise versa. One or the other should fix the problem.

So say I have a skin of the tf2 bottle, how can I make the glass of that bottle, a bit transparent/ translucent ?

@Darkfield2 Make the alpha layer gray, or in Photoshop make the image transparent.

it's also possible to set alpha in the VMT file using $alpha (look it up on the valve developer community)

nice tut but u got some problems.

i made a normal texture but for some reason i wont work.

i made 5 textures and 2 of them are broken

when i put it in the VTFedit Eight bit alpha is on.

on the textures that work its not on.

You can make a refract(what you saw was a refract) or just set a transparency to like 50% in Photoshop on a custom texture.

why did you do it the harder way? just use 360e for the easy crap (if your being to lazy) and manually put in the option that one doesn't give you. same with vtf edit
