i think new explorer looks very nice, good lines, nice roof bars and good placed windows... If i wanted a medium priced SUV i would certainly consider Explorer as one of the top, but on the video sound isolation looks, sounds and feels rubbish, there is considerable road noise in interior, and the upholstery doesn't look as Volkswagen like as reviewer tells us...

Still hope Ford is going to make RS or SHO version of this SUV, with EcoBoost V6 365+ hp engine.

WOW! They took the Ford Explorer an made it look worse! The old explorer looked good but not any more. OOOOOOO Soft touch plastic it's so luxurious, not. If they wanted to compete with europe they should have lost the plastic all together and put wood, aluminum or leather on the interior and not plastic. And an air bag inside of a seat belt? WTF how dose that work and how does that make you any safer in the back seat? It looks like it is designed to break your child's jaw in a car crash.

I wasn't counting buttons because there really isn't many other practical ways to make buttons in cars. But to have an entire interior made of plastic, it is like being in an out house. Even natural fibers or fibers in general would be nicer than soft touch plastic interior. Besides I think you are missing my main point, that the new Explorer is uglier than the old one.

Talk to us about reliability. Ford Explorer has been the most horrible POS when it comes to reliability. Just Google Ford Explorer and you will find that its the number 1 car in terms of mechanical and engine issues.

nice body and interior ford did good there but I think it should have been on a more durable rugged truck frame.

on the other hand all the previous exploerers were junk imo except maybe the very early boxy ones which just had a crappy dash and door panels

Just a suggestion- I'd like to hear less about how "nice" everything is, and more DETAILS, like USE of the NAV system, and how the 4 wheel drive works, engine types, specs, etc, I don't want to feel like your trying to SELL me the car, but like your trying to EXPOSE it for everything it has, like JF, only MORE detail. Interesting facts and whatnot. Motortrend used to do a good job of this with thier cone course and 0-60 times, horsepower, mention of other models etc. Just tryin to help out

Another thing, your bias show (Top Gear) rips on 99% of American cars like the Mustang. Made fun of the live rear suspension for being prehistoric. However, when looking at facts, the suspension lowers the cars' cost, lowers wheel hop in drag racing, and even w/o IRS it matches the handling of an M3.(Check out Motortrend)
