At the end of the day, you cannot fairly compare BFBC2, COD, and ARMA. Because of a simple reason: Gameplay.

COD and BFBC2 were made as FPS Shooters, MP orientated. It's fast paced fun all round, with alot of modes to offer.

Arma on the other hand, Arma was made with the idea in mind of a Tactical, Strategic shooter, FPS or TPS, players choice. The gameplay is very different than the other 2. It still has different MP modes and such but, the games are in a whole different league of eachother.

Honestly, ArmA has never been known for the stunning sound. Why do you think so many people have made mods and add-ons to try to improve the sound effects? Bad Company 2 had some of the best weapon sounds that I've heard in any game, including simulators like ArmA.

Seriously, comparing BF and ARMA, the first one is an Arcade-Game where you respawn and capture flags, the latter one is a simulation (even sold to real world military in a slightly different version). COD (every part) is on the other hand just a shooter. Not realistic (hell no!) and more like a good action-war-thriller-movie. These three games have absolutely nothing in common except the setting: modern warfare.
