  • Thank you for this great review.

  • at 1:41 i already think you are awesome CollectionDX - oh and your voice reminds me of Phillip Seymore Hoffman peace

  • i believe it's the magnet that holds the sections together that drains the batteries

and the saucer section wouldn't have a decflector dish because it can't go to warp

  • AA did paint them compair to the playmates/

  • do you know anything about the art asylem org. enterprise and the enterprise in HD with more detail or did they only make 1 enterprise from AA.

you know alot about star trek props.

have you seen my 5 part collection and my last one is in HD 2011

  • I am shocked to see this selling for $250 to $400 on e-bay. do you know why this 1 modle went up more then others enterprise d

  • Why did you mention "high-functioning autism"? I'm just wondering

  • @OOO19415

High-functioning autism is one part of what is coming to be known as the Autisic Spectrum of disorders (aka "ASD")- a specified range of medial conditions linked through common symptoms of mental retardation, learning impairment, and sometimes physical ailment. The one that I have- Asperger's Syndrome, specifically- is on the higher end of the spectrum. Meaning I can still communicate well even if my brain is still impaired.

PM me and I can be a little more specific.

  • @EVAUnit4A I know that, what I meant is that why did you mention it? Do you have it or something? I'm just wondering, because I have high-functioning autism

  • @OOO19415

    =|

    ....

    ...

    Yes, I have Asperger's.

  • @EVAUnit4A well thats nothing to be ashamed of I have it too.

  • @tikkatibs

I'm not ashamed at all. It's a pain in the ass at times, but I'm not ashamed of it.

  • @EVAUnit4A I can agree with that

  • by the way: they DID relese smaller versions of the enterprise d in both original and future, exept this time it was johnny lightning who made thouse-Mario.

  • uh word: we never saw the engenaring section blow up until 1994 when they made star trek generations plus that was only thing you didint get right in this review lol-Mario.

  • @MarioBrosReborn

Mmm... no, I'm pretty sure I mentioned that in the video already.

  • @EVAUnit4A you said 1987 in the video when we saw heard it no one really noticed but me except that the engeniring and salser sections seperation first in the pilot episode of star trek TNG so thats a wirrd rip off just saying-Mario.

  • @MarioBrosReborn

No, you just said that the Engineering Section wasn't seen exploding until "...Generations".

And if you were trying to say anything else, then I couldn't follow it because your punctuation and grammar are terrible.

  • @EVAUnit4A in the review you said that they tried to do that for TOS but didint have the money so they oviously scraped the idea but later on used the seperation sene for the pilot episode of TNG witch was originaly for TMP(the motion picture.) but scraped as well so once the people who were working on star trek TNG found that scetch and so the truth is reviealed, and yes guring divelepmont of generations the found the whole blow up scene, but im just making this up im not positve-Mario.

  • @MarioBrosReborn

I read several articles penned by Probert himself while I was researching for this review., as well as many articles regarding the design of the Ent-D and the series as a whole. I'm pretty sure I know what *I'm* talking about. Do you?

  • of course i do @EVAUnit4A but i not positive but thats what i belive so uh..........yeah but the only thing i know is that theres only one ship thats bigger than voyger and thats the enterprise-D-Mario.

  • Well... that's half an hour of my life I'll never get back...

  • @noendandnobeginning

So what happened to the other 17?

  • ILM only ever did the effects for Encounter At Farpoint. For every other show the effects were done in house. ILM receive a credit on every episode because, whoever negotiated the contract for ILM top do the effects work on the first episode was clever enough to have their name on the credits. It never did the show any harm having the ILM connection though.

  • 47;44 MINUTES WTF?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @bovb902

    ikr? Crazy.

  • Thanks enjoyed it

  • I have the playmate enterprise d

  • Deck 10, Forward.

  • the impulse engines on the saucer only turn on when A: turning or B: the saucer is seperated. llap

  • @GeeMeisterOfCee

    You are correct, sir.

  • This is such an awesome review. Nice job!

  • @Volkolak

    Thank you. ^_^

  • I've had mine for a few years now and the display stand on mine is already cracking so I can't display it with the saucer attached since it will be front heavy.. That's probably the reason why its cracking since it has always been on display untouched with the saucer. I guess it could not support the weight. Then only a few days ago, I noticed the crack at the top part where it attaches into the ship. Very disappointed with the quality of the display stand.

  • @imranbecks

Mine is sitting quite comfortably on the shelf right now, no problems with the stand. Yeah, the stand is crap quality, but it's good enough... until it breaks.

I hear you can write DST and get a replacement stand for free. Don't quote me on that.

  • @EVAUnit4A Mine has always been left untouched on my shelve. It slowly begun to crack. I decided to look at the model when I saw the model tilted unusually forward, thats when I checked it and saw the crack. The crack became worse when I attached the model back, so now i can't display it with the saucer attached. I hope i can get a replacement stand. The same has happened for my classic TOS 1701. They shd have used the ball jointed stand like they did for the Ent-E & 1701 Wrath of Khan.

  • we should ask the owner of the enterprise-d if it is true about the aztec pattern

  • @si2foo

What? It IS true! There are many sites out there with pictures of the 4-, 6-, and 8-foot filming models, and all of them have it. Ex Astris Scientia is a good place to start.

  • @EVAUnit4A lol i ment it as a joke seeing as someone bought the real 8 foot one was sold for 500,000

  • @si2foo

They shoulda put them all into a traveling museum exhibit. Now they'll be lost into some random private collector's gallery never to be seen or heard of again until decades from now when they get sold off as junk by their great-grandkids...

  • @EVAUnit4A yh there are someone people whoe bought stuff the reliant got bought

  • FINALLY ANOTHER PERSON INTO BOTH STAR TREK AND STAR WARS

  • @makutateridax200

We're out there, just few and far between. I do lean towards ST more though.

  • LOL Boo-zard collectors. It's buh-zerd collectors, as in birds......

  • @phongbong

Umm, no it's not. A "buzzard" is a bird, Robert Bussard invented the Bussard ramscoop theory.

Before you correct someone else, make sure your own facts are correct, you idiot.

  • @CollectionDx It looks like a cruise liner

  • @Franco16971

A lot of people liken the Galaxy-class starships to just that.

  • you have HFA? kinda cool im a aspie myself. Always people think im weird oh well cool video, epic monster toy.

  • @DoctorEviloply

    Thanks. And it's not a toy. ;)

  • @EVAUnit4A model? statue? still awesome

  • @DoctorEviloply

    Replica.

  • This product has actualy been decomisioned now you can only get the all good things f*#k all the had to do was make a new rage with the windows on the neck thet take the p*ss coz i want one sooooo bad but i cant get on any were -:( Love the review man it was long and cool good job :)

  • @JackRyd3r

    Thank you. ^^

I'm still waiting for that Klingon PoB and the Excelsior they've been talking about for almost a year now.

  • @EVA_Unit_4A who is your favorite captain?

  • @raptorranger95

Haha- sorry, I don't play that game. ;P

  • @EVAUnit4A wat game?

  • @raptorranger95

'Who's my favorite Star Trek captain'. I don't answer that because I find each captain brings something different to the table.

  • It's a shame they couldn't get the portholes lit up, but wow, that is a beautiful model! Also unfortunate they didn't use the light technique on the dome for the saucer section to light up the name and BuNo

  • EVAUnit4A,

How Do you know so Much her?? I was thing i was the biggest star trek fan, She's a great ship! I'm just sorry, she had to be Destroyed!!! That mad me sad:(

    Nikki

  • @Shuttlelover101

Well, I had the TNG Technical Manual when I was young. And I simply collected and stored info on her over the years. I'm not deep into ST canon as far as characters and story arcs, but ships I can totally relate to!

"...Generations" in general made me sad. >.>

  • @EVAUnit4A

That's Cool! i got the TNG Technical Manual, a few mouth back!! But there only 6-Galaxy-class Ships, Its Galaxy, Challerger, Enderprise, Obyssey, Venture, Yamato! Those were the only one, i know! but i thing there more!! I'll Talk to u later ok!!!

    Nikki

  • @Shuttlelover101

In the TM, it also says that six galaxy-class were built and assembled (the ones you listed), but six more were built but NOT assembled, and their parts were scattered across the Federation to protect them. This way if the class proved successful, or an emergency arose, it would take little time to assemble the other six.

  • @Shuttlelover101

Three of the first wave of ships- Yamato, Galaxy, and Ent-D- were destroyed for various reasons within 8 years of the class's debut, and then the Dominion War began. So during DS9, that is why we see so many Galaxy ships during the War.

  • CollectionDX,

This Is My Favorite Show!!!!! She was my Favorite, Were can I find One???

    Nikki

  • @Shuttlelover101

They don't make these anymore. I found mine by chance in a local comic shop!

  • @EVAUnit4A

She's Great, I'm just sad the Destroyed her in the First Next Generation movie!!!

    Nikki

  • I think you have the location of Ten Forward wrong. At the end of the episode "Starship Mine" when Picard is trying to avoid the Baryon Sweep he ends in Ten Forward which is at the veeeeery front of the ship.

  • @pinoi78

Now WHAT EXACTLY did I say in the video???

  • I finally picked one up but the stand's attachment point was broken.

Does anyone know where I can find a replacement? I contacted DST last month but they still haven't returned my e-mail.

  • Oh, and by the way, about the Constitution-class Saucer Separating, recently, there was a story in the 2nd or 3rd issue of the TOS manga by Tokyopop where the pre-refit Enterprise actually engages her saucer separation, blowing a series of explosive bolts. It was mentioned that this procedure can't be undone and that the two sections had to be reconnected through a major overhaul at a Drydock. We see the Conqueror (an alternate-universe Enterprise) do it in the fan film "Of Gods and Men" too.

  • @heavyarms01h

That is all true, about it being irreversible; being able to reintegrate the two hulls back together on-the-fly debuted with TNG.

Ooh, link to the video plz?

  • @EVAUnit4A Look for the video, "Star Trek: Of Gods and Men - Part 10" by onlineequines. It's the last part of the film, and you see the saucer separation at the clip's start. By the way, if you're confused by anything you see, much of the plot of "Of Gods and Men" has to do with serious timeline tampering.

I think I've seen it mentioned somewhere that in some Excelsior-class ships were later refitted to be able to separate and reintegrate on-the-fly via mangalock like the Enterprise-D did.

  • @heavyarms01h

    I didn't watch the whole thing, but there's some serious Trek alumni power in that fan movie-!  O_o;

  • @EVAUnit4A Oh, yeah. The film was a "labor of love" from Trek alumni for the fans. As a not-for-profit fan film, it's also available for free download, and the plot was a very interesting idea, especially bringing back Charlie Evans and Gary Mitchell. ^_^

  • @heavyarms01h

Yeah, I mean how'd they get THOSE TWO in there!?

  • @EVAUnit4A It all started when Charlie Evans, sometime after Kirk's loss in Generations, decides to go back in time and prevent his birth because he still thinks Kirk refused to help him. This resulted in a dangerously warped alternate reality. The reasoning was that without Kirk to stop him, Pike remained in command during the events of the 2nd pilot and got killed by Gary Mitchell, who went on to use his God-powers to conquer the Federation and mold it into a Terran Empire-like dictatorship.

  • @heavyarms01h

Hrmm... maybe I should take the time to watch it after all.

  • It's great to see a Star Trek ship review done by someone who's really done his/her homework and can explain why we fans care about these details. Thank you for your efforts!

The Enterprise-D was my childhood dream. I grew up seeing her in action, watching TNG when I was just four years old. I would snatch this version (and the All Good Things "tri-nacelled monster") if I had the money, but as a poor college brat, I'll have to settle for those Japanese-made miniature trading models for now.

  • @heavyarms01h

It also helps that I have an hour-and-a-half to play with here! ^^ I'm glad you liked this.

I was lucky to find this one... years after its production ended! I went for the TWoK Ent the following week, and it was gone. Q_Q

  • Follow up... are there any sticker decals I have to install?

  • @Ianator73

None at all. ...If there had been, I would have mentioned it.

  • Hey EVA, I just won this item on ebay for .99 cents... awesome huh!? But shipping was $85, LOL! So my question is... is it worth it? Did I pay too much?

  • You're right about the transporter emitter decals. The Yacht on the D was the Calypso. And the Galaxy Class was designed during a time of relative peace when the Klingons & the Feds were cool with each other, the Romulans were hiding behind the Neutral Zone, the Cardassians had a cease-fire w the Federation and no one had even heard of the Borg. The Feds then figured that between the relative peace and the saucer sep capability, the civilians would be safe.

  • Oh,and John Eaves felt the same way about the shooting angles

  • @brownblair98

Orly? Did that influence how he designed the Ent-E?

  • @EVAUnit4A: Google "designing the Enterprise-E."

  • @brownblair98

Thanks for pointing that out. IDK a lot of that. ^_^

  • @brownblair98

There was a big discussion about galaxy politics at the time the Galaxy-class was designed on CDX when I posted this, so I already heard that. Thanks anyways.

  • You're right about the transporter emitter decals. The Yacht on the D was the Calypso.

  • @CollectionDX @11:11 You are totally right about 10-forward being in that area. If you look at the show when they are in 10-forward, you can tell that the windows angle forward, toward the front of the saucer section. Thanks for letting the world know where it really is!!

  • @idotrekreviews

No problem. ^^ I thought for sure I'd get hounded by other Trekkies for even mentioning the possibility-!

  • Turrets that go puhew puhew puhew…… LOL!

  • Yay, great review!(Actually the longest I've seen so far :D)

I've got a problem with my model. When I separate the saucer section, the lights and sound of the saucer won't play. When the ship is completely attached together everything works fine. But when I separate the saucer, you can hear the sounds and see the lights for less then a second and then nothing happens. When I reattached the model, the reintegrationsound works. Batterys have been replaced a couple times.Do you know how to fix it?

  • @StarTrekMarco

Thanks. Notice that- unintentionally- the video runs 47mins? >=)

Did you check the Battle Section's batteries? Did you press the reset button inside the Saucer Section when you replaced the batteries in it?

  • Fusion generators are offline, and they are running out of stored reserve power.

  • I really wish they would make these with a small metal socket into the stand which would connect to a metal tab inside the ship, which is wired into the power system, and package or sell an AC adaptor which connects to the stand, allowing for continous light in display mode.

And it's oddly appropriate that it gets it's power from the battle section, because in the show, the ship derived power from it as well. The saucer section only had smaller generators and backup power.

  • @Draknfyre

An AC-adapter stand woulda been nice, but I think this is fine too. I just wish a longer-lasting battery system had been used in the Saucer!

Actually, that's a common misconception- that a Star Trek ship derives primary power from the warp reactor. If the warp reactor is shut down for any reason, why are the lights still on? Because they all get their power from fusion generators. (IIRC, the Ent-D had 5 generators.)

  • @EVAUnit4A

The fusion generators in the saucer section are for backup. The fusion generators supply power while the ship is in operation, but hte primary source of power is the bleed off from the warp core. The technical manuals show the EPS conduit tap in the warp core system. When the saucer is separated, the fusion generators in the saucer are what runs it. There is also battery backup. There are many episodes of Voyager (if you want to consider that) where the warp core is shut down, the

  • @Draknfyre

Yes, there is a back-up system in case the warp core and generators go down, but that is for emergencies. And, yes, the EPS can transfer power to the ship, but that too is a reserve system, NOT the primary draw for power.

In the case of saucer separation, it makes no difference if attached to the core or not because the Primary Hull ALWAYS draws power from the generators, so nothing changes there.

  • Ten-Forward = Tenth deck, forward section of the saucer section.

It is on the edge of the saucer. The Playmates version of the original had a sticker for it. The windows on the set match the windows on the filming model, including the curvature. Which the windows you point out (which do look like they could be Ten-Forward) lack.

Captain's Yacht is Calypso. The name was given by Patrick Stewart himself.

  • @Draknfyre

Yes, I KNOW where Ten-Forward is. I was just saying that the location on the filming model doesn't match the design of the set that the actors move through.

  • so it's an all-in-one purpose ship ^_^

  • @astral33

Kinda has to be for good storytelling, ya know? Plus, when you're on the edge of known space, you need to be prepared for anything. Of course, there are more-specialized ships in Starfleet that mop up after the Ent-D leaves, but she does the initial contact stuff and needs to be flexible to accomplish that.

  • im a favorate to the classic's and the next gen i love them all

  • 47th comment!

The Cult of 47 LI-I-I-I-I-IVES!! Mwahahaha...

  • i have both d's

  • @JediMasterHorton

    And what say you?

  • @JediMasterHorton

I Have this enterprise-d and the all good things enterprise-d

  • @JediMasterHorton

    (makes waving motion)

...AND??? C'mon, don't leave it hanging- what did you think of them!? Don't post JUST to say you have 'em, tell us what you think!

  • If I heard correctly the TOS & TMP saucer separation used explosives to separate the saucer from the engineering haul, the 2 hauls had to be reassembled in space dock

  • @waffleownage

    "Hauls", ehh...? ;P

Perhaps they used explosive bolts that could be replaced in dock, but I never heard the specifics on the technique; I only know it exists and that up until TNG it was a one-use-only proceedure.

  • best intro of Star Trek Every! .......... Of All Time! Booya

  • @SpartanRaven246

Ever, yes. VOY's theme was pretty sweet too, 'cause it was also written by Goldsmith.

  • were did you get this and how muche did it cost?

  • WERE DID YOU GET THIS I LOVE IT AND I WANT IT !! how much did it cost

  • @ThisIsPehPeh

I got it at a local comic book store in downtown Everett, WA.

Watch the credits again for the price. :P

  • @EVAUnit4A would it be in canada a place were they sell alot of action figures and comics

  • @ThisIsPehPeh

I have NO idea! You'll have to e-mail Diamond Select Toys about locations.

I will tell you, though, that they don't make it anymore, and it's sold out on their online store.

  • WERE DID YOU GET THIS I LOVE IT AND I WANT IT !!

  • Another fine review, Eva. I loved the heck out of TNG and still do and it's what got me into Star Trek. Gene Roddenberry's vision of space exploration really spoke to me as a kid and it's helped me a great deal in forming my own view of humanity within the universe. I hope we, too, will eventually be able to leave Earth and go boldly where no one has gone before.

  • @ShiyojinRommyu

Well, I think it'll take a little more than three wise Vulcans to unite us all in peace... but I'm optimistic as well.

  • OMG, I just realized the length of this video hits the magic Star Trek number- 47min! Mwahahahahaha-!

  • EVA_UNIT_4A you are soooooo good at reviews i like how you you say the story in the begining your SUPER COOL >'-'<

  • @mojodrago08

    Thank you! ^_^

It helps a lot that I don't have to break a review into a bunch of little 15min vids & ruin your concentration; an advantage of posting on CDX's channel.

I also like providing some substance to what I cover, not just for the people who already know the character. I don't like, "Here's a toy, and here's what it can do". I don't always get toys for myself for that reason, but I do it more for the uninitiated. =)

(Ack- I forgot how to do cheerleader-Kirby, FAIL.)

  • you are awsome eva you give all the ibformation and go over everything you think and everything the toy can do you are my idol eva keep reviewing the best you can

  • @n3wboyzj3rkin

    Thank you very much!

I'm here to show you everything I can about a toy, to directly influence you and impress you, so that you then go to our sponsors on CollectionDX and buy from them so I can get a kick-back at the end of the year.

    j/k

I'm thorough because I want you to enjoy it as much as I do!

  • Interesting, so the nacelles light up when Picard asks for an Earl Grey...

  • @ahfmak

Meh, I LoL'd the first time I heard it. ^^

Having the nacelle grilles flash like that, though, makes me wanna go into an epileptic seizure or somethin'; just like the lights on Playmates Toys' reboot-Enterprise did. O_o

  • Agreed. EVA_Unit_4A. Your skills of a vidoe reviewer are spot on awsome. i've tried watching other reviews on the CollectionDX's youtube channel and thier quailty and excution of them are so subpar. your usage of sections/scenes or what ever you will call it, garrentees that the over all video quailty is so top notch. Keep up the AWSOME AWSOME work, i'll keep watching/rewatching your reviews

  • @Legokiller1273

    Re-watching??? Chh- well, I'm honored!

And thank you for the feedback, I really do appreciate it.

  • @EVAUnit4A Yep!! good for background watching when me playing my PS2, or just need something to enjoy when i got nuthing to do, hell i think i've watch your entire GAO ranger series like three times! >:D

  • @Legokiller1273

Wow, thank you,. thank you, thank you!

  • The captain's yacht was indeed called the Calypso.

  • @AdamDMurray

    I knew it had something to do with Jacques Cousteau , but I couldn't remember exactly! ^^;

  • excellent review Eva! Nice to see the Enterprise D get a solid toy. I havet both regular + Transwarping versions from Playmates, & their good. But I really like what Diamond did w/their versions.

Local TRU received the TOS Enterprise. I have Playmates' version already, but debating on getting it due to the extra sound effects.

A fun review and glad you got your favorite ship from the series!

I just hope we get an Enterprise C. A missling link in the toy line for sure.

  • @SuperFireDagwon Dude, get it!!! I also own the playmates version of the Enterprise D, and in my own opinion, the Diamond select version is far superior, much more detailed, a little bigger than the playmates version, and the saucer section can be removed as well as it's magnatized, I love mine!

  • @SuperFireDagwon

You have access to DST's TOS Ent? Watch my review on it, and that will help you decide!

  • @SuperFireDagwon

    BTW, I DESPERATELY tried to get the "No bloody A, B, C or D"-joke in, but I just couldn't make it work. >_<;

  • glad you made your own channel, awsome review btw!

  • @gftop

    Thanks, and thank you. ^^

  • Wow, excellent review! I was actually entertained! lol Love all your knowledge of the series, great background and informative. Thanks!

    Cheers,

  • @astroman2112

    Thank you. ^^

  • Congrats on your new channel Eva (that makes me think, does the collection DX channel have playlists for each reviewer, that would be nice if one is looking for a particular review style)

And, though I love the Enterpise-D, I have to say the Enterprise-E is my top choice. though, as I watch DS9, the Defiant is making quiet an impression.

Third, in the pilot of DS9 we do get to see some consequences of having family aboard starships.

Lastly, you know your fans love your long reviews. =)

  • @bustedsim

    Thanks. ^^

I asked Josh about playlists for individual reviewers in 2009, but he said no. HOWEVER, in my own channel, I have a playlist filled with all my CDX vids. So go there, and you'll find them all in one place. ;)

I'm holding-off on the Ent-E until they fix the warp nacelle grille LED problem. However, I have a TWoK refit-Ent and TWoK Phaser in my sights next... (Kills me I didn't have a refit-Ent for this vid, just KILLS me!)

  • LONGEST. CDX. REVIEW. EVER.

When will AA/DST get their hands on the Abramsprise?

I hope whoever is gonna review Yamato's 1/3000 SDF-1 Macross makes one just as long. Thanks Unit_4A!

  • @pinoi78

No problem. I'm glad you liked it.

I could not BELIEVE how long this ran either. O_o; I never thought I could do one this long and get away with it. I considered cutting it in half, but it just didn't play right that way because I didn't shoot it to be made in two parts.

    I think most of the extra time got gobbled up by the trivia and extrapolation... which we Trekkies love to get into. ^^;

  • @pinoi78

There's a Q&A that DST does once in a while, and right now they have no plans to cover the JJ-prise.

They are, however, making both the Excelsior and Ent-B right now, and a Klingon BoP!

  • @pinoi78

Oh, BTW, my RotF Jetfire vid is our longest, when you play all three vids back-to-back.

  • subscribed!! :D

  • FIRST. Mwahaha... >=D

And look- I don't need to sign my name anymore!

  • @EVAUnit4A aww 6 seconds late :(

  • @CharlieC213

    Mwahaha... ;P
