can D90 film Video with HD Quality?

If we compare between HD camcorder, and D90, which one is better?

well if they both were shot at the same settings, i'm sure the camcorder would perform much better as a HD video recorder. Seeing how the camcorder is actually built for recording smooth HD video. the 720p high-def video from the D90 (when shot through a good lens) is actually quite stunning, yet the "rolling shutter" makes capturing intense motion quite difficult... but all in all for a digital SLR, the HD video is stunning.

it is truly the first. other cameras like canon's EOS-1 mark 3 could shoot 10 fps SERVO mode which was like 10 fps video without sound, but definantly not video in any way. Hoah does not know what he's talking about... the D90 is the first SLR to shoot video.

In my opinion the bigger range on lens is for the compact cameras, that's why you can change lenses on slr, so you can have more lenses with better quality. Congratulations on your camera dude, nice video!

If you shoot lots of video, you'd actually prefer manual focus over auto. This way you don't see the video blurring while you pan the camera. All you have to do is zoom in with your lens, focus, and zoom out...

coz im thinking if i just get the d90 body and then buy the 18-200 lens separately, or buy the d90 kit with the 18-105... hmmm... decisions decisions... :)

well when you buy the kit, your actually saving $100 on the 18-105 lens... outside the kit, the lens goes for $399 with the kit, it's only $299. I'd say get the kit, if you need to reach out a little farther, you could always sell the 18-105 and be halfway to a 18-200

The 18-200 has a way bigger range, definitely worth it over the kit lense in my opinion.

I have one, and I think this one is probably a little sharper and probably has less distortion than the 18-200. but that's just my guess, I haven't used one yet.

Thanks for posting. You may not have gone into great depths about the camera, but it's still great to see your reaction lol. I'm interested in getting one but want to see more videos/reviews about it. I know there are a good amount of people that have bought it by now... the problem is that not many sites/people have posted videos and reviews yet. i'd say the only thing that is a little annoying, which i will just have to get used to, is manual focus while shooting video. it's not THAT bad, it's just something i'll have to get used to. But other than that, i absolutely love it. i have shot over 700 pictures thru it in the past 2 days.

well for 90% i used the kit 18-105 VR lens... there are 1 or 2 clips that i used my 50mm f/1.8 lens for, but most was with my 18-105
