My grandmother is paralyzed on one side, is it safe to massage her paralyzed foot and arm? She taught me some massages when she was able to do foot massages for fun from a video she got and learned from. I want to do the same but for her and others now.
It is very nice of you to desire to provide massage for your grandmother. I don't think that could be done any damage by gentle massaging foot and arm. on the other hand I am highly recommend to get permission from primary care physician. only primary-care physicians have information about possible blood clots ets. therefore don't start before talking to Dr.
Have you ever heard of strain counterstrain technique? A method where you shorten the muscle for a minute in a relaxed state to take away muscle spasm.
Karl Levit MD who developed this techniques named it: "post isometric relaxation techniques"
During all my courier I Inc.this technique in treatment protocols for every back and limb disorders. Most of my 12 DVD collection(look at website)additional to trigger point therapy, skin, muscles/fascia mobilization contain post isometric relaxation techniques.
please view youtube sports injury clips where I am explaining necessity to utilize this techniques.
love how Boris rubs out Supinator Pronator and Brachioradialis pain..truly great..and then he goes on to stimulate periosteum cells to heal injuries..
Thank you for a nice comment.According to your comment you carefully viewed my performances. The method that I demonstrate was developed through research. The eventual sequence that you see was selected in a way that all groups of muscles as well as fascia and skin will be stimulated in a predefined order necessary for best results.BTW soon there will be available six self-treatment DVDS, where I demonstrate techniques adjusted from scientific protocols.
Dear Boris, I am 16 yars old and I am having occasional lower back pain and upper arm numbness due to years of riding motocross and injuries due to it. What kind of massage or massages do u recommend to alleviate some of the pain i am having? Do you recommend going to like a spa and having a massage once in a while? Thank-You
"occasional lower back pain" mostly result of mayofascial dysfunction that have to be addresse.mayofascial techniques including trigger point therapy are very effective. in any case I would recommend to see a doctor for a correct diagnosis and especially because upper arm numbness.numbness alone with time can go away but if there muscular atrophy, or other neurological unsufficiency can determine neurologist. in most cases massage is very effective than drugs.
just forgot to mention that at least on 2 clips for lower back you'll be able to see samples of treatment. also soon will be out my self treatment of lower back, shoulder, neck upper back knee and more. All techniques for this region's that proven scientifically and clinically I just adjusted for self treatment. subscribe and you'll be notified on the day of release. I predict that during 1 month allDVDs will be available for general public.Best wishes.Boris

This is a question for Boris: In the last year or so, I have been experiencing pain in my wrist because of using the computer 8 to 10 hours a day. Is there anything I can do at home to alleviate the pain and prevent further damage?
Hi Meaty. due to the fact that already 1 year you experience pain I would recommend you to see neurologist for EMG study. general information on carpal tunnel syndrome you can get by watching my video clips" medical massage in sitting position" as well" medical massage for carpal tunnel syndrome" Best regards. Boris
Look at any recent massage videos by Boris. His hand muscles are very prominent. He's obviously using awesome technique to protect his hands over the years.
I am assuming that you are my colleague. through all my 35 years of clinical experience I am trying to apply correct biomechanical techniques. in my opinion this is the only way to prevent job related injuries. if you were able to notice good biomechanics I am assuming that you applying good one. thanks for comment.Best. Boris
Boris is the one who's doing massage. I am his friend. Regardless, if you do massage correctly your hands wouldn't get more tired that if you do anything else. In other way you've got to make the weight of your body work for you. Go to his site Medicalmassage-edu dot com. You'll be able to find out quite many useful things. I'll ask Boris to answer this question specifically.
Dear fongman312. The matter of fact is that movement of thumbs and fingers supported by 39 muscles. By positioning yourself in right posture you kind automatically dividing physical load on all groups of these muscles therefore preventing overload of wrist, thumbs and fingers. Thanks for asking. My hands OK
thanks! ^^ keep it up!
