Ok, so awhile ago, I wrote some very very insensitive comments about Germany, Germans, and the war.
They came from the mindset of a bitter, peeved off person.
I actually, don't have a problem with Germany, or the people.
I met a German backpacker a short while ago, and found him to be the funniest person I have ever met in my life. And he swore more than anyone I have ever met also. So, in short, I am apologising to anyone I have offended. I am sorry for being a small minded, arrogant jerk.

After the Marines left Germany, the sole purpose of an American presence in Germany was to keep East Germany and the Soviet Union out of West Germany. It's completely defensive, having no involvement in politics, foreign policy or the economy. It's a clever saying, but isn't realistically a supporting argument for what you're implying. The Federal Republic of Germany is absolutely sovereign and free to do what it wishes.
