Let me attempt to harmonize Exodus 21:12 and Ezekiel 18:32: The government can and must punish murderers but God does not enjoy their death. In verse 31 of Ezekiel 18 God asks, "why will ye die?" as if, although He does not enjoy anyone's death, He knows that sometimes He must take life or allow it to be taken. That's what I love about God: He has love and justice. Let's not take pleasure in the death of anyone yet understand that sin has a necessary penalty. Thank God Jesus paid it all.

We genuinely tried saving Vietnam from a very real danger: communism.
The Iraq war, on the other hand, was fought for no reason whatsoever. Every American has blood on their hands from Iraq. I for one am absolutely ashamed of my country's behavior in the last few years. Here in the US we have hundreds of thousands of people serving life-long sentences for violent crimes at the cost of approximately $70,000 PER YEAR PER INMATE. Capital punishment is and always has been a much more just, humane, intelligent, and economical way to handle the problem.

Yes. People should be executed if they are convicted, beyond a reasonable doubt, of a heinous, vicious crime (such as murder, rape, child molestation).
The answer to your second question is far too complex for a youtube comment response. I firmly believe, however, that our limited use of capital punishment (only 42 people were put to death by the US in 2007) is not a significant factor in our relatively high violent crime rate.

Think about waging war as a for instance. Not the Iraq war, but a legit and necessary war. We wage war knowing full well that plenty of innocent people will die. We go to war anyways, though, because we know it is ultimately for the best.
We need to start thinking with our minds again, not just our hearts.
