Maybe gonzo that thought he knew how the brakes worked foresaw the new electric system in a dream. You can drive freight like a toy train with the new equipment ( where fitted ). Passenger trains fitted with graduated release triple valves as we know can be adjusted up and down without a full release being required.
Actually you can do it on every type of train, you can apply and release as much application as you want. You controll how much air gets to the brakes.
No You cannot, My dad is an Engineer and only Passenger trains can do this,Freight cars do not have the right Valves to be able to do this. You can set some, Release, Set more, Release but not barely pull back the handle and release a few pounds or air.
10 lb reductions are when your Setting air! When you kick off your brakes you add air to the line to get the shoes off the wheel. Engine Brakes you can Take the brake on and off, with a Train Brake you release it all at once, you cant just release a little.
Dude You listen, You can take pressure out of the airline to set the brakes, you can set a minimum and then more, When you RELEASE the BRAKES you CANNOT gradually release them . Its either all or nothing... Get your crap straight
I'm thinking, if the trains still had the caboose on them, they'd have Norfolk Southern logos on them, instead of southern or nw.
