...this is so much more beautiful, subtle and connected than those flashy show dances...I love the fact that the older man is the master of this form, and the young woman is so gracefully following his lead...tango with heart...
Argentina's Tango/Milonga: Pure Class. To think that a generation ago in Argentina it almost disappeared due to the military dictatorship's strict assembly bans. This dance form is at the heart of the culture of the Pampas of Argentina, Uruguay, and the gaúcho country of Rio Grande do Sul in Brasil.
I watched this several time. Love Luna's girly figure and her amazing feet, from tiny steps to giant steps. Subtle changes in direction, etc. Must not left out Dani's powerful lead. Major regret of this 240p video. Is there a higher resolution?
@jokerimage If you mean 'Candombe' there is very little resemblance, it's a Milonga. Candombe is mostly African drum music with a rhythm more close to a Samba. Candombe, Milonga & Tango have roots from Africa but not to the extent that candombe has.
@jokerimage en realidad es ''milonga candombe'' y si entiende el idioma este tema hace referencia a la población negra que vivia en Bs As en San Telmo y Monserrat, que la fiebre amarilla practicamente exterminó por falta de atención médica.
I love this video. I've watched it several times. I love the special moves they put into their dance. (One is around 1:30). They continue to amaze me. I also liked the tiny, circular moves they were doing at the end of the video. Thanks for uploading this.
I love that videos of dancers made my dancers always zoom in on the feet when the couple comes close. When you see dancing on TV, they zoom in on their faces - as if we care about their make up!
@Flypsilon2002 Her name is Luna Palacios. I don't know if she is a teacher. Maybe if you google her name there may be some information about her. If you click in "Show more" underneath this video you will see the following note:= Show at a milonga in Buenos Aires; amazing dancing by Dani Garcia and Luna Palacios. If you wish to see the rest of the dance, it is in my list of videos: "Argentine Tango/Milonga--Grand Finale".
Así baila cualquiera.Cualquier persona que tenga la maravilla de cintura que tiene esta campeona baila lo que sea.No es ella la que lleva o mueve la cintura:Es la cintura la que la lleva a ella, tiene una cintura mágica.
TANGO NEGRO!sexy, soooooo sexy, flirting on the dance floor, love ARGENTINE BECAUSE OF TANGO!just wondering----Is this Argentina's normal life?dancing, watching dancing? enjoying dancing?
@kanakaken Actually this is an Uruguayan song, there the african roots are more evident than here in argentina but we do have them too. This type of music is called Cambombe and there's an argentine candombe, brasilian candombe and the uruguayan candombe which is the one that people know best and in my opinion it's the better one to listen and dance :). Cheers
@laleli88 what do you mean by, "This is an Uruguayan song" ? Juan Carlos Caceres The writer of 'Tango Negro' was born in BA, Argentina. Also African roots are evident in almost all Latin American music. Perhaps there is a slight argument, for want of an argument, that because he wrote it in France, it's therefore a French song. I wouldn't argue THAT point though. It really doesn't matter though for in reality all this genre is of The Rio de La Plata.
@kanakaken It's not that easy to write fast in english when in your head you think in spanish :) And no... the real music of peru and bolivia doesn't have african roots. With all due respect, we are not all the same, we share language but even in one country you can find more than one culture. I thought you would know that since you are Australian, another country made of inmigration. (And yes tango/candombe/milonga it's rioplatense).
@laleli88 Hola,Yo tengo la misma problema con espanol- but worse than you, your English is very good.
I know indigenous music doesn't have African roots that's why I said "almost all Latin American music" & I wasn't insinuating you're all the same. Peru has less than 150 languages left over from more than 300. The most multicultural country I have been to is Papua New Guinea where they speak 700 languages & more than 2000 dialects with a population of only near 4 million. Muchos saludos.
@laleli88 No hay problema ! Another island nation, Vanuatu, used to have a population close to a million with 140 different languages, now with a population of about 250,000 speak only 86 languages. The Aborigines of Australia now speak less than 150 languages but used to have about 400 to 500. Australia is so multilingual, we broadcast in 140 languages on the radio & TV. In our family we speak English, Spanish & Melanesian Pigin. Saludos.
@Lolatangomilonga ah! you're both so talented, and how lucky to have danced with this man :) i'm just getting introduced to Tango, it's so subtle and challenging, also there seems to be all sorts of styles on the internet, it's hard to differentiate

flort13 You're right the Milonga is very dynamic and I also like the music.

@87044078 If you think this dance is good you should see Derek Hough dance! He is all over youtube, so it should not be hard to find a video of him or just search for Derek and Nicole.
I love this dance and song, because it includes the SLAVES MUSIC that the AFRICAN IMMIGRANTS brought to our ARGENTINA when they tried to scape slavary from BRASIL! Argentina never had black people as SALVES! CANDOMBE NEGRO IS THE AFRICAN PEOPLE GIFT TO ARGENTINA
@lsophial I appreciate your thought's about tango, Argentina and black people but let me tell you: slavery was partially abolished here in 1813 only for new born people and totaly in 1853's Argentina's Constitution. You are right about placing candombe in tango's roots but candombe is more from Uruguay than Argentina. Tango´s origin is a much more complex combination of cultures brought by immigrants AND african rythms. Argentina is a wonderful mixture of these cultures. (C, from Buenos Aires)
@Herbiesmom56 -- those dancers on Dancing with the Stars have no idea how to dance Argentine Tango let alone milonga -- you can't compare authentic dancing with stage tango for TV.
You must not know the real skill involved in Argentine Tango. What they are doing is not only beautiful but masterful! Dancing with the stars can be fun to watch, but it takes away what really makes each dance so unique and adds a bunch of flash, flare, smokes and screen to make it entertaining to the masses who watch.
Glad you get enjoyment out of Dancing with the Stars though - we all have different tastes.
I am a champion figure skater turned judge. The Argentine Tango is a dance done in both and ice and roller figure skating. It's intricate and full of leg crosses like this. Search Argentine Tango figure skating to see it performed. I think you'll enjoy it.

Thank you very very much for your help and information but jchung8100 replied that this song is from the album "Toca Tango" from Juan Carlos Caceres. I do not who I can believe but I will look by Google for Juan Carlos Caceres and Ulpian Vergara.
Thank you!

This is not a milonga, this is a candombe, music from Uruguay...
Danced by Dani at Nino Bien in Buenos Aires, to Tango Negro.
He is a joy to dance with and my honor to call him my friend.

CANDOMBE NEGRO IS THE AFRICAN PEOPLE GIFT TO ARGENTINA
lsophial 1 year ago
@lsophial I appreciate your thought's about tango, Argentina and black people but let me tell you: slavery was partially abolished here in 1813 only for new born people and totaly in 1853's Argentina's Constitution. You are right about placing candombe in tango's roots but candombe is more from Uruguay than Argentina. Tango´s origin is a much more complex combination of cultures brought by immigrants AND african rythms. Argentina is a wonderful mixture of these cultures. (C, from Buenos Aires)

Dancing with the Stars you are not! Sorry. Not that good. :(
Herbiesmom56 1 year ago
@Herbiesmom56 -- those dancers on Dancing with the Stars have no idea how to dance Argentine Tango let alone milonga -- you can't compare authentic dancing with stage tango for TV.

@Herbiesmom56
