@twindwick Yeah, Ian Pooley is actually a great example of what happened to electronic music in general. His old stuff is really raw, unpolished, but absolutely alive, so full of soul.

Since Then (heh), Ian's production skills (and gear) have improved immensely -- his latest stuff sounds very professional, great sound quality -- but the soul is gone. A lot of electronic music has followed this path.

Look up Titan & Red Acid Jack - Right On Time (Ian Pooley Mix) for another soulful classic.

I will say this though tron will have a semi orchestrated electric sound thats made to enhance the images on screen therefore a funky beat would not be appropriate if it didn't help the feel of the current scene.
