  • Ya..today movie theaters are so AWFUL..they smell ..they are generic looking..the treats are way too expensive..and most of the films are crap..

Back in the days of the MOVIE PALACES..live music.. ushers that actually seat you..popcorn with REAL butter..and Valentiono up on the screen...If I could go back in time..I would LIVE at the movies!!

  • Great Movie indeed....thanx for posting.

  • I had no idea this part was in color. When they showed it on TCM, only the resurrection was in color.

  • "Mary, if thou will give kisses to that beast-why not to me?"

lol, I don't blame her..that jungle cat is just adorable, I wouldn't mind giving kisses to it than some half-naked fudgly guy XD

  • great definition

  • I love this movie, it's so touching.

  • Google hells best kept secret

  • This is what you'd call "artistic liberties". There is very little about Mary Magdalene in the bible.

  • Wooot, don't mess with Magdalene when she pissed o.o

  • Thank you for posting. God bless you.

  • This version of KING OF KINGS has a synthesized score by Donald Sosin. Joanna Seaton, voice, Susan Heerema, violin, and singers under the direction of Marguerite Mullee.

  • Fantastic movie. Imagine being a movie goer back then. Going to the movies was a real event. And going to see a epic like The King of Kings had to have been a HUGE event in 1927.

  • Now this looks like a Jesus movie! Those makers of silent movies, and even early sound movies, had something which modern filmmakers, even greats like Spielberg and Scorsese, have lost. Even with all the millions poured into modern special effects, they just lack the sense of epic scale and even dangerous excitement that these movies had. DeMille, though he messed with strict Biblical narrative, really knew how to tell a story. A great maker of great films.

  • Lets clear up something. Palestine was the AREA of the Middle East. Judea was the country ruled by the JEWISH king Herod. Palestine was always a heavily fought over area with the Jews from the Exodus from Egypt displacing the Caananites. That little event occured about 1250 BC. Yes let's pray for peace and a two-state solution for this troubled [still] land and its suffering peoples.

  • Howard Hughes makes a ref to this movie on Scorcese's aviator.

  • Watching this rarely seen intro in color must have been amazing for audiences back in 1927. Of course, this is just two-strip color. Not the Technicolor which is used in almost every movie nowadays. Still, I'm sure audiences were astounded.

  • @poughkeepsiejohn1 Well, I'm not sure it would be TOO amazing. Two-strip Technicolor had been around for about 10 years at this point, and at least one feature length film (The Toll of the Sea, in 1922, with Anna May Wong, who was wonderful) was made entirely in Technicolor.

  • @poughkeepsiejohn1

Technicolor is not used in movies these days, we few exceptions. True three strip Technicolor is a specific, patented process that became cost prohibitive by the 1960s. It is unfortunate, because true Technicolor films like The Red Shoes and Black Narcissus are unsurpassed today in their color reproduction--and also allows more accurate restoration of the original image and colors as time passes. One of those situations of technology regressing rather than progressing.

  • Thank you, God bless you for posting this ... see, even good 'ole Cecil de Mille knew Palestine existed.

    Pray for Peace.

  • King of Kings discussed in great new bio (All About Jeffrey Hunter) at amazon!

  • Great bio on the star of the 1961 King of Kings film Jeffrey Hunter at amazon! It is called All About Jeffrey Hunter!

  • Thank you so much for posting this video with Jackie Logan, I met her in the late 1970's what a beautiful lady. I just love seeing her in her 20's as an actress.

Jackie you are missed, god bless.
