  • you know there is a free running game like this somewhere online

  • I used to play this game a lot in my childhood ! Good game !

Love the last "level" music !

  • how come no lame ass Geico advert at the begining of this vid? GOD I miss those adverts. This was/is a great game and amazing graphics game for the 2600.

  • killing crockos while swiming that some great crockodile hunting!

  • this game was great, still, to this day I can't make it past that second awful cannibal!

  • side scrolling from right to left is really not that common.

  • i fvckin' miss my ATARI!!!!!!!

Sold it in '87 to buy a NES when I was 9.

Looking back . . . worst decision ever.

This was definitely one of my fave games on the system

  • @nevmiles Got mine out of the loft last night. It still works! Played Pacman & Frogger and the annoying Breakout. I'm gonna buy some games off ebay!

  • @nevmiles Well, there are emulators. I have emulators for nearly every retro console. Atari 2600, 5200, Intellivision, Colecovision, NES, SNES, Sega Geneses, & dozens more. I also have literally EVERY single ROM/game ever made for all of them. Some emulators even have online/netplay option for 2 player vs, co-op play. If interested, let me know. We could play online sometime.

  • What is the name of the music at the end of this video?

  • Boy.

  • hehehe love it!

  • I LOVE CGRHD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

  • DIdnt Mel Gibson direct a jungle hunt movie? Oh sorry that was apcolypto.

  • It shows a bad hardware and good planning is better than a good hardware but poor planning

  • @Allosaurus87 For 1977 the hardware on the Atari 2600 was COMPLETELY unrivaled. You have to take that into consideration.

  • decent graphics for the atari 2600-

  • One thing I'm wondering about, how does the Atari 2600 save the highscores? Does it or the cartridges have battery memory?

  • Comment removed

  • @Zambaku Some games at the time did, yes, but most just reset them after every playthrough so that you had your friends beat them as well. Not very many out there.

  • lol nice girl in bikina with chainsaws

  • it's like jungle hunt, you eva play'd jungle hunt, toedoedoedoedoedoedoe hehehahahahahaha- Mike Matei Joker.

  • @bassie52 Lol I was thinking just that when I came here.

  • That movie would rule! "Feel the Heat of Jungle Hunt."

  • Jungle Hunt for the 2600 blew me away, i couldn't believe how well done it was.The thing i thought was cool was the score points showing whenever you got points like when you killed a croc!, which was a rare thing for 2600 games to do.The graphics were fantastic.

  • My favorite Atari 2600 game of all time! This blew my mind as a kid back in the day, and I would sit there and replay through the tiny handful of stages hours at a time. Great times, and as somebody mentioned, very impressive for the 2600.

  • Now that Kid Icarus Uprising is out, you might get a ton of numbers if you do a Kid Icarus NES review. The tag words could pull up a lot of hits I mean. You know what I mean. :)

  • @hootyhaha

Kid Icarus Uprising is NOT out yet. As most of us know, it will be one of the launch titles for Nintendo's upcoming handheld, THE NINTENDO 3DS, coming in 2011. The 3DS will have DRASTICALLY improved hardware, plus it will feature stereoscopic 3D effects on the top screen WITHOUT GLASSES. IGN even stated: "wow. this is going to be big."

  • @Nintendogamr123 Doesn't matter. It still can't be as complex as a full game created for the Wii Console. They couldn't pack that much info into a game for a hand held. Nintendo shafted the fans that have been loyal since the 80s. I'm a console player, I bought a console for a reason. I am not made of money and don't want to buy a hand held system on top of the console I spent money on.

  • @hootyhaha

Woa woa, hold on, I'm not forcing technology's advancements on you to buy a handheld, just wanted to tell you that it's not out yet, but it's been announced. Didn't mean to go off on a long, excited explanation of the 3DS's features.

  • @hootyhaha actually the 3ds is much more advanced than the wii it has more proscesing power and better graphics!

  • @ignika98 No, that's not true.

  • This looks advanced as hell for Atari, almost an early NES game. Didn't know it could do scrolling like jungle in the beginning.

  • Love this game! Man this brings me back.

  • I Have this game it's Awesome!!!!!

  • I used to play this on the Atari 800. Good gravy, there's no way anyone could get away with making a game as un-PC as this one is these days. :P

  • ooooooooh i love Ramen Noodles soup!

  • They're going to.... Eat ... My wife. Sick.

  • This was the first game I ever played. That guy with the spear that jumps back and forth is what stuck out the most in my mind about this game.

  • Kept me ammused for hours in the eighties!

  • This game is really impressive for the 2600

  • NO YOU!

  • A great Game!!! Its good playable, nice Graphis but it's a little short. In 3 Minutes you have seen all screens. But Jungle Hunt is one of the most selled Games on atari 2600. A must have for fans of the atari 2600!!!

  • I think he sounds exactly like Ivan Reitman.

  • he sounds like dj on wave 103 in vice city

  • Dude you sound like the narrator from Hookers on the Point.....the show from HBO

  • Ahahaha! Brent Owens!

  • pitfall was fucking hard!

  • the first game i ever played, i was 2 years old in 1984, i could get up to the third level

  • I wish I could kill crocodiles like that.

  • That would be so sweet lol

  • My mom loved this game to death. It was pretty cool during that time.

  • He could use a gun.

  • mark totally said puss...

  • need the movie

    Hollywood are you listing

  • SHHHH im workin on it...

  • i love this game!!! thanks for posting Mark:)

  • I think this was called something else in Europe, and instead of a guy in a jungle hat you played as a Tarzan looking character.

  • Actually, no, it was the exact same game over here and it was called Jungle Hunt. I played that game over and over again. Anyone remember Pac-Kong, by the way? The walking sound of the game character (dip-du-dip-du-dip-du-dip-du) echoed in my ears when I would go to sleep, I can clearly remember.

  • Jungle Hunt: The Movie? I'd watch it!

  • very good graphics for the 2600

  • thats a great location for a resturant

  • lol at the jazz bedroom music at the end of this clip.

  • COOL

  • your too good

  • great memories

  • I'm sorry man. But to say that this game is as good, if not better than Pitfall 1 is a contradiction in terms. Imposisble. Pitfall is still considered the best if not the best 2600 game ever made. Jungle Hunt was a great game, but even the arcade version wasn't as fun as Pitfall, let alone Pitfall II. It was a good effort by Atari, but Activision pushed the system to the limits, Jungle Hunt doesn't even come close my friend.

  • You need to consider the power of the Atari 2600 back in the day. There was no other game like Pitfall. the colorful graphics, the moving character (that looks like a person) which was unheard of back in the day. It pushed the console back in the day. Today's standards, yeah, it's not much, but for back in the day, it was clearly the best game on the 2600, no question.

  • It's LAME the chick is not tied up hanging from a Tree and the Savages are spaced too far apart and it does not play the save the chick music at the end.

  • Your an Idiot you know that right? It was produced on the Atari 2600 hundred the system was as complex as a toaster oven, god your a idiot.

  • You suck u idiot.

  • you sir clearly do not understand the concept of good gameplay.

Tis a pity that such great gameplay in classic systems is regarded as something that "sucks" the the ills of WoW and Guitar Hero and the like propagate retail shelves, slowly creating yet another downfall in gaming.

tis a pitty, really. Kids today have no idea at all what actual qualtiy and originality is: all they get are poor quality ripoffs of already existing, good games.

  • I'm a new generaton gamer and I think so too. I don't always buy the hyped games and those with hyper marketing. I think the most important aspect of a game is the gameplay. Also a story would be good too.

  • Good gameplay is key, followed by some form of good story. Puzzle games can forgo story, as usually they are PURELY gameplay oriented.

Graphics are only the icing on the cake, in a way.

I am very glad that people like you are out there. :)

  • Thanks.

You mentioned aboyt those poor quality ripoffs of original games. I think Saints Row is one. It's not too bad, but it's totally ripped off from GTA. It has some originality too.

  • Yes. there is a fine line between stealing a game, using a games style, and then actual original work.

SR seems to generally be a nice alternative, but still basically the same game concept. by that nature, one cannot really be better than the other.

  • u crazy this was the bomb back in 1984.... i loved this on the c-64......

those games and graphix back then... is what ps3 and xbox is 2day...

20 years from now your children will probably laughing at you and you ps3s and xbox`s

  • I wouldn't call it lame. This is a fun game on the 2600. It even looks good for a 2600 game. But you are right a couple changes would have made it a better port and shouldn't have stressed the 2600 doing it. First the boulder screen should have been up hill instead of flat. Second as you mentioned they should have had both natives and the girl hanging from a vine all together on the last screen.

  • Btw if you complain about them not being like the arcade... back then "Hey mom i'm gonna go play videogames!" meant your leaving the house and hanging with friends.

And if they made it perfect...well the arcades would be outa business. Like around the time of the SNES and arcade likeness brought home. I miss the old arcades.

  • i recently got an atari emulator with 2552 games(alot) and i play the games after I see the review. Im a massive Berzerk fan, but when is the Vault Assault review gonna be possible?

  • "holy sh*t theyre going to eat youre wife!" lol

  • sweet i still have this game its prob one of the best 8 bit games out there lol 2600 is the best console ever

  • lol wicked ass story .. nice review

  • lmao at the ending music. wasn't expecting that.

  • nice....

  • you should tottaly make a jungle hunt movie mark

keep making great vids and game reviews

  • I already am... JUst wait, it will be glorious!

  • I was talking about the Mark who makes the classic game room HD reviews not you, but oh make it anyway lol.

  • great vid!!

  • i remeber playing this game...iu never realised it was so short :)

  • it's a review you dick

  • What's woth people's lame ass obsession with watching others play games on TV or in the stadiums???

  • Because it helps relate where things originate from. Of course you're probably the same type of person who likes I-Robot the movie. Rather than knowing that the studio that made it, bent over a classic novel, made a movie based on a script they already had, changed some minor elements to make it seem like it was trying to be the book. Guess what, Logic was suppose to conquer Emotion and bring a golden age.Just like I Am Legend. He was the monster, not the creatures. Oh and the girl was a vampire.

  • I-Robot actually wasn't a terrible movie. Of course the book was better (when are they not?), but as a stand alone story it was pretty good compared to the usual hollywood fare.

But why are we talking about this here? Jungle Hunt!

  • It wasn't meant to be the book. That was my point. They were ALREADY going to make that movie under a different title, "Hardwired". Right before Production started they the rights became available the studio acquired them and just tweaked a few parts of the script to make it kinda like the book, but of course completely change the meaning behind the ending... And basicly didn't line up at all. Fuck wiki the bastard thing if you are too lazy to read.

  • huh, well my point was that it was a decent hollywood flick. Especially considering Will Smith was in it....

  • If you think that why are you subscribed

  • What? I like his videos, I'm not sure if it was reply to me or what (just got notified that I received a reply). I was defending the the fact that he was speaking during the video and being informative. I personally hate videos of just playing the game. I find that a tad pointless he at least makes them interesting.

  • It was a reply to another guy

  • Does the title fucking say "Speed Run"? No, it says "Review" dumbass. Jesus Crist, why do you even click on the movie just to post a comment? Do you have any life outside of youtube?

  • YOur shit doesn't sound like an enjoyable mean.

  • Hah, nice story. Croc: Legend of the Gobbos is another good example of hilarious writing.

    Great review!

  • I love the music or the arcade version of this game.

  • Lol!

i dont wanna know waht they were smoking to come up with that story XD

  • Man! This game was my favorite for the 2600! Still have it.

  • looks fun!

  • Well, I'm not familiar with this game, but wow what a story!

  • Very nice!!!

Wasn't the game originally supposed to have Tarzan in it, but because of legal issues they changed the main character into a Great White Hunter?

  • Earlier versions of the original arcade game (Jungle Boy (prototype), Jungle King) had a Tarzan-like character and the Tarzan yell. Taito was sued by the Edgar Rice Burroughs estate for copyright infringement.

  • Cool, thanks for clearing that up!

  • one word.... dude!

  • I remember this game. I forgot all about it? Wnen will we see a review of Burnout Paradise City for the PS3.

  • We've never played Burnout Paradise to be honest, we'll have to look into it.-CGRHD
