The first 3rd position work I tried was Adam Gussows "Thunky Fing." Marine bands die yound in second position with me, so I save them for first and third position work. Did you check out Son of Dave? If you haven't, DO! He use's an akai loop pedal to great effect. NTJ
Yes, I've known about Son of Dave for awhile now, discovering the documentary on him on YouTube (search YouTube).
The loop effect pedal (shown in the documentary) works great for his one-man band approach. I may have to try one just for fun.
It is very important to learn how to breathe through the harmonica--inhale and exhale, instead of BLOW and DRAW. More dynamic sounds, especially when amplified, and harmonicas last much longer.
It's great when you transcend conscience thought and just play. People get so overwhelmed with "right or wrong" they can't play a thing, LOL! I have been occupying stages alone for years, as a gueat or open mike nights, A loop machine will provide me with several bask-up musicians...all ME! Someone told me a year ago that loop machines were basically useless and more of a toy than an serious accesory,S.O.D. proved him wrong. I was willing to pay whatever it cost, but one dickhead salesman...

Another military 'taps' song is "You're in the Army Now"... also all blows if you start on 3 blow, but all draws if you start on 1 draw.
Taps and Reveille also all draws if you start on 1 draw.
Whyzat ?

EGADS MAN! YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT! I didn't know that. It's actually EASIER drawing reveille. The stuff you learn...NTJ

Using just draws, you are actually playing cross-harp (2nd position), like you do for blues, but you don't need any bends.
Using just the blow notes, you are playing in 1st position.
Good stuff!
