I was surprised to see Martin packing. In his Level II course, I recall him commenting that he was not cool with packing on static attempts. Maybe he just was against excessive packing.
easy, take a course from Martin through Freediving Instructors International. he set you well on your way, even provides training sessions for competitive free divers at times in the year
Basically after a full breathe they push more air into their lungs using their tongue I am pretty sure. The best guys can "pack" in quite alot more extra air.
packing is compressing air in your lungs so that you have more available volume to use when submerged. it is an advanced technique, one that can lead to trouble unless all appropriate precautions are followed. Martin teaches the technique in his third level course.
My best 3:40 it's I did when was 17. In 1997. Today I could do nearly 3 minutes. Alh

Can someone please explain the "packing" for me? Is he just swallowing air or something. Please what is it and why is it done?

I started my training today. I tested my static dry apnea and got 2:37. I was shooting for three but started having spasm that were just too much.

Take the course with Martin, you should at least double that perhaps more.

You can do much, much better than that with a little training.
