Thank you so much for posting this song and the beautiful video. This song moves my heart but I never know if I'm going to smile......or cry. How I miss this type of music and the beautiful voice of JD.
"Darcy Farrow," a folk song written by Steve Gillette and Tom Campbell, mentions Yerington, Nevada.("Her eyes shone bright like the pretty lights / That shine in the night out of Yerington town," and other landmarks in the area, including Virginia City, the Carson Valley, and the Truckee River. Critics have noted the geographical inaccuracy in the line "The Walker runs down to the Carson Valley plain." was performed by John Denver and recorded on his multi-platinum album Rocky Mountain High.
The images and my favourite JD song now remind me of my youngest Daughter who was taken by her Fiance to his Scottish family just outside of Glasgow and then on to the families vacant holiday cottage in the highlands where he lit the cottage full of candles and then proposed to her overlooking the Loch, he said he felt nearer his father and was introducing her to him because he passed on when Stuart was 14 and his dad lived in the cottage. she accepted of course God bless them both.
Yesterday, as many of us know, was the 14th anniversary of John's sadly passing... I've always loved this song, from both John Denver as well as the version John Adams sings. In fact, when I heard that version the first time I really felt fooled and thought it was JD singing. I love the song soo much I almost always use Darcy as my name in forums and games.
I also love Scotland and wish to see it someday... Thank you for sharing this beautiful photos mixed with this great song
@65Darcy Thank you, Darcy, for enjoying this video of John's song, Darcy Farrow - and for loving the music of JD. Yes, we, too, passed the anniversary of John's death in remembrance and sadness.
I'm 43, and I've grown old with John's music....I really want to belive that he's still alive in our minds and in our hearts.....he's now singing in Heaven and he'll do ti forever.....(forgive my bad english...)
@65Darcy I couldn't agree more! This has been one of my favourite ever songs since I first heard it in the 70's. So tragic that John died at only 53 and in the untimely way that he did!
I can never stop at least one tear from falling when I listen to this song. Beautiful video. I learned this song by heart from an old LP album from Ian and Sylvia way back in the day when I was a kid. Just a beautiful, touching sound and lyrics, I will never forget, it's like mother's milk to me.
Never listend much to John Denver until I got a tape of my dad when he was between 18-21 while in prison singing this song along with the song "This Old Guitar" and man how beautiful, My dad always had a great voice but singing those two songs were amazing. The lyrics are great too. Great songs by John.
I wanna give this both hands' worth of thumbs up. Johnny had a sweet voice and was an underrated guitar player. I had forgotten how beautiful this song is. Thanks for posting.
Thank you, all you beautiful people for enjoying my video, Darcy Farrow. I enjoyed making it, especially since John Denver is one of my most favorite singers.
It's a little depressing, sure. It's just a folk song based on the younger sister of the original songwriter (Steve Gillette). He had a little sister who was 12 years old. She was kicked in the face by a horse and broke her jaw, and was in the hospital for a few days. Everything else was well, she did not die. Her name was Darcy. Tom Campbell, the co-writer on the song, took a melody Gillette had written and came up with a story about the two young lovers and the tragic fall.
How thankful could one be to Lord that he let one live at the same time as John Denver lived? Thank you my Lord. Do you know why John died? God wanted him for himself
Such a beautiful song, and a special story. I'd love to see the story made into a movie. A movie like they used to make. No fancy effects, just a simple beautiful
story of love that will live forever. To know such love would make any life complete.
Beautiful video. Such lovely pictures of Scotland. Thank you for posting for us to enjoy. Goes so well with John's Darcy Farrow. I am part Scots, but never have been there.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU For this version! Its off my Rocky Mtn. High But like having it here too! Makes me wanna live forever in GODS COUNTRY! Ya'll know what i mean! LOL
Thank you for posting this song Nancy. In my opinion, this is the most wonderful song ever recorded. The pictures of Scotland are incredible also. Iwill make it there on day to see Dundee in person, I think.
Hi Nancy, I enjoy making videos also, I think it is an addiction with me. I get an idea in my head and i can't rest until I put it together. I also take request. i am pondering on three of them right now. Sometimes I will go for days, maybe months trying to find something that will fit the song. It is like putting a gig saw puzzle together in my head. i have to find just the right piece that will fit. And when I find it I know that it is right.
Thank you so much for posting this song and the beautiful video. This song moves my heart but I never know if I'm going to smile......or cry. How I miss this type of music and the beautiful voice of JD.

beautiful song, photos are awesome, and fit the song very well.
the story doesn't take place in scotland though,
all the references are to locations around carson city, nevada
walker river, carson valley, truckee river, viginia city, yarrington, nv
i believe the writer of the song was from around there. thanx for posting song.
