When he was done he only tested the one switch and not the other end of this three way switch system. No ground and no neutral (as the neutral was used as a traveler), interesting.
Watching this video, and reading the other comments, I'm scared to death. I'm not an electrician, and I can't tell if this is safe or not. There should be absolutely NO DOUBT about the SAFET of the instructions. THE VIDEO SHOULD BE REMOVED!!!
@alfredreed please don't take this the wrong way, but if you're not sure about what the different colors of the wires mean, then you probably should not be doing any electrical work on your house. If I were you, I would always contact an electrician.
i installed 3-way occupancy sensor switches in my stairway and they don't work.
they turn on when they want, and stay on. some times they shut off, sometimes they stay on for hours and hours. the first switch in the line does not work, but the second switch works. but the lights stay on. can you please help?
He said the power was off. Why then was there a spark at 2:52? Also he did not attach a copper ground to the switch's ground terminal? Not to mention, he was using a plastic, (ungrounded) box.
@odmcarp Who said he wanted people to do this with the power on? My point was, he says he turned the power off, but there was a spark during his demonstration. Second point was there was no ground to the switch.
this wasn't a 3 way

Surprised to see he did this with a live circuit, and made no mention of the ground wire. A bad example..
