And Advent Children made it look like Cloud and Tifa were a couple, I mean it looked like they were living together, though obviously its not definite. Crisis Core takes place 5 years before FF VII. When Zack dies at the end Cloud promises to live both their lives. 5 years later when Cloud meets Aerith, he reminds her of Zack. Plus Aerith being an ancient, Sephiroth wanting Jenova take over the world, and Cloud being the only one to stop him, is the only reasons why I would say Cloud and Aerith are linked.

So if Mako was said as "make-o", it would have been spelled "Meko", since 'E' is used to represent the "ay" sound.

@alexanderocks It was a translation error. In Japanese, there's no "th" sound. The closest thing to it is an "s" sound. That's why in Japan her name was Aerisu. Then when they translated they interpreted "su" as an s.
