  • Great version! ELO was a highly underrated band.

  • I forgot about this song 'til I saw this video. Love ELO. Hey everyone in tubeland: I won't ever let anyone Bring me Down and I challenge you to Hold on Tight to your Dreams or you may just Turn to Stone ;)

  • I would give a years'salary to see these guys live!!!!! Been listening to them for the past 4 (count them) decades....70's, 80's, 90's 2000, 2010 plus...Hope I go down with them on December 21......2012..............I'll turn to stone...............

  • wait, he's 67 in this video, and he sounds like hes 20

    how the what?

  • BRILLIANT

  • 12 people turned to stone

  • I love how he nails it at 2:00 and the crowd lets him know he nailed it !! Great Performance !!

  • I was in 7th grade and this was the ship!

  • Got the DVD, its brilliant.

  • When was this filmed?

  • holy crap! this was the concert that my dad went to, i have to show him this!

  • Good,drummer,who is he.

  • I'm 44 and grew up with this group. They still got it. Rock on ELO. Thanks for the great music.

  • The guy that say's they are better than the Beatles is clearly special needs, they were good but to compare them with the Beatles is a bit like saying Nick Griffin is a better politician than Churchill.

  • @mevagissey69 well, i like them better than the beatles *not saying they are better* that is subjective =/

  • opposite of the weeping angels! LOL! I love this song!

  • Still got it, right on the money!! Awesome song. One of my favs. Thanks for the great post!

  • Excellent great to hear this again - with the original ELO lineup

  • Listened to those guys for a decade,,,gave them up for a decade...listening to them again this decade.....I,m not stoned,,,I've Turned to Stone!!!!!!!!

  • @t1lebb20 Me too jajaja, what a coincidence!!!!

  • ELO,WAS AMAZING not only Jeff Lynne!

  • just amazing, cheers The Makem Folk Singer

  • daniel brou

  • I think (know) these guys are better than the Beatles

  • @jabbatwo there's no such thing as "better" in music. ELO may be better to you, but they can't be objectively better.

  • Jeff - Hurry up with that new album

  • Good music.

  • wow ty 4 posting the vid elo is the greatist band of all n lil miss rosie is hot but the short haired lizz on the chellow is hot lol ty 4 the vid

  • Your amazing Jeff !!!!!!!!

  • Jeff Lynne has a great voice. PERIOD.

  • She didn't. (I'll wait until some noob corrects me)

  • I didn't know Chelsea Clinton sang with ELO. (I'll wait until some noob corrects me)

  • @martel732 keep waiting

  • I can never get tired of this music, timeless......this music is a gift I treasure !

  • Gregg Bissonette helps make the feel of this band. He is a God

  • How cud i hear this & feel sooo good inside?!? Remember being Care-Free - all my friends when things were Simple,,,,ahhhhh

  • By mistake, I ordered live at Wembley - from 1978 - I popped it in - and watched it. Silk pants and white Cellos - and of course, Jeff Lynne. It's a real time capsule ELO fans so check it out. Now I'll order this DVD. His voice is so amazing live. Really it is. I had tickets to the cancelled tour - and I regularly listen to Sweet Talkin' Woman when I run, and I daydream I'm the back up singer like Val, who is a classy, amazing, perfect vocalist for ELO, she's stunning.

  • kickcopper10-Man I had this around '78 , Played this album so damn much . Still sounds great to me. Wher are they today???? Too cool

  • Rosie Vela fits anywhere, especially on stage here.

  • this really needed Kelly!!!!!

  • @sunspark01 That's right .. no and why the female vocals do not fit into ELO ...

  • Class

  • oh yeah..memories.

  • Remember when i first heard elo when i was 13 in Liverpool thanks to my brother in law, brilliant band and the production is extra fantastic, Love classical music mixed with guitars with a modern twist, E.L.O not only Rocks but tweeks my nipples man. God bless E.L.O ohh and my nipples l.o.l Rock on .

  • WOW ! I"m now 16 years old again and I HATE IT !!! STOP THIS ! but I LOVE THIS SONG !! I have teh damn lp in my freak'n garage ! I bought the damn LP back then ! I think i paid 8.99 for it. I worked at a pancake house as a busboy and cleaned up tables for pigs. ( that was rude I know) but looking back really< id did pick up shit from pigs at that age. WOW !!! I l LOVE THIS SONG !

  • I have been *so luckY* to be cognizant of modern music all during Lynne's productive period. He may not be cited as a genius - but it's obvious he is.

Lynne's beard, hair and glasses are as much as disguise and a mask as Lady GaGa's much more ostentatious costumery. If I passed a clean-shaven Jeff Lynne of the street, I wouldn't recognize him.

He wants it that way, possibly. All that facial hair is protection of his privacy.

  • One of my most favourite ELo's songs

  • Great song! Jeff Lynne is a great singer, and i also like George Harrison.

  • This is just superb.sounds like a studio version, but it is live ,,this is pure perfection in work ,I am loving it

  • brummy at its best !

  • all I can say is that a strange majic helped me. Helped me out of my stone, fk it what a great sound i love you all and will give it all to help everyone....kiss there once was a plumber named steve who plumbed a young maid by the sea...said the maid stop your plumbing cause I think someone is coming.....said the plumber stilll plumbing...ITS ME

  • What's the girl's name?

  • @itzjoeymac Rosie Vela. Believe it or not she's about 47 here!!

  • Bisonette Rocks !

  • marry me jeff lynne!!!

  • since when did nicole kidman join the band?

  • Great live.

  • i turn to stone......

  • Rosies smile at 2:03 makes me hot......

  • somehow, these glasses just don't fit Mr. Lynne like the ones he wore during the 1970s.......

  • Considering all the keyboard synth lines and harmonies that are needed to get this song goin' I think this sounds great.

  • when i die, all i want at my funeral is jeff lynne singing the whole time, nothing else

  • WOW KILLER PERFORMANCE....THANKS

  • I have this! I,ve been an ELO fan since the beginning and although this is a completely band, they sound better live than ever. Jeff still has it and Rosie is as talented as she is beautiful!

  • @8moody1 I agree. At first, I wondered about bringing in a female vocalist to harmonize with an all-male band, but, after listening to a few cuts, I wonder why ELO didn't do this 15 years earlier. Particularly telling was the part alluded to in one of the top comments, at 2:12, where we got a rare smile out of the usually stoic Jeff Lynne. It wasn't just Mr. Lynne who made it through a complicated and quick lyric delivery, it was the lot of them, using a sliding harmonic. Excellent job!

  • Mark Mann does a helluva job on guitar for this tour. He also appeared in 2004 for the induction of George Harrison into the RRHOF. He is the one in the beanie playing lead guitar on "While my Guitar Gently Weeps" alongside Lynne, Petty, Dhani Harrison, and Prince. The guy has skills, period.

  • Well I'm sure Rihanna does that sometimes but she's a pretty good musician.

  • Rosie Vela is so hot.

  • the music back then was so good. It was all live and not computer generated. The voices were real and genuine. But I still love Rihanna. WOOF !

  • @ahfaxthis Rihanna SUCKS

  • @dkkoover WHA WHA WHAT? SHE does not suck. She's very talented with a great personality. And she's DRUG FREE - as far as we know. She had 10 top 40 hits in 2010. but I know, in the end you will say SHE SUCKS. Free speech. I think you are missing out my son ! Bless you for your comment. Good or bad, it's still a comment and appreciated. YOU SUCK ! just kidding :)

  • Is this the concert they showed on PBS years ago??

  • wow this sounds even better than the original

  • Did anyone notice that Rosie is wearing two different dresses? Check out the short one at the 2:47 mark vs. the long you see throughout.

  • @ShaneW1955 Holy shit, I think you are right... WTF?

  • @ShaneW1955 I think it might just be the reflection off of the piano....looks like her legs in the reflection.....I wish I really COULD see her legs......she was on the cover of Vogue magazine around 5 times I believe, she is stunning.

  • @ShaneW1955 Dam, you are right!!

  • @ShaneW1955 lol, it's a really weird light reflection from the piano

  • when you where gone,I turned to stone.Lets Rock with ELO some more.

  • what accent is this? irish?

  • @Fabsun Birmingham, England.

  • @doktorotter ............shard end,birmingham,england.

  • @BETHYLOU30 Excellent, thank you!

  • What a sausage fest in the audiance.

  • Whos the drummer ? He's good

  • 7 people need to turn to stone.....just saying.....

  • I can remember grooving to this song riding around in car's.........

  • @digenovafilm....He is Richard Tandy one of the original founding members of the group.

  • Brilliant!! Jeff Lynne rocks!

  • Watch him jam her on the fast pick, incredible! And she knew it with her hand wave!

  • luxus... nema chybu!!!! podle mne...

  • the girl name is?

  • @vyd123 Rosie Vela

  • i likie the guy with spectacles on the synthesizer

  • Looks like the big delays are finally over regarding Jeff Lynne's new solo record. BARRING ANY OTHER DELAYS, we should have something this fall.

  • superb, just superb!

  • underrated

  • man, he is rockin that jewfro, love it, haha

  • My God!!! Whos the drop dead gorgeous singer next to Jeff?... Her dancing mesmorises me..... Whooooo!!

  • You know.... I spent years worshiping Jeff. But he never gave credit to his original band mates. Maybe Richard Tandy, that's it. And him giving his wife/gf stage time here reeks of Yoko Ono syndrome. His REAL right hand man, Kelly Groucutt, died a couple of years ago, and he didn't even make a statement about it. I still love Jeff Lynne, complete musical genius, but have lost respect for him as a person over the years.

  • @lonstar70 I am right there with you, Kelly was such a great part of the band, Jeff never gave him any credit, but Kelly did make a great contribution the ELO, despite Jeff calling him "just an employee" he was so wrong.. Kelly was fantastic, vocally and especially his bass playing

  • ELO son lo más grande en la historia del ROCK CLASICO

  • I usually dont like live performances, because you get so used to the original recorded song- so when you hear/see it, it's not the same. Not with this and other performances by ELO (Jeff Lynn) Holy crap, it's better than the original! I love how ELO songs can instantly transport me back to my high school days.....

  • @kkrankie I still think this is one of the poorer versions of Turn to Stone because of the lack of string instruments for the bits between the singing. Don't get me wrong I love this song, video and version!!

  • 6 people turned to stone.

  • Great song from the 70s

  • 3:18 if that aint a genious then i don't know what a genious is. i mean the euphoric guy.

  • I'm not old enough to have heard it at the time it came out. But I discovered it as a late teenager and immediately became an absolute fan. Just put his Armchair Theatre on my iPod, and yes, what a voice, what a music. Lynn rules!

  • I love these guys! This is one of the best Live sounds I've seen on this site. Second only to Springsteen.

  • awesome

  • Thumbs up if you can't quite sing that fast part too good

  • what would be, when roy orbison would still be alive? which fantastic sound they would produce together! they did already with the willbury-sound. but turn the stone, sung by orbison would be great. ELO and Lynn are one of the biggest historymaker in music of modern times. togehter with queen and the bee gees. you*ll never feel alone when you hear and understand the song and the music from these masters of rocking notes!!!

  • Even better live! Whats funny is watching the chick trying to dance to this and all the other songs! lol

  • magari kacia :D

  • i absolutly love this group.......bloody fantastic music!

  • Jeff Lynne is such a unique songwriter...easily one of the more innovative from the 70's. Rosie is beautiful by the way.

  • WOW from the lead and harmony vocals to the true ELO musical sound. AWESOME.

  • i may only be 13 but i love these guys

  • I freaking love Elo!!! this is the coolest version of the song.

  • Proper music!

  • I like that little smile he has @ 2:12. He's thinking... yep I nailed that tough part and I'm a bad ass.

  • @simplygu big time, i noticed that too and then read your post

  • @simplygu That smile he has @ 2.12 dude is no wear near bad ass, its Fucking kick ass. lets Rock....@_@

  • Without Kelly's unique backing vocal, this version sounds weak.

  • @Chriskkboongg Unfortunately, classic lineup ELO bass player Kelly Groucutt passed away in 2009. I liked Kelly a lot but can't take my eyes off Rosie Vela. Besides Jeff Lynne (of course), Richard Tandy was the only classic era member of ELO to play at this concert. The classic lineup of ELO was Jeff Lynne, Bev Bevan, Richard Tandy, Louis Clark, Kelly Groucutt, Mik Kaminski, Hugh McDowell and Melvyn Gale. They don't get nearly enough credit.

  • @Jefgg hard to believe Rosie was born in 1952!

  • @Chriskkboongg are you on drugs man, go see doctor beat a.s.a.p and let us know how you get on .

  • one of the best groups of all time

  • Jeff Lynne is the coolest, baddest mutha in music. He and ELO rocked their balls off at their Out of the Blue concert. I'll never forget their show and Kelly Groucutt tearing it up right in front of me. I love and miss you; RIP Kelly.

  • @stinkypants10 Yesss Righton ;P

  • Jeff Lynne is at a bar every other day a couple minutes away from my house. He's friends with my brother's friend's dad, who owns the bar. I'm not 21 yet, I want to meet him so fucking bad. He's just 3 miles away!!!

  • @JohnLennon9091 It's the age of 18 to drink and you can go to a bar at any age

  • @JohnLennon9091 not in america :( haha.

  • @JohnLennon9091

Go Get him and tell him regards from me...

  • @norgedidi If I get to see him, I will make sure to! ;)

  • That what I read on the ELO discovery web site. Their is a lot of cool info and videos to watch also. Check it out!!!

  • NEW JEFF LYNNE ALBUM OUT IN JUNE 2011 YESSSS!!!!!

  • @ELOSHAZZY

    really?!

  • That chick is HOT...the drummer ROCKS...and Jeff is a God. - I love this song !

  • @MegaSkills9...yep-Rosie Vela...and as I keep sayin' she dances like a mermaid!

  • 5 people turned to stone

  • Absolute Brilliance...

  • one word magic

  • Man such a genius. Music just isnt what it used to be !!

  • and Rosie still dances like a mermaid!

  • anyone nows from wich Year this Conzert is ?

  • @KptHirni - 2001

  • What a thumpin' good bit of music this still is, from the genius Jeff (and with the added bonus/eye-candy of Rosie Vela). I love the bit at 2:01 where Rosie smiles in anticipation a few seconds before she has to launch into one the toughest lyrical tongue-twisters in rock ...followed by Jeff grinning at the fact that he can still pull it off 24 years later when they did this tour. I better get the DVD and watch it all - cheers for posting.

  • @Frayxius i can tell you you will not be disapointed the DVD is amazing.

  • @crisp2882 I just got it today ...and you were right

  • @Frayxius eye candy?

  • @unoalice100 ummm... are you querying what "eye candy" means (which I can't imagine in this day and age of internet search engines anyone would actually ask!) or are you querying why I would term the delightful Rosie Vela as eye candy? ..that too is a odd question.

  • @Frayxius just disrespectful to a talented young lady who ended up on stage with Jeff

  • @unoalice100 Are you Rosie's agent or something? She is considerably talented.. and I'm sure she'd be most flattered by you calling her "young" when she'll be 57 next birthday.

  • @Frayxius how would you know that?

  • @adamstakeonlife how would I know what?

  • @Frayxius age

  • @Frayxius You nailed it, I love that part of the video too, where she flashes that great smile, and they both seem to be really enjoying singing that part.

  • God dammit...I must seek out the Rosie Vela "Zoom" tour dvd.....so stylishly hot!...songs are coool too.

  • Anyone who saw this concert, spare me the agony of telling me how good it was.. cuz I was not there!

  • 2.04-2.11 F^%*KIN MAGIC! That just put all of todays Rappers to bed! lol

"Yes I'm turning to stone cause you aint coming home, why aint you comin home if i'm turning stone, you've been gone for so long, and I can't carry on, yes i'm turning, i'm turning, i'm turning to stone!"

  • THIS is Music - not rap or hip-hop !

  • ......dances like a mermaid & sings like an angel and I ain't talkin' about Jeff!

  • The boy is a genius.

  • JL is smiling at 2:14 because he's happy that everybody got through the tongue twister between 2:05-2:11 without making it sound like that "McDonald's menu song" from the 80's

  • Theres more emotion in the way he sings "...in my blue world..." than in a year of today's music.

  • Wow.

  • Five people are made of stone!
