Okay, I worked at the Anime Convention 4 years(2004-7) & there's 5 that stick in my mind:

1.) Sailor Moon. She was perfect! That was in Valencia, CA '04

2.) Sephiroth. Spot on with the FFVII: AC version. Also in Valencia, CA. '04

3.) Optimus Prime. The man's costume changed right before us from the robot into a vehicle! Valencia '04

4.) Felicia from Darkstalkers. Beauty! Lancaster, CA '05

5.) John Talbain (at first I thought he was the Con mascot). Awesomest Cosplayer ever! Lancaster '05

This kinda relaxed me a bit! I'm trying to cosplay this year and I'm not a toothpick kinda skinny...I have alot of curves. Made me glad to think other people aren't all "If your not asian or skinny or young enough, you can't cosplay." I just want to because it looks fun, not based on how good I look. i agree that there are some bad criticism out there hating American cosplayers and It's not nice to point out ppl for that. But it is very apparent that Asian..or pretty much Japanese ppl do "tend" to cosplay in a more professional manner and the result is better. It's mostly due to the fact that Japanese eat healthier than most Americans along with of their skin tones hair and what not that goes with most animes. Japanese also have really good work ethic. One that Americans lack time to time.

@yangamee Japanese people can easily buy amazing cosplay costumes in Japan, when Americans make their own costume or order them online. Some of these American cosplayers know they dont have the best or authentic looking costume. but you know what? they dont care what people think about them. They love anime just like Japanese people do. :)

Anime originated in Asia (Japan precisely), but white people can get away with cosplay.

Afro Samurai is all about a black samurai. Utena features a very dark skinned female, and the list goes on, so before you put down another race, get the facts straight.

besides, many characters in MangAnime are westerners, so the westerners fit smoothly into cosplaying. Many of the japanese people are so frantic about "We must be if not better, same as the westerners".. Asian has it's uniqueness, so why they bother to westernized themselves?

I love you for saying that people use heavily photo shopped cosplays to prove that Japanese cosplayers are better than American, Uk, Italian etc cosplayers. So so many people seem to think that all these flawless Japanese people are actually like that in real life when if you look closely you can see they have been shopped.
