Carlos Santana is the same as Eric Clapton. Both have longevity in rock/pop. Because of this, many regard them as "Master" guitarists. The truth is, both Santana and Clapton are adequate rock guitarists at best.

Or better yet, search for Jungle Strut or Touisant L'overture.
This, in my opinion, is the best album ever made, sans none.
wow look how fucking good music used to be, I wish I lived back then. But aren't I lucky, I get to spend 8 hours in a highschool filled with a bunch stupid fuckers yelling the lyrics to soulja boy everday! fuck me!
You guys are insane to say that carlos santana is an average rock guitarist. insane. Do you have any clue how much acid he was on while playing at woodstock? In an interview he said that his guitar felt like a snake, and yet he still just wails away like its nothing. Show some respect.
On what grounds do you guys evaluate guitarists to say they are just adequate?? I remember many lightning fast all about technique dudes who are forgotten now and could never express with 1000 notes what Santana or Clapton can say with 3

Technically, yeah. They're 'adequate.' But they (and others) pioneered so many new things. They built the steps that modern guitarists walk up with relative ease.
If anything I'd say their longevity has decreased their status as legends. After the 60's and some of the 70's, both their music lost it's raw creative energy, and they (especially santana) fell into formulaic ruts. Real rock legends die young and save themselves the shame (lol)
I met Mike in 2000, he was lending his house for a shoot that I was in and he was such a cool dude, yet a little fucked up overall. He lives in Marin County, Bay Area. Cool fuckiong dude, though. We smoked a blunt together.
They ALL poured their souls into this one performance--Carlos Santana, the anonymous bongo drum players and especially their drummer Michael Shrieve who was very young then. This video just exorcises the rock demons in me -- i swear.
he said early on they were a blues band, and started hangin out in the park where a drum circle played regularly,,,they noticed girls moved ther hips to the drums so they added it in to the band, also, he said he was on acid during this tune at woodstock...
yes. santana was on acid (lsd). i saw a documentary yesterday about his biography.he said that he was praying to god for dont do a bad performance due the acid and it was.
he was on lsd he admits it on tv later in his career.....i think that video's on youtube its partof some interview so look it up if u feel like it but yeah... he''s on lsd the whole time
Richie Havens - freedom Janis Joplin - Try --dont know that one-- jeffersons airplane - White Rabbit than you hear Country Joe with give me a u... Arlo Guthrie - walking down the line Canned Heat - Goin' Up The Country --dont know that one--- --dont know that one--- --dont know that one--- joan baez - sweet sir galahad Jimi Hendrix with some improvisation this is what i could find for ya
i love the story about how santana was tripping on acid and it was hard for him to play because he said he thought his guitar was turning into a snake or something. I'm not sure if its true but its interesting.
that little drummer guy was fine... what happened to his cute litlle but?
