I lived in Otttawa back in 1979 and I believe this game was blacked out. It also happened on the same day of the Mississauga train explosion.

I miss the days of football in Ottawa and grass fields. Today the CFL might as well stand for the Canadian Fieldturf League since every teams plays on fake grass.

If Ottawa can come up with a Modern Stadium they'll have a CFL Franchise again. Its a shame that Canada doesn't have a CFL team in their Capital.

Man I miss the old CFL! Grew up watching these guys at Lansdowne and it brought back a lot of fond memories for sure. Love the old Rider Black uniforms. Had a Tony Gabriel one myself back in the day.

Ah, this was when the CFL was great! Love those old Ottawa jerseys. I cringed when they changed them in the 90s. Actually, the 90s was a time when the CFL lost its soul completely. The game has never been the same. It used to be the greatest game!

Actually those are the ones I was very used to seeing compared to what they have now. Personally the throwbacks are better

I prefer the Current Tiger Cat Uniforms they look a little like Steeler Uniforms.

Nah...I prefer the old TiCat uniforms. They look like Ti-Cat uniforms. I don't care about the CFL lookng like the NFL.

Id like to see the teams go back to a more classi style uniform period...these new designs are just too trendy and stylized...I loved the simple uniforms and helmet logos of the 70's(Mtls Green,red&white,Calgary's basic Red&White and the grey away pants,BC's Back&Orange with black helmets,all the uniforms were better back then.

In 1980 Ottawa had a record of 5-11 and made it to the Grey Cup & loss to Edmonton 23-20. But they won the respect of the Eskinmo players.

It was actually 1981 and they lost 26-23. They went 7-9 in 1980 before losing 25-21 in the Eastern Semi-Final to Montreal.

I like it better when they take all the snaps behind the centre instead of in the shotgun, which is how most CFL plays are run these days.

The Eastern Riders went 8-6-2 that year, it would be the last time any Ottawa team (Riders & Renegades) would have a winning season.

The other thing is WR's used to wear #'s in the 70's, up til about the late 80's.

And the Rough Riders did not use any #'s above #79 until 1984. Officailly they started using 80 and up in 1987
