I know you are probably professionals and you do this a LOT, but from everything I have read if the Koi does not calm down and freely let you pick them up within the first 10 secs you need to stop trying or have someone else try, it stresses them out too much. My koi freely and willingly swam into my hands, let me pick them up out of water, pet them, and place them back in without doing a tail flip even once......
