  • 0:00 repeat the awesomeness

  • This is the only one of Kon's films in which I prefer the dub to the original, I just love Konikawa's dub voice, it's much warmer =)

  • i hear it often but i have no trouble reading subtitles and watching at the same time, so i often watch the original over the dubbed

  • Do you recognise the movies scenes ?... After Tarzan you have the scene in the Train, which is from From Russia with Love.

But the scene where Paprika hits a guy with a guitar, I don't know where it comes from...

  • THIS IS SO FREAKiNg c00L=> waTcheD it 10tymZ aLready;)

  • It's funny how at the end of Paprika, you can see the woman's massive TITTIES!

  • Dude. This is soo cool. I'd watch it again in English just to see how well they did :3 Though I agree I do prefer the Japanese one. However I go on the basis of which one I see first. If I've seen it first in English then I'll prefer that and vice versa. :)

  • Americans and other english speaking countries are always lazy at reading subtitles, I think that is the reason they watch only american movies/series. I do always prefer the original, in special because there are cultures where voice inflections are part of their acting, that is not easy to spot in dubbed movies, specially japanese ones.

  • PAPRIKA.....The original Inception :P

  • The English version is actually pretty good. I wasn't too happy with Atsuko's voices though. Other than that it was great.

  • Okay virgins, you can stare at the subs while I watch the movie.

  • its like a japanese inception XD

  • @xakatsukirikux well, the director of inception did say he was influenced by this film...

  • @hetaliafan2159 ah i never knew :D thanks~

  • @xakatsukirikux no problem. :)

  • This movie is Gold, even in English dubbed version. It seems the English actors put a lot of effort into this anime.

  • @marshall9doom It's strange, I prefer subs in all of Kon's work besides this movie, I really like the dub, it's so well put together.

  • Alight. . . It's got the cute theme song, the cute heroine and everything. Maybe that's pleasant for a few minnutes. But why is the rest of this movie so scary? And why this cop stuff about surveillance, and the cop guy? Hmm? Can't they make an interesting, artistic movie without all this? Too many of these anime movies have misogynistic scenes, too. It all becomes a lil weird.

  • @aquietevening well it's based on a novel by the same name, you wouldn't really take away all of what the story is about? This is an interesting and artistic movie and story, dude. (since the dream, psychotherapy, crime stuff where all in the original novel)

  • The part where she hits the guy over the head with the guitar comes from Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck. Audrey won the Oscar for her role.

  • IT'S THE GREATEST SHOWTIME!

  • I love that one for satoshi kon

  • Stoshi Kon worked with the original 11 on Patlabor films ! say no more!

  • I love this movie with fiery passion, also I prefer the original Japanese cast in this film... something magical when you watch a foreign film, even more so in it's native language.

RIP Satoshi Kon Sama, your imaginative descents into madness will never be forgotten. Thank you for posting this clip!

  • This thing has some of the most beautiful animation sequences ever, it's sooo damn awesome!!

Although the story was weird and I was just all confused towards the end. hahaha

  • While the sub gives you the meat of the true language of the original, Paprika just way too much eye candy to be looking at the subs. It distracts from the movie experience. Best to view the movie dubbed, then subbed to get the best of both worlds.

  • Is this Inception?

  • @CarlosJulio20 - Chris Nolan has gone on record to say that this movie did inspire his work on Inception.

  • The Japanese version with the English subtitles is better than the English dubbed version because the voices and characters look and sound more authentic that way.

  • dubbed versions ruin the film

  • No wonder thsi film earned a 4 star review in the paper. It's that good. ^_^

  • there is nothing wrong with english dubs, the only problem i have against it is when they are trying to translate verbs in a manor of speak that makes it sound retarded.

  • It's funny.... everyone says that they choose Japanese over English just because of the voices... but I like Eng better because in Jap you have to read the subs and I never really get to see what's going on in the animation..... just staring at subs.... the whole movie..... lol

  • I agree, but I do usualy watch with subtiles to try and learn the language, dosn't work well though

  • At first you may have to watch things twice. Then it'll be automatic, you'll be a certified European, and the world's your oyster:)

  • @AnimeLover51013 100% this

  • @AnimeLover51013

But english dubs are always missing words or have them changed. Like in Macross Plus, Isamu's 'Terasaur Lift' is actually much longer and flaky sounding.

  • @Mikemc English dubbing tries to keep the script %90 accurate but things can get "lost in translation". It's either because the mouth flaps of the character don't match the translated dialouge or certain meanings can only be understood by Japanese viewers, so they have to tweak it a little so the English speakers can understand. But you should know, subbing is not very accurate either.

  • @AnimeLover51013 Which means you don't know how to read subtitles properly. It should flow naturally.

  • @AnimeLover51013 that's why I personally like the dub more...as an English speaker. The animation is just too good for my eyes to read subtitles. :D

  • Cool! Can't wait to see it!

  • woah trippy

  • A "dubbed version" on the title would have been nice. ¬_¬

  • omg this is trippy.

  • omg ive got to watch it again this so cool

  • It's much better in Japanese.

  • i love this movie so much! thank you for putting this on here!

  • odd movie, just watched it. liked it tho. any one know the music playing int the backround in the begining?

  • Tarzan, James Bond, Roman Holiday. Loved the dreams

  • Where did you get the dubbed version?

  • Blockbuster=)

  • ima go rent it now! thankies!

  • Oh Pls! You haven't watched the whole movie.

  • I do. Actually, mom watched it and so do I

  • Gotta love the Roman Holiday reference!

I wanna see this movie so bad!
