False. Freedom is only popular among the elites (thank goodness) who run the country. To the masses freedom means a welfare check or an indirect subsidy.
freedom is popular amongst every class including the lower class in america. the main reason ron paul isnt popular is because the corporations who own the media are against ron paul. so from the start ron paul was labeled as a fringe candidate, most people dont waste their time supporting fringe candidates.
While you might love to make such abstract claims about "freedom" and its "popularity," unfortunately most of human history shows those two words don't go with each other very well.
Fortunately, it's not up to the masses to decide whether we have freedom since we have a binding constitution and (more importantly) preserved the culture of somewhat respecting that constitution (even though 99.9% of America hasn't even read the Constitution including probably you).
Having a fixed money supply (gold standard) results in deflation because of population increase. Milton Friedman was right that inflation is solely caused by an increase in the money supply, but when population increases, there is higher demand for money. Since there is no increase in supply, price levels are disrupted, which hurts the economy.
I may only be repeating what I know from zeitgeist; In the case of the country, decentralizing the economy and removing the debt attached to each dollar will do far more good than worrying about the value of your ore based on population growth. Removing the control from a small but powerful group of families and into the hands of a passionate, responsible government will stem nonsensical wars, serve the public interest, and many more benefits.
"Removing the control from a small but powerful group of families and into the hands of a passionate, responsible government will stem nonsensical wars, serve the public interest, and many more benefits."
So abolishing the federal reserve will make the CIA find better informants?
Today's the day to express our thanks to Ron Paul! He has asked us for our help NOW and his campaign has said that the Dec 16 Tea Party will be too late to impact the crucial early primaries. Money is needed NOW! I just donated my $100 and I know that we can "stuff" Dr. Paul's campaign with cash today if we all give what we can! Let's show the "turkeys" who don't believe that Dr. Paul can win that we are not taking a day off! The fight for liberty continues! Donate Today & help post this!
As a stout supporter of Ron Paul, I am curious as to when He becomes prez, taking over the junk that has been apparent and will rise concerning our economics, will He be a target as the cause (as we didn't get him in office soon enough) I hope that we understand implementing a new type of thinking takes some time. Ron Paul for President!
Ron, I love ya man but if you must "study monetary theory", you must know that optimal inflation is strictly positive. The Fed has finally earned the credibility to anchor long-term inflation expectations. The success of the Fed explains why the two most recent recessions have been the mildest in history. Liquidity is central to the efficacy of economic outcomes (see the frontier of economic research).
The Federal Reserve shouldnt exist because unconstitutional! The recent recessions were not weak if you lived in the midwest. They had record rates cuts all while they were printing billions of dollars to recirculate. In FL, CA & NY the economy showed little recess because thats where all the business & population are, but everyone else has suffered. Paul isnt that far off and should be commended for bringing monetary issues to the public's eye instead of pretending the problems dont exist.
Unconstitutional? That is a profound statement. The Federal Reserve Act was established by Congress in 1913. The Midwest suffered disproportionately because that is the center of the manufacturing base (outsourcing is another topic, but economists will tell you while some do suffer, the macroeconomy as a whole gain). If you want a double-digit nominal rate, then look to the double-recession in the 80s.
You believe in a free market system, right? Then if central banks ought not to exist, why have all industrialed countries established one, and why is the Fed considred without question the leading such institution? Much of the frontier of monetary theory came from the Fed's pioneering research team.
If you think other countries look up to us for our monetary system you need to travel more. You do have valid points about the economy but just because Congress voted the reserve into existance hardly makes it right! The FED continually borrows from China to pay for debt and they do it w/out having the gold/silver in reserve as collateral. Hence..INFLATION! At the end of the day its all bad for the US economy. Common sense man, dont overthink this.
Amen Ron Paul...I can't think of anything else to say. He's preaching the Gospel that will set this country free. Why the hell doesn't this country listen to this guy?!?!
its great to see someone actually recognizing the problems that this country faces. all you hear from mitt and rudy is "keeping your head up" or whatever crap they keep feeding us. ron paul actually has solutions that END the ridiculous direction that our country is heading.
Al Qaeda is nothing more than an extension of the operatus linked to U.S. intelligence that was allowed, by script, to remove itself as a rogue break away entity of the U.S. government; allowed to de-compartmentalize from oversight,
haha... Ron Paul has articulable "real" facts to back up everything he says, and Rudys only retort is 9-11, and laughter. what a disgrace... using 9-11 as a catalyst to promote his campaign.
I don't want to hear a damn thing from Paul supporters about campaign financing, Ron Paul has taken money from Don Black, founder of Stormfront, a leading white-supremacist group.
Can guiliani get through one debate or interview without mentioning September 11th? Yes RUDE-y, we know you were governor when it happened... but stop playing the Emotions Card and just get on with sucking as a candidate.

Guliani needs to shut that big pie-hole in his face...how much longer is he going to play the 9/11 card!!! He is a complete asshole!!! He deamned all the un-recoverd fireman and dead on 9/11.

Part of the reason they don't waste their valuable debate time refuting Ron Paul is because he is such a wacko and so out there that he doesn't pose any real threat. He's not a true Republican - maybe he would have been before the parties switched polls post-Nixon - but not today. He's a Dem wearing Rep - I call him Mr. Blue.
he's a wacko and out there? he's the only one who is obeying and supporting the constitution. so you believe that the grounds on which you country was built are "wacko"? without him you'd be choosing between bad and worse. and so what is he's a republican/democrat/liberal. you need to pay less attention to labels and more attention to the actual person's message. who are you voting for anyway?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Actually, he is the only one who is abandoning the constitution. He is the one who is trying to revert the country to the Articles of Confederation, to a terribly weak and useless Federal Government. I'll be honest - if I had to choose between Ron Paul and the Dems, I'm choosing the Dems. Thankfullly, that isn't going to be who I'll be choosing between, as well as the rest of the nation.
I do agree with you that the articles of confederation were a weak form of government, but thats the only correct fact you used in your comment. 1st of all, the articles of confederation had the state government above the national government, and not once has Ron Paul said that he wanted to give all of the government power to the states.
he abandons the constitution yet brings it up at every debate and interview and talks about how his leadership will stick to it. he's not making the federal government useless either - he's giving the power to local governments so you don't have to be told - along with the rest of america - what to do. this guy has NO flaws. who are you voting for??? i want to hear about your perfect candidate.
How the hell is he abandoning the constitution? He's one of the greatest supporter of the constitution and it shows in all his votes. As far as states go, he's really just believes in letting states handle some hard social issues for themselves.
lmao! Guiliani tries to spew his 9/11 propaganda again, interrupting Ron Paul. Guiliani, I have only have one comment for you - stfu! Nobody cares what you say.
I'm compiling a list of thousands of Ron Paul supporters in order to send weekly donations of $25 or more at the exact same time. If 20,000 supporters all sent $25 or more at the exact same minute, that would be at least $500,000. We'll creat a stir and show the country our grassroots power. To join, send an e-mail to:
RonPaulMoneyBomb @ yahoo . com
I'll reply to everyone with an exact time every week.
rudi is such a retard. "but i was there on 9/11. 9/11 9/11 9/11. hey everybody what were you guys doing on 911? do you know where i was? did i mention 9/11?" - and he's clearly under the belief that the guys who did that were the leaders of saudi. my god he's stupid! if an american kills a bunch of people in another country, he's no inciting a war.
He doesn't think that - he just knows that Saudi money & Saudi citizens have a long history of sponsoring terror. That's what someone who has done their homework would know - not listening to the lying tongues of Muslims who won't be honest about the Muslim religion and what it teaches.
but he clearly misunderstood ron paul. ron paul was talking about an imminent attack from another country, not a bunch of guys who were from another country. rudi has played the 9/11 card too many times. and trust me - i've done more than my fair share of homework. what's the connection between the saudi's and iraq?
The error in Ron Paul's thinking -as well as the Western World - is separating Muslim nations from the unified center of Jihadic Expansionism in Islam (Read "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam" to have this laid out clearer). As to connections pre-Iraq war, one only need note that Sadaam's regime sponsored terrorist groups such as Hizbollah & Hamas, who in turned sponsored others like Al Quaida. That's just one small example.
nothing sounds fairer than a book called "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam" - and as ron paul has said so many times - there was no al quaida in iraq before the US showed up.
Actually, if you read the book, and studied Islam with an open mind, you'd know it was fair and accurate. I must also note that RP's statement - that there was no Al Quaida in Iraq before the US showed up - is a half-truth. It is true they weren't openly there, but they were given safe haven on multiple occasions for their plotting and planning, just as in Afghanistan. Yes, the Taliban were more in league with AQ, but Sadaam was far from their a hostile force against them.
i have a completely open mind to the muslim religeon. the current american government victimises them and i'm happy to defend it. rather than look at the hijackers as people, they have to label them - they were saudi's, they were muslim. why can't a killer be a killer over there. its not like everyone is an ambassador for the beliefs of their nation/religion.
Al Qaeda is nothing more than an extension of the operatus linked to U.S. intelligence that was allowed, by script, to remove itself as a rogue break away entity of the U.S. government; allowed to de-compartmentalize from oversight,
Dude lay off the heavy shit, get to a treatment center and get a new brain, yours was fried a long time ago! My God where the hell do you fucking morons come from?
No, Hebollah is a massive terrorist group. First, they did not begin for the purposes of overthrowing Israel, but the Lebanese government. Israel's incursions were a RESPONSE to the terrorism of Hezbollah and their allies, groups that overthrew the legitimate democratic Lebanese government. Furthermore, the mission of Hezbollah is not just the overthrow of the Israeli government, but also the United States. Check out their website if you don't believe me.
and also osama binladin said that the best way to attack america is to drain us from the inside out. to drain our economy through war. will we, the voters let this come true. its up to you america. defend your home.
Ron Paul knows what he is talking about. he is confident and intelligent. this country has been very sucessful so far thanks to the constitution. we need to continue looking to the constitution if we hope to enjoy continued sucess. VOTE 2008!
VOTE RON PAUL in the upcoming primaries! Please help spread the word that people who are already registered must change their party affiliation by these dates if they want to vote for Ron Paul in the primaries. (which is very important in order for ron Paul to be on the ballot in november) New voters can register and vote up until and including the day of the primaries.
That last responce was exactly what ive been saying to "con servatives" for awhile now. if you voted for Bush in 200 and don't support Ron Paul you either didn't know who you were voting for then or you are no longer a conservative
But... but... 9-11! Saddam Hussein will rise as a terrorist zombie and put a nuke in my pants unless I vote for Rudy or Thompson!
... the scary part? That's what I honestly think some people believe... I mean, Huckabee is pro-war... but the other neocons abandoned him because he believes diplomacy is a good idea and only congress should declare war. This is seriously the state of the Republican party.
CNBC's response of why they took down the results of the winner of this debate, that Ron Paul won. In other words, it wasn't a candidate they personally thought should have won. Disgraceful. I would email them and tell them that you are boycotting their network and website.
Until all of us who are educated to the biases of mainstream media, start talking to our parents, families, and friends ... waking people up ... primarily the older generation who only watch mainstream media for the news, then we will simply go down the path we've always had, and the media will essentially continue choosing our next President for us. We have to do our part and educate others and we have to do it now. There's no way around it.
We have supported the war from the beginning, and the person was right who said even if you don't agree with Ron Paul on all the issues, we are still voting for him. He's the best man for the job. If you're gonna withdraw from Iraq, at least do it quickly, and don't leave any troops hanging. Might be the only thing to kick the Iraqis in the butt to take the reins of their own country.
Ron Paul is the only candidate from either party who actually speaks with substance. All the others use campaign slogans, generalities and platitudes. Its a look pretty presidential race and who has the msot money but most of all, who the media has chosen for us. I say, even if you disagree with Ron Paul on 40%-50% of the issues, you should cast your vote for him because at least he's honest, intelligent and isn't in the pocket of special interests.
To add to your point, they actually, believe it or not, did a feature on CNN yesterday about the type of footwear Hillary Clinton wears when campaigning and how it helps her image.
Nonsense Matt, we've occupied many of those nations for decades and we have faced no retaliation from them. We have to remain a presence in the Middle East especially so we can stop them on their ground before they would try to come here again. It's better to fight'em over there, than face another possible 9/11 over here.
i as a muslim and arab can tell all the americans that they have the responsibility for their nation and they should vote for peace. greedy capitalist, zionistic necons, pentagon and dollar worshipper which think they own this planet will lose for 100%.
Here's the thing, if you occupy a country, what is stopping attacks on the homeland? From OTHER country's even? If we mind our own damn business and focus on our own set of problems, we wouldn't need to worry about the middle east.

Ron Paul is a good guy, but in these times we need a President that knows how to fight the war on Terror. I believe Bush and Cheney don't get the respect and credit they deserve at all. They have taken controversial stands yes, but they have kept America safe for the past 6 years. Thank God Bush won in 2004, who knows what we may of faced with Kerry as President.
Apparently we were safe before Bush was in office too. To give bush credit for nothing happening is a cop out, that could have happened anyway. IF they had done their job 9/11 wouldn't have happened either.
USMC, thanks for speaking maturely. I hope people show you the respect you deserve. However, things were different during those decades. There was a mutual enemy in the Soviet Union (if you look at it, we even helped the Taliban come to power during the USSR invasion of Afghanistan in the 80s). Saddam was our ally against the Iranians. We helped both of the people we fought come to power. That has ramifications.
Dillon: That's BS, Bush has nothing but respect and supports us 100%. In fact, I've never seen a President so supportive of the military since probably Reagan. No one gets sent back unless they are medically cleared to do so. Don't spread lies, I'm in the Military and a veteran of OIF.
exile: that is only a half truth. He leads in military campaign contributions, that doesn't mean he has the majority of the military's support, not even close. Furthermore, all military personal are included in those campaign figures, so that doesn't represent just those who are active duty. If someone served 30 years for 4 months, they could still be counted.
In the state of Arizona you have 30 days prior to the Primaries to register or change to REPUBLICAN to vote for Ron Paul. Make sure you get it done early, like the end of december! go to servicearizona dot com Thank you!
It will be nice if, sometime in my lifetime, the political parties (if they need to exist at all) will let more intelligent people with integrity in, and the media won't convince us all from the very beginning of the campaign season that they're just irrelevant footnotes.
i am a democratic voter. But I must say that this is what America has lost. Critical thinkers and individual thinking. Maybe people will undertstand that neither Republicans or Democrates are in control of this country and that there is a new (secret) party called NEOCONS and they have nothing to with us!
How much money would the Ron Paul campaign have if we reached one million freedom loving, constitution defending americans and convinced each of them to give $100 to the campaign. GIVE $100 at ronpaul2008
Lets get more views on this version. The other has 29,000 views, but is missing 2-3 minutes of what I believe was Ron Paul's first response about hedge funds, monetary policy, and the inflation tax.
That goes to the CNBC poll that was removed from the net shorty after it went up... I guess they didnt want the world to see yet another Ron Paul victory... that would go against their message. Something look fishy to anyone else!?!?
I just seem to wonder if America is tryin to run us broke on purpose, for a global purpose of economics to where middle class and down are broke to where they have to rely on the government for a solution, which would enable the global elites to offer their "solution" for global currency and world government. Its happening incrementally, and it's way more deep than that.
I don't know if he answered the first question about hedge-funds properly or went off tangent. It also seems that he was really beating into people this idea of foreign policy all night.
On another note, glad he did take Guiliani's crap again and put him in his spot. :D
That is the third time I have heard a reporter ask Dr. Paul who he will vote for. He's running for President!!!!!!!!!!! He is running to Win! The media is getting worried about Dr. Paul.
So if you people can donate just 10 bucks to the campaign that would show Dr. Ron Paul your support in numbers###### how many of us are there. Be counted be apart of HISTORY, WE THE PEOPLE,,,FOR THE PEOLE BY THE PEOPLE

Fortunately, it's not up to the masses to decide whether we have freedom since we have a binding constitution and (more importantly) preserved the culture of somewhat respecting that constitution (even though 99.9% of America hasn't even read the Constitution including probably you).

Abolishing the Federal Reserve:
Having a fixed money supply (gold standard) results in deflation because of population increase. Milton Friedman was right that inflation is solely caused by an increase in the money supply, but when population increases, there is higher demand for money. Since there is no increase in supply, price levels are disrupted, which hurts the economy.
Oh, and it's "you're" not "your", genius.
itslobo 4 years ago
I may only be repeating what I know from zeitgeist; In the case of the country, decentralizing the economy and removing the debt attached to each dollar will do far more good than worrying about the value of your ore based on population growth. Removing the control from a small but powerful group of families and into the hands of a passionate, responsible government will stem nonsensical wars, serve the public interest, and many more benefits.

Ron Paul for President!
talonkinkade 4 years ago
Ron, I love ya man but if you must "study monetary theory", you must know that optimal inflation is strictly positive. The Fed has finally earned the credibility to anchor long-term inflation expectations. The success of the Fed explains why the two most recent recessions have been the mildest in history. Liquidity is central to the efficacy of economic outcomes (see the frontier of economic research).
Petesburgh 4 years ago
The Federal Reserve shouldnt exist because unconstitutional! The recent recessions were not weak if you lived in the midwest. They had record rates cuts all while they were printing billions of dollars to recirculate. In FL, CA & NY the economy showed little recess because thats where all the business & population are, but everyone else has suffered. Paul isnt that far off and should be commended for bringing monetary issues to the public's eye instead of pretending the problems dont exist.
brown55061 4 years ago
Unconstitutional? That is a profound statement. The Federal Reserve Act was established by Congress in 1913. The Midwest suffered disproportionately because that is the center of the manufacturing base (outsourcing is another topic, but economists will tell you while some do suffer, the macroeconomy as a whole gain). If you want a double-digit nominal rate, then look to the double-recession in the 80s.
Petesburgh 4 years ago
You believe in a free market system, right? Then if central banks ought not to exist, why have all industrialed countries established one, and why is the Fed considred without question the leading such institution? Much of the frontier of monetary theory came from the Fed's pioneering research team.
Petesburgh 4 years ago
Wow, you're clueless.
ThatHawaiiGuy 4 years ago
If you think other countries look up to us for our monetary system you need to travel more. You do have valid points about the economy but just because Congress voted the reserve into existance hardly makes it right! The FED continually borrows from China to pay for debt and they do it w/out having the gold/silver in reserve as collateral. Hence..INFLATION! At the end of the day its all bad for the US economy. Common sense man, dont overthink this.

Blue.
ConfessionalLutheran 4 years ago
he's a wacko and out there? he's the only one who is obeying and supporting the constitution. so you believe that the grounds on which you country was built are "wacko"? without him you'd be choosing between bad and worse. and so what is he's a republican/democrat/liberal. you need to pay less attention to labels and more attention to the actual person's message. who are you voting for anyway?
gruzman 4 years ago 2
This comment has received too many negative votes show
Actually, he is the only one who is abandoning the constitution.
ConfessionalLutheran 4 years ago
I do agree with you that the articles of confederation were a weak form of government, but thats the only correct fact you used in your comment. 1st of all, the articles of confederation had the state government above the national government, and not once has Ron Paul said that he wanted to give all of the government power to the states.
zery08 4 years ago
he abandons the constitution yet brings it up at every debate and interview and talks about how his leadership will stick to it. he's not making the federal government useless either - he's giving the power to local governments so you don't have to be told - along with the rest of america - what to do. this guy has NO flaws. who are you voting for??? i want to hear about your perfect candidate.

"but i was there on 9/11. 9/11 9/11 9/11. hey everybody what were you guys doing on 911? do you know where i was? did i mention 9/11?" - and he's clearly under the belief that the guys who did that were the leaders of saudi. my god he's stupid! if an american kills a bunch of people in another country, he's no inciting a war.
gruzman 4 years ago
He doesn't think that - he just knows that Saudi money & Saudi citizens have a long history of sponsoring terror. That's what someone who has done their homework would know - not listening to the lying tongues of Muslims who won't be honest about the Muslim religion and what it teaches.
ConfessionalLutheran 4 years ago
but he clearly misunderstood ron paul. ron paul was talking about an imminent attack from another country, not a bunch of guys who were from another country. rudi has played the 9/11 card too many times. and trust me - i've done more than my fair share of homework. what's the connection between the saudi's and iraq?
gruzman 4 years ago 2
The error in Ron Paul's thinking -as well as the Western World - is separating Muslim nations from the unified center of Jihadic Expansionism in Islam (Read "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam" to have this laid out clearer). As to connections pre-Iraq war, one only need note that Sadaam's regime sponsored terrorist groups such as Hizbollah & Hamas, who in turned sponsored others like Al Quaida. That's just one small example.
ConfessionalLutheran 4 years ago
nothing sounds fairer than a book called "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam" - and as ron paul has said so many times - there was no al quaida in iraq before the US showed up.
gruzman 4 years ago
Actually, if you read the book, and studied Islam with an open mind, you'd know it was fair and accurate. I must also note that RP's statement - that there was no Al Quaida in Iraq before the US showed up - is a half-truth. It is true they weren't openly there, but they were given safe haven on multiple occasions for their plotting and planning, just as in Afghanistan. Yes, the Taliban were more in league with AQ, but Sadaam was far from their a hostile force against them.
ConfessionalLutheran 4 years ago
i have a completely open mind to the muslim religeon. the current american government victimises them and i'm happy to defend it. rather than look at the hijackers as people, they have to label them - they were saudi's, they were muslim. why can't a killer be a killer over there. its not like everyone is an ambassador for the beliefs of their nation/religion.

Read Bin Laden's 1996 fatwa. The reason for the jihadism and willingness of people to blow themselves up is because:
1. They see how many of their people died due to U.S. bombing and intervention in Iraq throughout the 90s.
2. Troops on the Arabian Peninsula, considered holy land to all Muslims.
3. Unquestioned support of Israeli far-right policy of settlement building and oppression of Palestinians.
Yes. It really is that simple. Imagine if China was doing that to us or Christians.

Ron Paul is a good guy, but in these times we need a President that knows how to fight the war on Terror. I believe Bush and Cheney don't get the respect and credit they deserve at all. They have taken controversial stands yes, but they have kept America safe for the past 6 years. Thank God Bush won in 2004, who knows what we may of faced with Kerry as President.
usmcdevildog83 4 years ago
Apparently we were safe before Bush was in office too. To give bush credit for nothing happening is a cop out, that could have happened anyway. IF they had done their job 9/11 wouldn't have happened either.
exile137 4 years ago
USMC, thanks for speaking maturely. I hope people show you the respect you deserve. However, things were different during those decades. There was a mutual enemy in the Soviet Union (if you look at it, we even helped the Taliban come to power during the USSR invasion of Afghanistan in the 80s). Saddam was our ally against the Iranians. We helped both of the people we fought come to power. That has ramifications.
