I recommend reading the manga after you watch the anime, as it follows the manga very closely, and you can continue where the anime left off. I just noticed, but the anime time-line must be fairly different from the manga. I mean, in the manga we get to see that Reo and Elliot first meet when they are 14. that's much older than they are in the scene with Reo peeking out from the door. That's really strange, actually.. =/

Acording to Jun's notes. She intended all there names to be English. Jun recently told her readers that she indeed intend for it to be Leo (Reo is just the closest the japanese could get because R's and L's read the same in Japanese) just like its supposed to be Sharon, not Shalon. if it was r's then it would be Reo and Erriot which sounds terrible so lets not even go there.

The subbing of the manga and the subbing of the anime were done by two different people/companies. The spelling and pronounciation differs from manga to anime, so that may also be something that caused it. Look at Princess Tutu (dont' judge the anime by it's name). The names changed 3 times because of all the controversy between the manga's translation (was it accurate?) and the pronounciation (Should we follow that, instead?) It probably happened here, too, and that's all.

Actually, one 'u' in Yuki makes it 'snow' and two 'u' makes it 'courage' so it's not so much preference there as what her name means...which you could probably tell by the kanji for it...eh..but I'm not that far in Japanese, yet. Anyway, about the names. Elliot and Eliot are just two ways of spelling the same name, so it doesn't matter. Reo vs. Leo on the other hand...technically it's Riio, written in romaji, but r's are always translated as l's in Jap. to Eng. translations. Plus, this series takes place in a European-esque world, so Leo makes more sense.

The Reo/Leo thing is because they don't differentiate between L and R in Japanese. That's why names like with R/L are almost always written in different names when written in Romanji,,

Well the answer to your question is because the japanese can't pronounce 'r' because it's not in their alphabet, so instead of that whatever is with 'r' they replace it with 'l' so for example, the name 'Roladine' they'll pronounce it 'Loradine'. They just get confused xD

it's the same with the letter 'v' so they pronounce it as 'b; XDD
