  • i wanna hear it actually playing. I have the z-2300 sys, factory.

  • did u need a sub with 200 watts or could u put like a 8 inch kicker in with 400 watts and how do u replace it

  • were did you buy t?

  • I just ordered a kicker comp 8'' 8ohm will it work?

  • @MeatWallet1994 it Will Work Depends Of The Woofer Size , Ohm , And Wattage

  • @Farie977 wattage doesn't really matter, As long as it's 8ohms, your safe.

My sub has both of the 4ohm coils wired in series, and it runs at 8ohms

  • whats the max wattage on this subwoofer??? please respond back thankyou

  • was it worth it?

  • xXtortionXx, I have a question for you. I'm thinking on buying this sub for my z-2300 too, but is a lot louder? or does it just hit deeper? Because the sensitivity of this sub is not very impressive. The REx8d4 is at 81.2dB/1W and the z-2300's driver is at 83.1dB/1W.

  • Switch it back! The box is designed for the Tang Band 8", and also the Tang Band has much higher Xmax.

  • Its looking like it hits the frequencies really wll man,

  • can i do this with a z5500 system?

  • Yes as long as you have a DVC 4 ohm subwoofer that needs around 180 - 250 watts rms.

  • @calvinblinkee The logitech amp only out puts 120 watts to the sub... or do you need to buy a higher rms sub? ^o)

  • @jeremya5 O my bad I mistakened it as the Z-5500

  • yes but with a 10" sub

  • @zeaner123 lol yep.

  • however..... the logitech subs, even the most expensive one, doesn't compare to a high quality studio sub or home theater/hifi one.

the logitech boxes ain't made of thick 1 inch MDF or heavily braced, nor are the amps in the boxes very high wattage.

the BKELEC subs, Adam Sub 7,8,10,12, KRK RP10S,Fostex PM,05 MK2 sub AE Aegis Neo Subwoofer,MJ Acoustics, M&K subs, and loads of others beat that logitech shite.

and then mostly every PA sub beats shitty car subs.

  • This sub has a pretty huge magnet, but not as big as the Tang Band driver.

  • Did you know the magnet of the TB 10 incher of a Z-5500 is 10kg!!!

  • That's weird, the tang band driver's magnet is already small.

  • @xXtortionXx did it hit harder with the original driver or with the Re driver ?

  • @bigbenITA I put it in back in 09 and it's almost 2011. Yeah it slams!! It's soo much louder then the original driver, and the problem with the original sub, is that its wayy to boomy. I am an audiophile and i need good sounding speakers. The tang band driver doesn't cut the cake for me.

  • @xXtortionXx Did the bass extension improve? Does it sound tighter? More balanced? Or is it just louder?

  • @shaolinxdanger The woofer is quite good for that price - and the membrane of the woofer is not made by Logitech -

  • @shaolinxdanger I agree with everything you said... except about the PA subs, since the PA subs are designed to get really loud without distorting the cheap ones only go down to about 45 hertz and the more expensive ones maybe 35hz.

  • surprised you were lucky with the cheap RE driver as personally I would have used the: Peerless XLS10 they are £90 and handle 300w rms, 12.5mm xmax, cast frame, 3 inch coil, BL 17.5, qts 0.17, fs 18.9 hz which is very low, so means it can go extremely deep.

they are high quality home audio/studio subs, not shitty car subs.

as normally you can't put any driver in any box and expect it to sound great. at times it will sound bad and at worst blow the driver for being unsuitable.

  • hmmmmmm... one question,

the amplifier of the logitech subwoofer can handle a 4 ohm subwoofer?

because I want do the same

  • Download WINISD for Windows, freeware and good starting tool to get a solid idea what the result will be.

  • Suspension wear...the suspension enemy number one is gravity and pushing the driver near Xmech.

I would check the Xmax(linear) on this driver, there is no enourmous pressure buildup. There is probably a bump in the frequency response, again I would check with WInISD(inpout driver parameters, box volume and diameter of teh port and how long the port is).

    A simulation is a must.

  • The Xmax of this sub is 12mm, but do you know any simulation programs for mac? I can try that one you mentioned on my mac, i have windows on here but its not exactly what i am used to using..

  • Hi, I think you're looking for Bass Box Pro. It works in most Spreadsheets, including Open Office (need to enable macros). It's a free download, just do a quick Google search.

I personally prefer winISD. While it has it's limitations, it's good for a quick check of how a driver is expected to perform.

  • This is a cheapie RE woofer, get a real RE sub. You just downgraded.

  • You cant just assume its shitty, unless you have tried it asshole. And the Z-2300 sub was very shallow sounding, pretty much your saying that Some RE subs sucks..

  • xXkid,

As I said this is a low end RE, here you buy the NAME. You do not like what you readbecause you know it is true,it hurts I understand.

A real RE sub the RE XXX series, and kid the very high tune of the box combined with the new driver. A recepie for failure.

The TangBand is a better performer in this cabinet. Get WinIsd and do some basic crunching, before you get all mad.

  • When i put this sub in the box it completely changed the tuning of the box. And your wrong dude, you might as well say that the whole RE series is crap, but your right on how its the low end model. but its a huge improvement from the old sub. The tangband sub had some features that were nicer tho, like it had a flat spider, Raised voice coil, large roll surround, and a huge motor for that small sub!

  • Please check out my video response! Big thanks tortion!

  • well done, looks nice!

    i can see a mac... +1

  • Would a 8W3v3-8 or the 8W3v3-4 dual fit or work?

  • I'm pretty sure that the Logitech z-2300 distorts because the sub isn't that good, right? not the amps :P

  • actually my z-2300 has never distorted and ive played it pretty fuckin loud.

  • z 2300 loud...contradiction in terms

    its sooo weak

  • actually its really not. compared to everything else in its pricerange, its really nice. it hits nice and low, and it can shake my entire upstairs. i will be buying a new 12" klipsch sub soon though, cause i need more bass lol :)

  • call me a noob but why is the RE sub better than the tang band logitech sub?

  • ill use one word.. features..

  • what do you mean by that...

  • IT HASS MOOORRRREEE FEATURES! XD

  • I DONT GET WHAT YOU MEAN!!! XD like does it go lower or is it less directional or what?

  • hahahaha noob

  • hahaha ass hole.

  • Is series wiring positive to negative then the positive and negative left wire to the positive and negative in the amp

  • looks at the specs dude it can handle more and yes it will hit the lows better especially in a good box look it up on youtube you will see

  • is the real sub a 8ohm?

  • yes, the original Tang Band logitech-branded woofer is a single 8 ohm coil.

  • whats happining if i put a 4ohm in there?

  • the amp will try to draw twice the power its designed to. keep the bass knob all the way down, or just use a single 8 / dual 4 sub.

a single 4 will eventually short out the amp...

  • or maybe a 1ohm xD

  • you mean a dual-2?

  • no...

  • a dual-2-ohm can be wired to 1 or 4...

  • yeye shit the same :D

  • Looks very nice, I got the z-5500 and I'm thinking of replacing the woofer as well, but I need to know if it's useful as I hear alot of people saying I should stick with the stock woofer, what I want to know is... if there is any noticeable change in sound quality, does your sub reproduce lows better now?

  • HUGE QUALITY DIFFERENCE!!

  • i will try this

  • so it doesn't matter the watts of the subwofer u replace? just the ohms? correct me if me if im wrong.

  • thats correct!

  • you just dint need a subwoofer with 4 ohms i still need to check how many watts the subwoofer is

  • just wire the sub @ 4 ohms i have the same system and i changed the logitech sub with a memphis single 4 ohm

  • what was wrong with the origanal z-2300 sub

  • whats that ssssss. sound?

  • must be some trash like plastic near the port that makes the hiss sound

  • it means youre ssssssstupid, its called the sound a non-professional camera makes with bass

  • ok its official.... im getting the new version of the re8 and it said that it can handle up to 2000watts max peak! Thats gotta be strong and also the magnate is bigger than what you have here so its gonna pwn

  • you dont know what your even talking about! they both have the same wattage, and the newer model has a smaller magnet!

  • Omg, I am such a big fan of what u did with your logitech. It is so brilliant. Too bad I dont have a Z-2300 to replace the sub with this re :/

I cant wait cause I am getting a REX8 This video was the one that made me find out that RE made an 8" sub!

  • and how much your new cost?

  • i paid 30 on ebay, but its like 60

  • its better now?

  • OH YA!

  • Lollipop - 50 cent - Ultimate R&B 2009

  • im thinkin of gettin two of these to replace my 8"s, u seen my vids? would they be considerably better?

  • previous speaker is 8 ohms?

    now with 4 ohms speaker?

    juz asking

  • old speaker was 8 ohm...

new speaker id dual 4 ohm ran in series to make 8 ohms

  • its a dual 4 ohm woofer. he wired them in series which means connecting the positive from one coil..to the negative to the other. then the 2 wires from the amp to the opposite terminals

  • whats the first song? plz answer ima test my system!

  • its in my videos,. on the last page

  • Does it sound better now?

And can you crank up the volume more than the old 8"?

  • YES! 100% better, the sound is amazing!

  • What volume can you crank that up to compared to the old one?

  • dont know! if i have it at a Quarter volume the whole room shakes!

  • that dust cap worries me :P

  • nice!

i was planning to replace new sub for my 2300

but i'm scared it could burn my amp

  • Lol, enjoy your Logitech ass-amp. No matter what you do to it, anything using parts from a Logitech system will be a toy.

  • i would not say that if i was you! i like the logitech amp alot! the z-2300 sub does not bring justice to this amp! this amp hits lows better than some professional systems. but you cant really see it in this video, (crappy mic)

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

That amp is rated for 10% THD. Have you got any idea of how horrible that is?

  • dude i do not give a shit about your information. if your going to complain about something in my video then you can leave. i was able to measure around 129Db with a meter across the room in a corner, if you disagree then shut the hell up. if it works good and the low bass is loud then i am happy, what would you put in that box?

  • Lots of sound does not equal good sound. I can easily push 80WPC out of my old Pioneer amp if I want to, but what's the point when the distortion goes through the roof and you can barely hear the music over the noise? I did the smart thing and got a real 100WPC amp instead.

And what I'd put in that box is a 6.5" driver at most and dump the port, coupled with some semi-decent STK-based amp in the 20-40W/0.5-1% class, with separate class-T amp(s) for the satellites, about 15-20WPC.

  • You're a dick; let the kid enjoy his GREATLY improved Logitech system!

You're also an idiot; he didn't pay $500 for this system! He payed a modest $150 - if that - and received a VERY high quality subwoofer GIVEN THE PRICE! This sub will BLOW AWAY nearly ANY HtiB system out there, PERIOD!

Don't like it Freezer?! Then leave, and quite being an ass hole!

  • i am blocking you

  • If you're here to be an idiotic asshole, then leave!

You're obviously an idiot when it comes to this; you get incredible sound quality and build FOR THE MONEY! Even if the system cost $200, you would still be receiving great sound quality for the money!

You need to learn your stuff, bubba.

    Good riddance!

  • Hey, what do you think about me putting a 8 inch Rockford Fosgate in a Logitech Z-4. the hole for the passive radiator is 7.75 an i have the room to mount it. the only concern is my amp, should i get a separate one, or use the original one?

  • dude that original amp is toooo small! and wont power that! just buy a z-2300 for that!

  • what about a seperate amp externaly run thru the back where the power cable was

  • I removed some resistors and now im getting 140 watts rms. What about now. The Rockford fosgate one looks real pretty

  • what..... ok thats stupid

  • I know what im doing and it was just some extra ones. they were parallel wired so i was a little sceptical but it works so its ok XD

  • if you dont want the old sub, can i have it cuz i got a box,amp and somptin to hook it up to

  • lol if i knew you and you were someone close to me i would give it to you... but this thing is heavy as hell! but anyways, i never use it anymore, it just sits in the corner of my room. =[

  • Build a 32hz box for the useless tangband you got lol

  • nice sub! i luv re audio! but that box will limit what the re sub can do. you're probably better of making your own box r a box built 2 re audio's specs.

  • dude the bass hits sooo much lower than the stock sub! and i dont think i need to replace anything!

  • the replacement RE subwofer soundsalot better than the origonal logitech sub right?? that's my guess???!?

  • the thing is... this sub hardly has to move and it creates more bass than the z-2300 stock sub

  • so what would that be like if i got one for my z5500 tc

  • if you go the 10" version... it would fuck shit up! it would probably break every window in your house...

  • i dont think a lil 10" re would do that bro look @ my pioneers im using @ the mo looool tc

  • im just messin. i was just trying to say it would be LOUD! but i was able to break my mothers glass cup on her shelf from the vibrations!

  • is it the original amp? And if it is is it strong enough to power the new sub at hig wolumes? ps nice vid =)

  • yes original amp is in it the amp runs perfectly with the sub because its running at exactly 8ohms

  • be careful bcuz if your amp runnig @8ohms!

the car subwoofer is normally 4ohms!

you can overheat your amplifier! ;)

    but nice excursion!

    ciao.

  • the sub is 8ohms! so is the amp!

  • your car sub is 8ohms???

normally , the cars subwoofers running on 4ohms.

if your logitech amp give 8 ohms on your 4ohms sub, you can make several dommage to your amp.

    if your sub is 8ohms but I don't think is a 8,

    it's ok!

    so check it out dude!

    bye.

  • OK do i need to tell you like a baby.... each of the subs coils is 4 ohms and if you run it series than it, kind of adds the ohm levels together giving you an 8ohm resistance.. not hard

  • XD

    ok man!

    lmao

  • That RE subwoofer is DVC 4 ohms. Parallel wiring it will make it 8 ohms.

  • lol ok if he know what he mean!

    new account? :)

  • but it's an 8 inch car "sub" its not an sub that your going to expect to beat down your block or anything, it's usually used for just a little extra bass and mids without going to 6x9s or something. i love 8s lol, they're cute and some are quite shocking of what they can do. :P

  • i would not say it adds a little more bass.. you need to get this straight! this sub picks up 130-60 dbs at half volume! now 8's arent really considered little baby subs.. theres a JL sub thats 8 inches that was ripping this guys interior apart in his truck! and this RE is nearly as powerful.. the problem is, that this mic really sucks so do not estimate that the sub is weak.. because i was able to make picture frames fall off my wall as well as stuff on my shelfs!

  • and you need to also take into consideration that it all depends on the box you have it in... like if you have a very big box for it it will sound alot better than a 12.

  • You know some dude was able to get in the 140's on a TL with the older versions of those RE 8's riteee?

  • o...k you can read right! well i clearly state the sub is 8ohms!

  • nice sub

  • so which one was better ??? will love to know

  • the RE is hands down louder than the stock driver. it hits way lower frequencies than i expected, but RE sounds good at any size.

  • haha awesome!!!

  • yeah i know..

how much was the re sub and where do you bought it?

  • i got it from ebay. but it was about 30 dollars. but its originally around 60-70 us dollars. but if you like RE alot, than i think you should give it a go!

  • ok i have searched it on google ^^ nice sub tho

    jo hmm...

either i buy a teufel system or i first try out the re sub.. hmm..

btw no experience with subwoofers ^^

  • well if you get one i guide you through setting it up.. k?

  • i want those to:P

  • u have still the z2300 amp in ?

    nice bass :)

is it also louder and stronger?

  • yes i do recommend you trying this, unless your not tired of your old sub yet.. but i get tons of clean bass

  • better?? anything wrong with the stock sub????

  • i thought that the z-2300 sub was a bit boomy and didnt go low enough so i got the re sub and. it has excellent rich bass.
