this is the most awesome trick.............just tried it......couldn't get it always but sometimes it was truly amazing!!!!!!!!! u u a superstar peter gade!!!!!!!ur the best!
You must have the nerves okay if you make such a feint in an Olympic final, but you never know it may well be just what it takes, so that I could get a medal, and if this is what it takes, then it will give me great pleasure.
I believe in fact that I certainly in my last part of my career will try to get some more of these elements in my game, because it also helps to make the opponent become uncertain, and have no idea what is coming from my side.”
Commentator:
“His career is not on track to be knocked out of the pitch, the little feint could indeed be used in Beijing this summer.”
“The new trick to be tested in the Copenhagen Masters looks like this.”
Peter Gade: “Now I'm trying to make it when I meet the shuttlecocks here, and then I just do it the opposite way, that is of course not a natural movement like this way because there is something in the wrist that blocks. Very risky trick, but if it succeeds, then it's a cool feeling.
“The man who has thousands of shuttlecocks behind him, and is known for his hard hitting smash, but he has more tricks in the racquet.”
Peter Gade:
“ This is the original trick, which I have played with for many years until I finally pulled myself together to do it in Copenhagen Masters for five or six years ago. I go up here to meet the ball, and I get my opponent to think that I'll play straight, and then I turn the racket this way hitting it cross.”
News lady is talking about Peter Gade who is know for his hards smahs. And Peter Gade says he have been practicing for this trick so he could use in Copenhagen Master (tournament i think) And then he explains it and you can see what he is doing and what it is good for, but also very dangerous and hard to do. Short Explanation :)
I figured out this shot before I saw this video, but yeah...that's pretty nice. I can do the backhand one extremely well but not so much the forehand shot. It takes so much more wrist twisting and you need to raise your elbow with it.
In the end he says that he will try to put more of these elements in to his play because it confuses the opponents so they don't know what Peter will do. But the nerves have to be strong and steady to do a trick like that in an OL final but if that's what's working so he can get another medal he will do it ;)
Then he shows the trick in the front hand. Now that's a little bit tricky he says because it isn't a move that is as natural as the other trick because there is something in your wrist that blocks so you can't twist it any further - a very dangerous shot but if it succeeds it is an awesome feeling he says.
@MuzicTick thanks a lot. on the forehand side, i use my thumb to hold the racket to get that angle, it gives you virtually no power but i use it for a straight net shot and it works :)
Okay I'm Danish, and when he shows the first trickshot he says that he has played with this trick a lot and that the first time he attempted to do it was in the Copenhagen Masters for about 5 or 6 years ago and if you watch badminton you will know that it worked.
man.... not only is his trick shots very awesome and effective but he can do it some consistently and can actually use it in a game!! that is impressive.
@adr58 LOL that isnt what he say your stupid k, he said on danish: jeg tror at i den sidste del af min karrierer vil forsøge at få nogle af de her elementer ind.
on english: i think i will try to get more of this elements in the latter part of my career...
oh boy, good question. maybe around sixteen or so?? it has to be after your wrist is fully developed. once or twice is fine, but to do it frequently like how Mr. Gade is can really screw you up. I had friends do it (starters at badminton) and start to develop tendonitis and arthritis (besides the point tho) I did it my self. (my opponent asked his coach "What the heck was that?")
Ummm, no. Considering there is very little wrist movement involved in that whatsoever, especially on the forehand shot. Just grab a racket and try doing it on the forehand and it puts no strain whatsoever on your wrist. You may think it puts lots of strain if you try the backhand shot but it requires mostly your thumb to control it with very little wrist movement.
Gade is an amazing player. His trick shots are great, and his footwork, though slightly different from others, he's quick. ^_^
I would love to see Taufik, Gade and Lindan all face off in their prime.
Lin Dan is fast and very good offensively. His speed helped him to play the much deceptive Gade.
I believe Taufik would probably come out on top. His 2004 Olympic performance can only be describe as masterpiece. Too bad that he's kinda old now. Even his jump smash looks different from before.
peter says his fave racquets are the old iso slim 10 and mp 88 (there mine too!) but 'cuz there all discontinued, he really couldnt care less what racquet he uses aslong as its good quality
What he basically says is, that when he meets the ball, instead of net dropping it straight (that most opponents will think he'll do), he crosses it by hitting it the other way.
He's got a new trick that he shows at 0:30. It's basically the same, it's just the forehand instead of the backhand, and the trick is harder to execute since it's not a normal twist.
wat does ur sentence start with??? a BIG "IF"...if things were like this and if things were like that...head to head lin dan is 12;gade is 3...dunt get me wrong i think gade is freakin amazing...but dont talk IF"s
agree with that, taufik's shots are a bit more radical and useful (backhand smash!) than these trickshots, but that reverse forehand is out of this world...
it was interesting to see gade vs lin in hyderabad this year, 22-20 lin dan in the 1st game

Too bad - you must work to convince the right authorities to make badm. courts.
Most sports halls here in DK have them,
and they are very popular among teams and more ordinary "amaterur" players - very good for keeping fit ;-)
Anyway I believe this is a major arena, where the national badm. team players have their daily training.

that trick really can ruin the wrist growing?so you recoomended what age to do that trick shot?

oh boy, good question. maybe around sixteen or so?? it has to be after your wrist is fully developed. once or twice is fine, but to do it frequently like how Mr.

What he basically says is, that when he meets the ball, instead of net dropping it straight (that most opponents will think he'll do), he crosses it by hitting it the other way.
He's got a new trick that he shows at 0:30. It's basically the same, it's just the forehand instead of the backhand, and the trick is harder to execute since it's not a normal twist.

lin dan and peter gade are roughly the same overall, at the same age and injury free, lin dan is slightly faster and gade has better deception.
Taufik beats both with ease when he is playing well, but he is only 28 and cannot compete with lin dan now...
